Kikoskia plays Daikatana - Part 3 of 10

Now that we've been flung backwards in time and the Daikatana has no power, we have to find our allies and return to the future...

Before you go anywhere, equip the Daikatana, as it will be stronger than the wooden sword. Also, grab the Red Armor, which gives you 100 armor points. You'll need them.

Going east sends you to two skeletons who pop out of the ground, wanting Charon's Horn to call Charon and be at peace. Thankfully, the Daikatana is powerful enough to kill them. Just make sure the bones they throw don't hit you. The spiders will charge at you, but the Daikatana will also cut them to ribbons.

As you move on, you'll have to jump pits and you'll also find items hidden behind boulders.  The red Capsule will replenish 100 HP, which can be really useful at this point in the game. Sadly, the Daikatana cannot destroy said boulders.

As you make your way further north, you'll want to watch out for the falling rocks, though it is very easy to figure out where they will drop as you will see the shadows for them just before they hit the ground. You'll also find a path to a ship, but boulders also block the path to it.

Further to the north is a yellow Capsule and some Energy Water. By picking up energy water, you will be stronger for a limited time and your character's portrait will change to look more aggressive to reflect that. Going further north takes you to a fight with a ferocious beast known as the Rock Titan. When the beast strikes at the ground, jump to avoid being stunned and hit by a falling rock. The Rock Titan will stand in place until the falling rock hits the ground, and you can use this opportunity to hit him with the Daikatana. Just don't run into him.

By beating the Rock Titan, your maximum hit points will increase by 50 and you will be able to pick up the Hammer. With the Hammer, you'll finally have the ability to break those boulders when you equip it, so go back and use the Hammer to get the Horn.

With the Horn in hand, you can get the yellow Armor on the way to the ship behind the boulders before using the Hammer to get to the ship itself.

When you enter the ship, you can open the dressers, but you won't be able to open them. If you see tiles with dark cracks on them, they will break when you stand on them. Going downstairs will lead to another area where you can find a red Capsule inside one of the dressers, and to the east is another chest that contains a Drachma. A skeleton will show up to keep you from grabbing it, but the skeleton is easily beatable and the Drachma will soon be yours.

Leave the ship and head back to the dock south of where you found the Horn. Get on the pier and Hiro will automatically summon Charon, who will ask for a Drachma. Since you have the Drachma, you'll automatically get on the boat to another area.

In this new area, you'll head north only to fall into the catacombs below. Thankfully, you'll be able to protect yourself from the bats with the Daikatana and destroy boulders with the Hammer. Be careful when in the catacombs, as other rocks will fall sometimes when you hit certain boulders.

You'll find Mikiko while in the catacombs. To get to her, you'll have to move to the east and destroy certain rocks to get the one near Mikiko to disappear so you can jump to her, and as you move around and destroy rocks with the hammer, you will learn that by destroying certain rocks, you will add some others in some locations as well as remove them in others. If you destroy the rock that blocks your path to the east but go straight back to Mikiko, the path will be free and you'll be able to get to her. The trick is to move all the way around and enter the area east of Mikiko from the north and destroy the rock from the other side.

Mikiko does not know where Superfly is, but she is able to rejoin your party. From here, go west and move the two boulders on both sides of the cliff in front of the waterfall to cross the stream and get a red Capsule. You'll then be in some more ruins.

As you explore the ruins, Hiro's ancestor will show up and shine a light on the three tiles in front of him: a bird, a snake and a lion. Hiro realizes that this person may be the spirit of ancestor Usagi. To the north are two guards who attack with staves, but they can easily be beaten with the Daikatana. Beating them will award you with the Deadalus Discus.

An opening will open up to the north. Defeat the two guards, then take the middle path. This path has a picture of a bird on the floor as well as a tile that you will have to move onto it. Going north takes you back to the previous room. Going left takes you to the snake, and going right takes you to the lion. Once you know what to do with the bird, it's easy to figure out what to do with the snake and the lion. By moving the tiles in this order, you'll be out of this looping maze and take a path leading further into these catacombs.

Beat up the guards as you make your way east, and you'll find a Trident as well as a yellow Capsule. Interestingly, the Trident is a ranged weapon. To the north are two more powerful guards, but as long as you keep your distance, you can still beat them with the Daikatana. You'll eventually fight your way to a door to the north. After beating all the guards, Mikiko will recognize this place as the Acropolis and mention that the Parthenon is up ahead. If it isn't obvious by now, you're in ancient Greece.

From here, Mikiko will take the lead, knowing the area pretty well. She can only use the wooden sword; she cannot use the Daikatana or the hammer, though she can use the ranger weapons. Watch out for the harpies, as they will shoot at you with bows and arrows. As you make your way north, you'll find a Greek tablet. You'll soon come across a door with an indentation where you must place all the tablets. From here, you'll have to explore around to find all the tablets. (At least they're easy to find, unlike the N64 and PC versions where they blended in with the floor.) Near the door is a red Capsule. Save it for when you really need it. Watch out for dark water; you will sink and take damage if you walk into it. At least you can walk through the lighter water titles, even though they slow you down.

The gryphon does a lot of damage, but is a bigger target and can easily be hit with the wooden sword before being just close enough to hit you.
