In this entry, we take some time to look around Neotokio.
Neotokio
There are some stairs at the upper-left corner of Neotokio, next to the underground hallway entrance. This leads to the upper level of Neotokio, which consists of three buildings. The right-most area is an empty lot. Go up to the garbage can nearby, and when the person inside asks you to help them, choose Help. You'll be teleported into a messy Neotokio apartment bedroom with no discernible way to get out. You'll be fighting a ghost who gets angry at people for various reasons involving not sleeping and wasting food, among other things. Equip the Light Rod to do the most damage, and avoid the ghosts when it turns into a tornado and flies around everywhere. Use your normal stab to ensure that you hit the ghost.
When you beat the ghost, a bird will pop up. Talk to the bird, and the bird will thank you for freeing them from the ghost. The bird was taking a nap in the company crash pad like usual when he was suddenly trapped in this room in a trash can. The bird is actually a digital representation of one of the game designers at Quintet, the developers of this game, and comes up with the idea of making a game with Ark as the hero. You'll then end up back in front of the trash can in the upper level of Neotokio, and the empty lot will now be replaced with the Quintet building.
Inside the Quintet building, you can talk to digital representations of the staff, though it isn't discernible who represents who.
The lower-right office is the Sound office, where you can get weird messages from the sound designers. The guy in the office in the upper-left corner of the building mentions an "Illusion of Gaia 2," and that Quintet has grown larger much like that game. It's probably safe to assume that "Illusion of Gaia 2" is this game, since it was released soon after Illusion of Gaia.
The room to right of that is the Graphics room, where you'll meet the graphic designers who are represented by three frogs. "M*c" is obviously a reference to the Apple Macintosh computer of 1990s fame. To the south is the crash pad, where a fresh recruit is amazes at the messiness of the place. Also, for some strange reason, you can actually pick up the sandwich on the floor, eat it only to find out it's spoiled, and vomit on the floor. You can't make this up, folks.
Sadly, you can't sleep in the beds, but you can interact with the sock on the left bed. If you do however, Ark vomits and then passes out for a few seconds due to the smell.
To the right of the Graphic office is the Planning office, represented by birds. The one on the left is the bird you saved, and is making the game starring you as the hero as promised. Not surprisingly, it's called "Illusion of Gaia 2" which confirms the statement from earlier that this game and "Illusion of Gaia 2" are the same. The bird on the right will tell you to send your comments about this game to ENIX Co. Ltd.
The far right office is the General office, where two-day weekends are mentioned. The room to the north is the lab, where you'll see where the resurrection scenes were made according to the guy inside. The turtle to the right is "H-moto-san's secret pet."
Now it's time to look at the south wall. The lower right office is the Dev. Dept. One of the people here is a human, and you'll get a continuation of the two-day weekend reference.
The building to the left of the Quintet building is the News building. You can get a tour of the city on the second floor.
If you go over there and talk to the woman on the far left, you'll hear about Dr. Beruga, the genius scientist of Mosque. Looks like we have the name of one of the geniuses we're supposed to resurrect. Of course, since it's a hot scoop, she won't tell you. The man on the upper-right will mention that Beruga has a ton of followers who believe he can give them eternal life. The man on the lower-right tells you that he is supposedly missing.
Well, some tour that was.
The building to the left of the News building is the police station. If you go upstairs, you'll see a man trying to interrogate a penguin. There's nothing of interest here.
Safarium
Despite the whole "the shopkeeper has a lion" thing in Neotokio, Liam is still there. (This is spoilers for later, obviously.)
There's nothing else to do, so go back to Loire.
