PrinceWatercress plays Illusion of Gaia - Part 2 of 21

In this episode, we find out Kara's parents are extreme jerks and get thrown in a prison cell.

We're done in South Cape, so now it's time to head north. Since you have the letter from King Edward, if you talk to the town guard, he will let you through.

When you are on the overworld map, you will be on rails. You will get a message box asking you where you want to go. Pick Edward's Castle with the Control Pad and the A button, and you'll be there.

Edward's Castle

When you make it to the castle, the soldiers at the front gate will want to know who you are. Will will show them the letter, and they will let him meet King Edward. Be sure to talk to everybody. You'll learn that you will have to go the second floor to meet King Edward.

You'll learn from one of the maids that the King has hired a hunter of sorts.

If you go to the right at the front gate, face the north end of the pillar and press A when you're close to it, you will talk to a hidden person who will hand you a Red Jewel. This Red Jewel is very easy to miss.

When you make your way to the top floor, you will come across an open-air bridge that will take you to another room. Talk to the guard, and you will be able to meet with Princess Kara. The soldier will let you pass after Kara gives him a hard time by threatening to reveal his old nickname. When you talk to Kara, Will will tell Kara what is going on. Kara will respond by telling you that something wrong is going on, that her parents were not always hungry for power, and that she wants to escape badly.

Head back down to entry level. The stairway leading to the throne room will be open. Talk to King Edwin. Regardless of whether you tell him you have the ring or not, you will not have the ring and King Edwin will throw you in prison. Queen Edwina takes offense to being called "Ma'am," then you get thrown in a cell.

Edward's Prison

Will will wake up in a prison cell. Move around and interact with the cell door, the moss in the lower-left and upper-right corners, and the ball and chain.

After a few seconds after interacting with everything, you'll get bread. Walk up to the bread and press A to bread. It's not very good bread. From here, you'll have to wait even more until Will drifts to sleep.

You'll soon be met by a familiar voice from the flute. It is the spirit of Will's father, Olman. Regardless of which option you choose from here, Olman will ask you to save him and to look to the left-hand wall. A stone will drop. Pick it up with your telekinesis with the shoulder buttons, and you will grab it. These dark stones are the dark points, which are counted in the top center of the screen. If you pick up 100 DP, you will get an extra life that you can use in case you die. Get DP by defeating enemies and picking up the stones that they leave. The bigger the stone, the more DP it is worth.

Olman will tell you that you will encounter a terrible thing, and to keep picking up Dark Points. He also tells you to travel the world to find the six Mystic Statues, and that the closer you get to the Crystal, the stronger the evil power will be. Your first destination is the Incan ruins, but first you have to get out of here.

A few seconds later, Hamlet, Kara's pet pig will show up. Speak to him through the bars by holding Down and pressing A. You'll get a letter from Kara telling you that she is trapped in the castle and that she will escape along with you. You also get the key that lets you break out of the prison cell. Equip the key in the inventory, then press B on the door to get out.

To the east is a Dark Space portal if you need to save. Head out through the south.

When you pause the game with Start in a dungeon, you will get a map. You are the flashing picture in the center, while the blue masks are the enemies. To the left, you will see the number of enemies and items in the current section of the dungeon as well as whether or not you have collected the "Force" for that section. If there is one, "Force" will be above the item and enemy count; if not, it won't be. The Force will increase your hit points, offense or defense by one point depending on the icon that comes out of the last monster. A heart is HP, a sword is offense, and a shield is defense.

Battle is simple. Move around with the Control Pad. Press A to attack with your flute. Press A, then forward to do a second hopping strike that does a little more damage. L or R allows you to block some projectiles in addition to using your telekinesis.

Your HP is in the upper-left hand corner. A big circle equals two HP, a smaller circle equals one HP, and tiny dot is zero HP. Obviously, you want to keep your HP circles big. The enemies HP will be in the upper-right

The blue bats fly around slowly and have 3 HP. The worms that come out of the water have 6 HP and shoot projectiles. Use the shoulder buttons to block the projectiles that come out when these worms look at you. The skeletons also have 6 HP, but they will move towards you and throw their ribs at you like boomerangs.

As you destroy enemies in dungeons, you will be able to open up areas you could not initially enter...so keep fighting.

You'll have to move some statues out of the way with your telekinesis. After that, you will meet a dandelion flying around asking who the heck you are.. It will get in your way temporarily until you make it a certain point past the second room, then it flies off.

Also, watch out for spiked balls. They hurt to the touch regardless of whether they are moving or not.

You'll eventually find a herb in a chest. To reach the chest, you will have to strike a nearby switch with your attack in order to move the spiked balls around so you can move to the west and open the chest.

In the third room, be careful and watch for shadows so you don't get hit by falling spears, which will stay in your way until they disappear. Also, watch out for more moving spiked balls as you go through the short, maze-like corridors.

You will see a switch, but you cannot activate it with your attack. You will have to drop down onto it from a higher height to open a nearby door. Inside is a chest containing another Red Jewel.

You'll eventually encounter five bats, one of which is brown. The brown bat has more HP than the blue ones. Be sure to use your hopping strike to open the door to the next room.

In the next room. go to the west and talk to the flower, which the dandelion is now hiding in. The flower will tell you to play the flute. Equip Lola's Melody and use it with the B button. You'll then be told to go to the switch on the other side of the room. On the count of three, attack the switch to hit it on three. The number will appear above your head. Strike on three. You will open the door to the next section.

There is a switch at the beginnning of the next section, but you can't reach it just yet. Instead, head east to the small, square-shaped area. Fight off all the worms (stand between them to attack them two at a time), and you will open up a Dark Space portal. Inside is a statue. Gaia will tell you that this statue will allow you to change form. You'll be introduced to Freedan, the Dark Knight. Will will then transform in to Freedan. You still have telekinesis, but this time you'll look amazingly bad-ass. If you attack while running, Freedan will strike with slightly more range.

Go back to the switch and hit the switch. With more reach, you can finally hit it. Enjoy playing as Freedan briefly as you fight a brown skeleton - and other enemies - with more strength and range with your attack. Watch out for spike balls, and be sure to go left before you reach the second brown skeleton to reach the chest containing the third Red Jewel. Watch out for the head of the brown skeleton when you wear it down enough, as it will fly around.

You'll eventually reach the end, and you will be forced to transform back into Will. At the end of the hallway is a girl with blue hair. The blue-haired girl is Ivory, who was the dandelion from earlier. You'll learn that Lola's song was from her people, and you will find out that Ivory has met Grandma Lola, who asked her to rescue you. She will then fly away.

Before you go, check the wall behind the barrels. You'll find the fourth Red Jewel of the castle and prison area. Go north, and you will be in the castle basement.
