PrinceWatercress plays Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! - Part 8 of 27

In this episode, we finish up the first homeworld (for now) before starting the second one.

I get the last two orbs in Aquaria Towers at the beginning of this video; you can find out how to get them at the bottom of this blog entry.

Once you get all the talismans in the Summer Forest worlds, you'll automatically head to the entrance of Crush's Dungeon, which Elora will open for you. Drop down the hole and prepare for your first boss battle.

Crush's Dungeon

After the cutscene in which the origins of how Ripto (and Spyro) arrived in Avalar are revealed, we fight Crush.

When he's on a blue floor panel, he'll stomp the floor twice and send shock waves towards you. Dodge the two shock waves, then charge up to him and flame him. Get away from him, so the rocks don't come down on you when he whacks the floor with his club. This is how you whittle away Crush's life meter.

After two hits, the blue floor panels become red. When he stomps, he now sends fireballs at you. Run to the side with the charge to avoid the fireballs, then come after him and flame him again, making sure to run away from the rocks when he hits the floor with his club.

After two more hits, you'll see a mixture of blue and red floor panels. This time around, he'll send out three fireballs/shock waves before you can attack him. This time around, you'll have to charge away from him and give chase. After a few seconds, he'll hit the floor with his club and cause rocks to fall on him again. Give chase and keep running, he'll screw up eventually.

Three more hits, and he's gone.

If you need health throughout the battle, a sheep will drop into the dungeon every so often. Attack it for health.

Autumn Plains

After Crush's Dungeon tries to cave in (unsuccessfully) on Ripto and Gulp, Summer Forest is freed from Ripto's grasp. Unfortunately, the land of Autumn Plains is Ripto's next target, and he soon takes it over.

As you look around while grabbing gems and destroying pots, you'll come across Elora not far from the start. If you have enough Orbs (don't know the exact number), you'll be able to activate a whirlwind that will get you access into Metro Speedway.

You'll also find Moneybags standing near a ladder. If you pay him 500 gems, you'll learn how to climb: jump onto a ladder and use the Control Pad to move around on it. When you've reached the top, hold forwards on the Control Pad/Left Analog Stick and jump. Now that we have the climbing ability, we can backtrack.

There is a spiral staircase near the whirlwind that the orbs activated. If you pay Moneybags 400 gems here, you'll open up the portal to Zephyr.

Summer Forest

Now that we have the climbing ability, we can find the orb at the top of that ladder near where Elora is.

Glimmer

Go back up the ladder near the bridge. It's basically the same as the first Superfly orb in the level. It's really not that hard.

Orbs

Aquaria Towers

2. Talk to Hunter and tame the manta ray. Follow the seahorse and fly through the bubble rings. If you hit a wall or miss a ring, you'll have to start over.

3. You need to get #2 to do this one. After you get that first orb from Hunter, he'll ask if you want to take on a harder course. Do it. You'll get another orb at the end. Be sure to watch out near the end; you'll be super close to the seahorse at that point.

Summer Forest

4. You need the climbing ability to do this one. Climb the ladder near the portals to Hurricos and Sunny Beach. You'll find an orb at the end.

Glimmer

3. You need to have the climbing ability to do this one. Climb the ladder near the bridge that you couldn't initally access, then use the Superfly powerup at the top to light up the six gem lamps at the ceiling above the bridge.

Skill Points

Crush's Dungeon

Perfect: If you can defeat Crush without getting hit, you'll get a Skill Point and an extra life for your flawless victory.
