PrinceWatercress plays Terranigma - Part 24 of 50

Now that the king is dead, the future of Loire is in the balance and we are the one to tip to scales. Can we and the town do the right thing?

Loire

If you talk around, you'll find out the king's death is indeed truth. Keinz will tell you that the king's death signals change and that growth depends on the new leader now that the doors to free economy are open. From here on out, you can do things for the town that will allow it to expand and prosper, and become even more advanced that it is now. That's right...there's town expansion in this game, and it can be rewarding if you can pull it off.

If you read the message board, you'll see a message from Jean saying that the king's death puts an end to the old ways, and that it is time for like-minded people to discuss the future of Loire.

Also, Louis is no longer a drunk and has started reading books. If you talk to him, you'll find out that he is aware of what's going on and that he plans to atone for his sins in this new age. You'll also see some people gathering near the well. Jean throws his hat in the ring for the first elected leader, and Louis provides the opposition. Jean the holds an election, and allows for a recess so that people can decide who to pick. Jean wants to use taxes the King held to develop the town, while Louis wants everyone to make and share what they need equally without favor. In other words, Jean favors capitalism while Louis favors communism. Who's going to win this?

Leave the town, then come back. The recess will be over, and if you head back to the message board, you'll see a ballet box.

If you vote for Louis, nothing happens. The town will be in this state forever, and it will never grow. If you vote for Jean, the town will prosper like it never could under the king. Naturally, you'll want to vote for Jean to get extra stuff. From there, head back to the well in the center of town, and talk to everyone. You'll be told to return later when the votes are counted.

Leave the town and come back again. Head back to the well. Talk to people if you want. Whoever you voted for will win by just one vote. Whoever loses will assist the winner in running the town. Talk to everyone around the well again. Since we voted for Jean, Louis will be relieved and feel that maybe it's better this way for the town, and Jean will tell you that he is tabulating the opinions of the people to see how best to run the town.

If you talk to Keinz now that you've elected Jean. He'll tell you that the town will grow, but it will take time. You'll have to leave the entire region, enter another town, and then come back to Loire to see change.

Head back to the Nomads' camp and give a flower you got from the flower girl to the girl who cannot speak. The girl will talk, and asks if she can't have it, let her. She'll tell you her name is Chija. Remember this for later.

Cross the Indus River and head back to Safarium. Go into the path to the Lion's Den and head to the left. You'll find a mini-game that you can play for a Magirock. Hit as many gray monsters as you can within 30 seconds, but don't hit the yellow monster or else you'll lose points. If you can get 30 points in thirty seconds, you'll get Magirock #48. Thankfully, the monsters are only in three locations in front of the guy who runs the mini-game, and it doesn't take long to learn how to do this.

You can still talk to the bird who brought you here. Choose the exclamation points when you have a choice between those and the periods, and you'll be able to fly back to Kingnest. Thankfully, your former bird friend will still understand that you want to go somewhere. At Kingnest, talk to the middle bird and make the same dialogue choices. You'll make it to Japan. Go south to enter Neotokio.

Neotokio

Enter the building to the left of the entrance and take the left door. Inside will be Magirock #49.

There is an antique shop in the upper-right corner of town. The woman next to the door says that there is supposedly a wild animal being held unlawfully in the building, but there isn't any proof that there is and to call the poilce if you find any. If you go into the building and talk to the guy inside, he'll insist there is no wild animal there.

You can rest up and save in the hotel if you need to.

If you talk to any of the other people, they stay some pretty strange stuff.

Next to the flight of stairs in the upper-left corner of Neotokio is an entrance . In the center of the room is a small noodle cafe, and if you try to get the Magirock behind the counter, you'll be told it's the prize for the Noodle King. You'll have to talk to the guy behind the counter at the counter to take part in the Speed Noodle Eating Contest. Quickly alternate between the A and B buttons to eat the noodles as fast as you can. Just find an empty seat and face the table to begin the game. You'll face off against the Noodle King, and he can scarf down bowls like nobody's business. If you can somehow eat 30 bowls before the end of the game, you'll be able to win Magirock #50. Laying the controller on a flat surface and quickly alternating between the buttons from there can help, especially if you're using a Super NES controller. Oh, and the people here also say weird, funny and silly things if you talk to them here as well.

To the right of the Noodle care is the sewers. You won't be able to enter this area quite yet. To the right of the sewer entrance is a pub. If you talk to the bartender and pay 10 Gems, you can eat grilled chicken or Japanese sake. To the right of the pub is a flight of stairs leading down. Go down them and you'll be back in Neotokio.

If you're wondering what the neon sign to the right of the town entrance means, it's an advertisement for Dragon Quest VI, which explains the Roman numeral and the pictures of the Slimes.

The hotel/inn is directly north of the traffic lights.
