newfiebangaa plays Mickey Mousecapade

This game can be beaten in mere minutes...provided you know what to do.

Despite the fact that Capcom's name is on this game, this game was developed by Hudson Soft, who made the game for the Japanese market. Capcom thought it would be a good idea to get the publishing rights for the game for America at the time and port it over to us. There's just one problem. For something aimed at a multi-generational audience - or kids, depending on how you want to look at it - it's more difficult than it should be.

All maps are by Will Mallia.

Fun House

The game is pretty weird. Minnie tags along while you play as Mickey. Climbing up ladders is frustrating until you get used to it, as you have to keep climbing so that Minnie makes her way to the top. The same goes for entering basically any area.

You can lose Minnie by having her fall down a pit, leaving you on your own.

Climb up one screen, then go right, avoiding the snakes and cats. The cats are faster than the snakes. Get close enough to the chandelier so that it falls down, then get out of the way. From there, you can go up to the treasure chest and get the star, which you can use as an attack with the B button. Mickey shoots one, then Minnie shoots one, so you always have two shots onscreen at any time.

Most of the enemies move back and forth, but the suitcases jump up and down as they move. The spiders stay in one place but dive down at you when you're under them.

Go back to the left and climb up the ladder. You'll find as you shoot down the spiders and the chair that if you shoot the lower-right corner of the window, you'll find a fairy that gives you temporary invincibility.

Go two floors up and go to the right. Shoot at the closed window to find a 1-Up. Further to the right is a key. With this key, you can get past the closed door and continue to the second half of the stage. Be sure to shoot around whenever you enter a new room, as you may find hidden health-restoring cakes and gems. The red gems are the best, as they completely refill your health. The blue ones clear enemies off the screen, but you won't be seeing those too often. Shooting down the lamps on the walls can uncover hidden power-ups of the same nature. Be careful, as some may be hidden traps that cause a red owl to fly out and kidnap Minnie.

The owls shoot downward as they fly back and forth. Not surprisingly, there's one on the two screen leading up to and including the room with the locked door.

As you look around, you'll eventually find another treasure chest with a star in it. This brings your total stars to three, and you can easily have all three stars onscreen at any time.

The cat takes a lot of hits before it goes down. Expect to take a few hits as you try to dodge its firepower, which comes at you at a pretty high speed.

The brooms can only be hit in the broomsticks, so you'll have to jump up to shoot them.

The boss here is a witch. She'll keep shooting at you like the large cat did, but only when she's not in the air. Use that short period of time to get some hits on her. Behind her is the key, which unlocks the door at the beginning of the stage. Inside is the end of the level.

If Minnie gets kidnapped, you're going to have to shoot around the stage to find a hidden key. This takes you to a room with several Minnie statues, and you're left to pick which one has Minnie inside. If you pick the wrong one, they all just simply disappear. If you pick the right one, the screen briefly flashes pink before Minnie appears again. The door lets you leave the room.

The Ocean

First I'm reminded of Milon's Secret Castle, then I'm reminded of Adventure Island. Thanks, Hudson Soft.

Enemies include fish that jump out of the water, birds that fly to the left and poop on you, shrimp that flop around and waves that shoot jellyfish into the air as they block your progress for a few seconds.

There's an invincibility fairy near the start, so keep jumping around in the air and shoot around until you find it as soon as you begin the level. If you decide not to use it, there are a few health-restoring gems near the end.

The boss is the alligator. Stay near the left end of the screen and keep shooting as you avoid the bubbles. Sometimes the bubble dodging is harder than it should be, as there is no clear pattern as to when they come out. They always bounce to the left the same way, but sometimes you'll be forced to take a hit. Stay on the ground as much as possible, as the alligator doesn't jump. You'll be fine.

The Woods

You start in the spring area. To the left of the third pit inside the tree is an invincibility fairy. To the right of is a hidden door. Shoot at one of the trees close to the path. You'll find it.

Enemies here include bugs that fly around, plants that spit seeds, bears that throw honey at you, scorpions that shoot their stingers at you, mushrooms that move forward and jump back constantly as if they're trying to make a triangle and pigs that run at you from the left side of the screen.

This takes you to the fall area, letting you avoid the summer area entirely. After the second set of bears is a hidden door. The bears are nasty, as they can cut you to ribbons in about three hits.

For the winter area, keep going right until you see the "Start" sign again, then blast the tree to the right of it to spawn another hidden door.

After this, just watch out for the pits that erupt from the ground as well as the seed-spitting flowers. There is a 1-up after the last pit in the pink flower in the background to the right.

The boss here is a centipede. Avoid its shots and just keep shooting at it. You need not aim for the head, you can hit the body too.

Pirate Ship

The birds just fly back and forth and poop at you. The pink midget pirates that walk back and forth will speed up tremendously when you're at their level. The tall blue pirates continuously throw skulls at you...keep shooting!

It will take some time to try to get to the boss without taking a lot of damage, but when you do, it' worth it. Pegleg Pete will randomly throw knives at you. Just keep aiming at his face and you should be able to pull through.

The Castle

The birds fly around and dart forward randomly. The Spade Soldiers just quickly move back and forth, but at least you can avoid them easily if you need to.

Once you go right at the first screen, go up and continue to the right when you reach the top to get the key. From there, go back down to the second room and go left.

The first room containing the man with the mustache and monocle that shoots at you contains a red jewel and a hidden 1-up.

Pegleg Pete is easier, if only because you have more health than you did last time.

The final boss is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Her balls just bounce up and down in groups, and they're easy to jump over as you blast her. After beating her, you'll find out that Mickey and Minnie went all this way to rescue Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
