Now that we've gotten some info and wrecked some of Genosha's plans, let's go free some prisoners!

HEIGHT: 5' 11'
WEIGHT: 155 lbs.
MUTANT POWERS: Possesses the power of telepathy, useful for a "psychic blade"
ATTACKS:
ELBOW JAB - Y

SPIN KICK - Down+Y
PSYCHIC KNIFE - Down, Down-Forward, Forward, Y
FLYING KNEE - Forward, Down, Down-Forward, Y
QUICK SLIDE - Forward, Forward, Y
NECK CRACKER - (Landing on Enemy's head) Down+Y
Anyway, Psylocke is heading towards the main base to distract the Genoshan Magistrates when the jetbike she's hijacked gets shot down by a Sentinel.
The first X Plate is above the steel door that the Genoshan Magistrates come out of shortly after the beginning. You'll have to leap off of one of their heads with the Neck Cracker in order to get it, as that's the only way you can reach it. It looks just like the regular jump kick, except it makes no sound when you execute it and it launches Psylocke off of an enemy's head at an angle when it hits. It's like wall jumping, except your bouncing off of people. You have to hold Down and press Y while in mid-air to pull it off.
The second one is shortly after the two men with the guns that come afterward. You'll have to jump off the very edge to get this one.
The third X Plate is at the end of the collapsing path that you have to outrun after the mini-boss. Grab it as quickly as possible so you don't risk an accidental death here.
The mini-boss is a red robot that floats around and has a mace on one hand. You'll see variants of this robot in other first-level missions. Use the Neck Cracker to get instant damage and bounce off of it before the mace hits you. The mace has only a limited range and can only move up to the center of the screen. From there, the ground starts to collapse behind you, and you'll have to make it to the end. Avoid all the enemies and jump clean over them, because you won't have time to fight any of them. Two steel beams that break under your weight later, you'll be near the end.
The Psychic Knife (a dashing punch that does multiple hit), the crouching spin kick and the dashing slide kick make quick work of the sword guys.
The boss here is the Sentinel that shot you down. Avoid the trails of fire left by the grenades as well as its eye lasers, and keep smacking it in the head with the Neck Cracker. The Sentinel also has a lunge attack as well as a right jab that will hit you if you're right next to it. If you can get a Psychic Knife in between attacks (which is possible), you can cut the time you spend with boss down by a few seconds.
After beating all five stages at the beginning, you'll get a password leading to the next area of the game.
Mine
Password: Gambit, Cyclops, Psylocke, Cyclops, Wolvering, Magneto, Magneto, Apocalypse
When you complete a mission, you'll get an eight-picture password from Cerebro consisting of X-Men characters. Capcom was kind enough to put the character names below the pictures, so making up your own character description to remember the passwords wasn't required. (Boogerman, on the other hand, is the worst offender of the exact opposite, since you needed the manual to figure out who was who.) Oh, and the Xavier Institute is in the background, if you can't tell.
You'll find out where the mutants are being enslaved: a mine near a large forest. The data still isn't much help, as the prison's location is still indeterminable. Still, a lead's a lead.
Unlike the last few stages, you can play as any of the five X-Men in this stage. It'll be like this for almost the rest of the game.
When you fight the Genoshan Magistrate that pops out of the ground, he'll go down in one hit. In a poor man's example of something that comes out of the Alien series, some huge scorpion-like mutant creature with an Alien-ish head with a green head crest just instantly pops out of him and tries to lunge at you, slashing at you with the sharp spikes on their tails. The ones with the grey crests can also leap into you from up close and gnaw at you. These things will also go down with one hit.
The game will tell you to destroy the backs of army trucks whenever possible. Do it, because not only does the first one reveal an X Plate, but the second one contains some health and will destroy nearby enemies with the explosion that comes after whacking them a couple of times.
The second platform after the first truck takes you to an easily obtainable X Plate. This is the second of five believe it or not, as a few of them are harder to get with certain characters.
You'll soon see some of these creatures with wings, but even though they're airborne they still go down in one hit. You'll be nearing a cave, and there's an X Plate near the entrance that can be reached by leaping off the platforms to the left of it. The only character who can really reach this one is Psylocke, as she takes up more space in mid-air and can easily perform a Neck Cracker off one of the flying aliens to get it.
There is also another platform shortly after the entrance. You can get there with Psylocke, but it's even easier if you're playing as Wolverine, as you can climb up the wall. The fourth X Plate is at the end.
The eggs contain aliens that will hatch after they've been onscreen for a while, but if you blast through them with your most powerful attacks, you won't have to worry about them. After these eggs, you'll see a breakable wall that anyone can destroy and get past. This contains the fifth and last X Plate.
The boss here is the Queen Brood (a mis-translation of Brood Queen), the massive creature that has given birth to all of these monstrosities that you've been fighting the whole stage. This thing sends more of them at you and also tries to attack you with its huge tail.
Gambit can use his triple card attack to take down some of the flying enemies, and also hit the Queen Brood from the left side of the screen.
Psylocke's best bet is the Neck Cracker. It'll let her hit the boss in the head and also make it back to the left side of the screen. The flying henchmen make it a little harder, though.
Cyclops can easily take this thing out as well as all the henchmen with the Optic Blast in mid-air. This lets you power through just about anything, and this boss is no exception.
Playing as Wolverine or Beast? You're gonna have a bad time. While Beast can basically use his Beast Bounce to make some headway, it's still going to be a bit hard keeping it up unless you know what you're doing. Wolverine just has his work cut out for him, even though the Hyper Berserker lets you cover a lot of ground. That's all I can say.
Tusk
Password: Xavier, Apocalypse, Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Beast, Cyclops, Magneto
We've found the slave camp! But we've got a problem - it's guarded by Tusk and his Tuskettes. Fight on, X-Men!
The Tuskettes are annoying. They jump around a lot, and they'll grab you and throw bombs at you. Beast can power through all of them with just a few punches...as can anyone, since they're so weak. Love the squeaky noises they make when they die, by the way.
When you reach the lava, jump onto the conveyor belt and you'll meet Tusk, who is a lot bigger than his henchmen. Aside from the ram and uppercut attacks that he has, there's also a platform that rises up and comes straight down on you, causing damage if it hits you while crunching into the center of the conveyor belt. Use your Up+Y or dashing attacks, and knock him into the lava for some extra damage as well as an extra second or two to plan your next move. You'll still have a Tuskette moving around trying to make things slightly more difficult, but if you pool all your destructive efforts on Tusk, you shouldn't have a problem.
