HCBailly plays Terranigma - Part 3 of 75

By opening that box, a great fate has befallen us. Now we must explore our world in order to find out what is going on and set things right.

Crysta map by Captain Drake. Tower 1 map by xyzbilliu.

Crysta

When you enter the box, you'll be surrounded by furniture. The box in the center contains magic rings and summon medals that you will earn throughout your adventure.

The bookcase to the left is the Battle Handbook. This will teach you how to do all of your moves.

To the left of the desk is the Strength Mirror. Here, you can look at your current stats.

To the right of the desk is the map. If you're in a dungeon, you can use it to see where you currently are.

The bookcase to the right is your Hint Book. It has many useful tips that you'll be needing for later.

The door with the ring insignia above it is your inventory, where you can use items and equip items. To use an equipped item, press X. If you need to show an item to an NPC, equip the item before talking to them. To look at an item while on the inventory screen, select it and press L. The controls are the same for weapons and armor, except they cannot be held in the equipped item slot like inventory items.

The door with the rod insignia above it is the weapons room, where you can do the same with weapons. The door with the armor insignia above it is the armor, which lets you do the same with armor. It is possible to be unequipped with a weapon, but you'll need a weapon to fight, so be careful. You can only hold up to 16 weapons and up to 16 pieces of armor, so watch your inventory space in these two rooms.

In the item, weapon and armor rooms is the Whole Hole. If you need to make space for anything, select the Whole Hole first, then select the item you want to toss out.

You'll then be able to explore the box. Yomi will tell you to look in the weapons room. Interact with the sparkle in the room, and when asked if you have the courage to use it, say yes. You'll get the Blue Crysta Rod. You'll have nothing but spear weapons in this game, so get used to it.

Yomi will then tell you there is commotion outside of the box, so Ark goes out to look. Elle will arrive, and is surprised by the appearance of Yomi. Elle will tell you she is scared, and that by opening the box, something is going to happen. She tells Ark not to leave her alone, but she is suddenly frozen and several shades of blue. Yomi will tell you that everyone in the village will be like, and in order to restore everyone to normal, you'll have to leave the village and explore the world to learn about the future that is in store for whoever owns the box. Yomi then disappears.

3:11 - There's that American Final Fantasy 6 commercial again.

Head back to the front door and you'll run into the Elder, who knows that you opened the blue door, opened the box and caused all of this. He says that this is the reason he did not want that door to be opened. When asked if you want to return everyone to normal, choose "Of course!" The Elder will tell you to leave the village and go to the five towers.

Be sure to go to the Elder's room. Ask about the box, and he'll tell you that the box is from the opposite world, and that you have upset the natural balance of the world, but you will also learn more in time.

You can now open the treasure chests in the Elder's room. You'll get 50 Gems and a Small Bulb (S.Bulb) that restores 20 HP.

When you finally go back outside, you'll notice that there is an entrance leading out of the village to the south of the Elder's house. Be sure to equip the Crystal Spear before you leave. This Spear will gradually heal you. Be sure to go to the Armor room and equip the clothes, since they're the only armor you have.

The world map is really something else. At the top is the crystal blue in the sky, and the rivers are nothing but lava. To the southwest of Crysta is Tower 1. Head over there.

Tower 1

Approach the door, and a face will speak. Say you're going to save your friends, and you'll be asked to get to the top of the tower, take on the souls of living things and gain the power inside that will help you control the world.

A lets you attack. Dashing before you attack gives you a dashing thrust. Dash, jump, then attack to get a downward sliding attack. The dashing attack allows you to be invincible while performing.

Press and hold the R button to block enemy attacks. Unlike past games in the Soul Blazer series, you won't be able to draw things toward you. It only works against projectiles, and never against melee attacks.

Jump in place and press B to perform a jumping spin attack.

When you defeat certain enemies in the towers, souls will pop out. Talk to the souls to get hints on what you need to do as well as continue through the tower.

The blue sparkling rock is a Magirock. You'll need Magirock for later in the game. You can see how many you've collected by checking the Strength Mirror in the box. The maximum number of Magirocks in the game is 96 (97 in the Japanese version).

Be sure to scout out all the rooms carefully to get the Magirocks in these five towers. They're pretty easy to find with some looking. Be sure to get all the Magirocks before clearing all five towers, so you can have an edge later on in the game.
