The Gaming Corner plays Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry! - Part 3 of 14

asdf

Using the scroll wheel on the computer mouse that has one (yours does have one, right?) allows you to pull up the inventory straight away. Also, holding the Space Bar on the keyboard will cause pink map markers to show up on anything that you can interact with, anyone you can talk to and anywhere you can go in a given area. (Interestingly, the lo-res poster in Lefty's Bar has its own red, 8-bit style icon for this.)

Speaking of interesting mouse and keyboard commands, hold Control and press B on your keyboard to enter Boss Mode. For those of you born before the 1990s, Boss Mode was a way of hiding the fact that you were playing a game when you should have been working with a nifty keyboard shortcut, which would usually turn the screen black but would also mask the program to look like something else that was vaguely work-related (like a line graph or bar graph). If you've never done it before, do it and do it now: you'll get an achievement for it ("NSFW").

Interestingly, you can combine the shoelace with the gum, but you have to do a little extra before you can do that. The gum needs to be more moist, and the string needs to be longer. Hmmm....

When you have the soft toilet paper for Kyle or the trash bag for Finley and you happen to have both items, you'll give the other item to the respective person automatically. As promised, Finley and Kyle will help Larry set up his Timber account. You can choose between a few nicknames at the start, as well as your Timber tagline, but the rest of the dialogue options will give you the same outcome regardless of which option you pick. Once you get done, you'll be able to access the Timber app on the PiPhone and check out your new matches on Timber. Pi, the AI on the PiPhone, will tell you when you have new matches as you progress through the game's story, so be sure to check them out. Click the X if you don't like them, and click the heart if you do.

From here, leave Prune. You'll find out you have some new matches. Head to Larry's Bar. You'll meet a rabid dog outside.

At Lefty's Bar, you can interact with the record in the jukebox, but you'll need to find a way to cut the glass.

Now that you have Timber and you have new matches - one of them being Erin - you can go into the back room, go up the stairs, knock on the door and tell Erin that the both of you have matched on Timber. She'll let you into the spare bedroom. (You won't be able to enter the room before this point.) Erin and Larry will get to know each other (and you'll get a reference to "Ken sent me" from the first game), then Erin will ask you if you are an Internet technician before asking you to help get the Wi-Fi in Lefty's Bar back up and running so Erin can get back on the Internet. By talking to Erin, you'll find out that Erin is not only going for a literary major in college, but that she is a camgirl and that she does shows on the Internet. Erin will also tell you that the Wi-Fi router is somewhere in the bar and that Lefty should know what it is, and once you get the Internet up and running again, Erin will do a special show for you.

For now, grab the condom off the bed. Clicking on the gum, the wrecking ball and the phallic strawberry in the strawberry bush will give you some funny lines and dirty jokes. You can take the hedge clippers, but you won't be able to leave the room with them or do anything with them...yet. If you use the hedge clippers on the strawberry penis, you'll get another funny line out of Larry.

Head back to the bar and talk to Lefty, and ask him where the Internet is. He will ask if the router is causing trouble again, then you'll get a set of dialogue options. If you've looked at the jukebox and paid attention to it, you'll figure out that the jukebox doubles as an Internet router that also does Wi-Fi. Once you pick that, you'll figure out what you need to do (and get a joke from Pi about having to install numerous critical updates to the PiPhone). It's simple: unplugging the jukebox and plugging it back in. There's just one problem: the wire is exposed, and we've already shocked ourselves touching it, so we'll have to take an extra step to insulate ourselves.

If you've clicked on the jukebox at any point in the game so far, Lefty will tell you not to play the song as the song will shatter a glass eye. Remember that for later...

Now that you have matches on Timber, you now have a new place to go to on the Unter app: the strip. There are a few places you can go to, and on the far left is Salon du Lezard. You can take a vegan licorice roll for free, and you can combine that with the shoelace to create a longer rope.

There is a glass cabinet in the cage, but you won't be able to open yet. There is a turntable next to it, and you can move the gramophone horn, but you won't be able to do much else with the turntable.

