PrinceWatercress plays Illusion of Gaia - Part 4 of 21

We're only four videos in, and we've reached our first REAL dungeon!

Inca Ruins

As soon as you cross the first bridge, it's time to fight.

The mud men will move backwards before charging at you, and the statues with multiple faces spin around before stopping to shoot a four-way dart attack that is either all cardinal directions or all diagonal.

In the first room, there is a floor title with a diamond in it near a pit of spikes. You won't be able to do anything with it right now.

The worm creatures from the Moon Tribe Camp are back, and they fight the same way as they did there. They move slowly, and they will roll around to charge at you more quickly.

It won't be long until you find the diamond-shaped block if you followed the very linear path. Take it back to the tile with the hole in it near the spike pit, and you will create a bridge that will let you move south. As you defeat enemies, you will open up shortcuts leading to previous parts of the dungeon, though you want to go south. You'll find a doorway leading to another room with a maze inside. Use the Psycho Dash to destroy the statues blocking the chest to get an herb.

Also in this room, you'll find a skeleton with a note telling the person being told by Nana and Sabas to come back alive and to buy a Kruk when they find the Gold Ship. Unfortunately, this person died before they could do either of these things.

The green slime enemies pop in and out of the floor and slowly move around, but they go down in a few hits. Also, there are statue heads that fly around in a circle. If your timing is right, you can strike it every time it is in front of you. Also, at the place where you first meet these two enemies, there will be a gold statue head on a podium that you won't be able to reach quite yet. Head south.

The blue worms are like the green worms, but they uncurl as soon as they charge to where you are. You'll also find another skeleton with a note saying that if they can move the gold statue, they can pass. Remember that for when you go up the ladder and go to the doorway to the west from where you first meet the blue worms.

In this room, you will see four gold statues. What you want to do is keep a fair distance away and move three of them to the gold titles to the north using your telekinesis. If you approach them, they will come to life and attack. If you defeat them all, you get nothing and you will have to re-enter the room. Sheesh, no wonder that guy died.

If you get three statues on three of the tiles and stand on a fourth one, and you will be able to enter a hallway that leads deeper into the dungeon.

Here, stay away from the gold tiles so you don't get hit by ceiling tiles that will come crashing down. The skeleton there is a reminder to not touch the first three. The rest of them will create bridges over the spike pits on the path to the Dark Space portal, where you can turn into Freedan.

Before you go back to that lone gold statue head, go up the stairs to the left of the Dark Space portal, follow the path and enter the doorway to the south. When you end up back outside, you will learn the Melody of the Wind, which you will need for later. Be sure to get this before you backtrack with Freedan.

Once you destroy the long estatue head that you need Freedan to destroy, you will be able to reach the other side of that section to fight the last of the enemies. From there, you can go south and finally fight the statues proper. The green guys will stab at you and throw spears at you, but they will only hit you if they touch your chest you are facing away from them, while the purple guys will shoot flames at you on the ground.

As you keep exploring, you will find another Dark Portal that will let you transform back into Will, a skeleton with a journal telling you to "chant in the golden room" that hints at playing the Melody of the Wind in a certain spot, and another chest containing the only Red Jewel in this dungeon.

Once you transform back into Will, you'll find the "golden room," a room full of gold tiles. As Will, equip the Melody of the Wind and play it with the B button, and one of the tiles will glow. Stand on that tile until a door appears to the south.

When you end up back outside, you will find yet another Dark Portal that lets you change form again as well as gives you hints for the first boss as well as two ladders leading down to mantles where you must place the two statues you found. Place Incan Statue A on the mantle to the right and Incan Statue B on the mantle to the left. When you do that, stand on the tile between the three stone pillars and the wind will carry you to the left. Once you go through that door, you'll fight the first boss...
