...and now, the "tips and tricks" edition.

There is a grave in the graveyard just east of the cemetery that allows you to go back to the hidden passage that leads to the Sanctuary (you know, the one that you took Zelda through earlier). You can now the crack in the wall that you couldn't before. You could use a Bomb to do this, but you can run into it with the Pegasus Boots. As long as it's that circular-style crack in the wall, you can do this. You'll be able to get more Bombs, 10 arrows and 300 Rupees here.
The Chris Houlihan room, and the easiest way to get in there. Available in the Super Nintendo version only and named after Chris Houlihan, who won a Player's Pulse contest back in the day and got a secret room named after him as a result. The telepathic message block is a message from Chris himself. (If you're wondering what the contest was, you had to find Warmech in Final Fantasy, snap a picture of it with a camera, and send the picture to Nintendo Power. Despite the fact that the room existed and can only be reached when the game made a checksum error during a room transition, it was barely found by only handfuls of people until the Internet and Super Nintendo emulation came along, when the game's code was analyzed and the room finally discovered. Once everyone knew the many means of finding the room (there are five entrances, and the one here is quite possibly the simplest, which is a stretch), the room finally became a thing among gamers.
Sometimes, when you dash into a tree, you can find something. Sometimes it's Rupees, sometimes it's a bunch of apples that will refill your health, sometimes it's a bomb that will blow up, sometimes it's a faerie (or faeries), and sometimes it's a bunch of bees.
With the Pegasus Boots, you'll be able to catch the running guy in Kakariko Village. He'll be near the whole row of houses. Catch him, and he'll tell you about running into trees and finding stuff with the Pegasus Boots.
The old woman with the broom turns into a faerie and flies away if you sprinkle her with Magic Powder. (She comes back if you off-screen the village.) The room with the chicken in the pot? Y'know, the one with the mailbox out front? Go in and sprinkle Magic Powder on the chicken when you find it to turn it into a human, which you can strangely walk through unlike the other human characters in the game. He also mentions the Weathercock, for some strange reason. This will come into play later into the game.
This was mentioned in another video, so I might as well mention it now. If you drain the lake at the Great Swamp and take one of the fish to the guy who gives you the Magic Bottle, he'll give you a bunch of Rupees. Weird.
Sometimes, when you pick up a large rock, you'll find one of the little creatures that hides under rocks and bushes and runs away from you. When you get near him, he'll drop a bunch of Rupees. As you pick one up, he drops another. You can keep doing this until he disappears, which can lead to a small yet welcome unexpected windfall.
Near the northeast entrance to the Lost Woods entrance is a pair of lumberjacks. They'll be cutting a tree, and if you talk to the guy on the right he'll mention how funny the tree feels when they cut it. The guy on the left mentions the fog in the Lost Woods, which we've already noticed earlier.
Death Mountain
The cave to the south of the lumberjacks' house leads to Death Mountain. Go through the maze, and you'll eventually find an old man. He appears to have gotten lost and needs help making it back to his home in the mountains.
From here, go through the maze. The old man will tell you to turn right at specific parts of the maze. If you go in other directions and explore, you'll find the lone pot in this maze. The old man will tell you that there's a Heart underneath the pot...and there is! He also tells you that his granddaughter (who is probably the same age as Link) was also taken to the castle by the King and has not returned since, so the old man could quite possibly be a descendant of the Seven Wise Men, as is his granddaughter. He also knows about the wizard's plans to open up the Golden Land. The old man slows you down a little bit, as you'll go at normal walking speed if you're dashing with the Pegasus boots, but it's more than worth it.

When you make it outside, you'll be at the mountain. When you return the old man to his home, you'll be able to start at his home as opposed to Link's House or the Sanctuary when you save and quit. That's not all...you'll get the Magic Mirror. If you ever wander into a magical transporter, use the Magic Mirror to return to Hyrule.
Go inside the old man's house, while you're at it. The old man will tell you about the Moon Pearl, which you'll need if you have any hope to stop whatever evil is behind what's going on. You'll have to enter the mountain tower to find it. The old man will also completely heal you if you talk to him.
Anyway, while you're near the bottom half of the mountain, you'll be hailed upon by a bunch of boulders, which move randomly to the left or right as they come down. They don't do much damage, but they can be a pain in the pants. The moles here will turn to stone if you so much as swing your sword at them, much less hit them. They'll be impenetrable until they come out of their stone transformation.
As you climb the mountain, you'll see a Heart Piece. Make a mental note of this for now, as well as the mountain top on which it's on.
There are two caves south of this Heart Piece to drop down to. Drop down to the one on the right. This one will take you to another Heart Piece. The telepathic message title is a note from Sahasrahla. He tells you to find a way to get to the top of Spectacle Rock. From here, you'll be able to reach the Tower of Hera and the top of Death Mountain. Don't worry, you'll find a way soon enough.
If you drop down the pit here and go right, you'll find three Faeries. You'll also find the entrance for the left cave of this set of caves.
To the right of that rock formation with the Heart Piece on top is some weird blue tile with some moving diamond pattern on it. If you walk onto it, the screen will turn white and you'll get one of the most amazing sound effects in Super Nintendo history.
Wait...What?
As this happens, you'll be transported to another realm, and Link turns into a rabbit. You won't be able to use your sword, but at least you'll be able to explore without getting whacked if you stray too far, thankfully.

When you go west, you'll see some guy with a horn on his head kicking some pink ball around. That pink ball, amazingly, is a living being. He'll tell you that this is an alternate version of Hyrule, twisted by evil. He'll explain to you that the Golden Power changed you into a rabbit, and to counter this, you'll need the Moon Pearl.
How do we get out of here? Stay tuned!