There is a maca plant that you can take on the far left. You can take it, but you won't be able to take the cloth on the wall near it. This is the Shroud of Urine, which is a sheet Freddy Quicksilver, the lead singer of Queef, was buried in. (This is obviously a pair of references to Freddy Mercury and Queen, respectively.) You will be able to trade it in for a Poolaroid - the instant camera you've seen at Prune Headquarters - but you'll have to work to get it.

You'll be able to talk to a few people. First off is Lemma Tallica, who you've seen on the Timber app. You'll find out she likes having a good time after every performance and only uses Timber to get people to come to her concerts. You'll be able to spend some time with her after the gig, but you'll have to do two things for her: hang up posters around town and find her drummer, who has not shown up for soundcheck after heading to a bear on the beach. Larry will only be able to hang posters up...for now.

There are some places where you can hang the posters right now:

  • Salon du Lezard, next to the door leading out
  • Outside Lefty's Bar
  • Inside Lefty's Bar
  • The poster wall next to the right dome at the Prune Headquarters entrance
  • The moist wall in Lefty's bathroom (use the darts to hold it up)
  • The trash cans at Lefty's Bar (not an actual hang-up spot; use it to get the "Lazybones" achievement)
  • The back room at Lefty's Bar (not an actual hang-up spot; use it to uncover the now-dead pimp from the first game and get the gold tooth)

If you hang a poster on the trash cans outside of Lefty's Bar, you'll get an achievement ("Lazybones").

If you hang a poster on the back room wall , you'll uncover the pimp from the first game, who is now dead and in skeletal form after being walled-in. You can take his gold tooth.

The moist wall in Lefty's bathroom can be used for poster hanging, but you'll need to use the darts after putting the poster up to ensure it stays up.

The Leisure Suit at the strip is a sex shop. You'll meet Dick Ryder - who you've matched with on Timber - who will get your attention when you go in. Dick is ready to mingle with Larry, though Larry isn't aware of this at first. Dick Ryder wants to help you out by doing a photo shoot to give you a better photo for your Timber profile. You'll need to find a place to take some photos at first.

At the top of the shelf to the right of the doors leading back to the strip is a white dildo wearing a Where's Waldo?/Where's Wally? hat. If you click on it, you'll get an achievement ("Found Him!").

There is a Horny-Corn 4000 on the far right, and while you'll be able to take the head, you won't be able to leave with it...yet.

At the counter is Bea Thuse, the proprietor of the Leisure Suite...and she's hilarious. Be sure to talk to her, even though you won't have a lot of dialogue options.

You can put up a poster on the counter of the Leisure Suite, but Bea Thuse will stop you before you can do it. If you tell her it is an advertisement for a new sex toy, however, she'll let you put it up. From here, you can get some more dialogue options. Ask her if she has a really great sex machine in stock, and she will tell you about a jackhammer she once used as a sex toy but has since been worn down.

If you go to the back room, Bea Thuse will stop you again. At the dialogue prompt, pick the second option ("I bet back there is where all the really kinky perverted stuff happens!"). Bea Thuse will try to wave you off, but Pi will reveal that another store is in the back. You'll be able to go in and find out that she has run a QuikiMart on the side for years to keep the Leisure Suite from shutting down.

You won't be able to take anything from the PrunePal section of the store...yet. For now, you can interact with the slushee machine that is directly behind Larry when you enter and get a slushee, but if you leave it in your inventory for too long, it will melt and you will have to get another one. There is a way to counter this, however: combining it with the thermos in your inventory to keep it cool indefinitely.

To the right of the Leisure Suit is the gym. You won't be able to do much, but you can talk to and interact with a few items. You can take the chew toy away from the cute dog (the cute dog will cry afterwards), open the first aid kit to get some disinfecting wipes, and put a poster on teh wall between the door and the counter.

You can also talk to Ptheven, the guy at the gym counter, but you won't be able to do much.

You won't be able to take the bowling ball yet, and you also won't be able to go further into the gym until a little later in the game.
