HCBailly plays Final Fantasy - Part 16 of 38

Earth Cave

Yet another new enemy between two of the chests. It's between two chests at the left-most side of the room, so you can't avoid this battle.

The Sphinxes have to be taken out one at a time, due to their high agility. Don't be surprised if you swing at one and miss half the time.

The lowest floor has no treasure, but it does introduce more new enemies. The Arachnids are nothing special, and even though the Oozes are weak to fire and ice, they can easily go down with physical attacks.

When you reach the altar of the Earth Orb, heal your characters up to max HP. You're about to fight a boss as soon as you correspond with the orange thing blocking the altar.

Boss: Lich


Attack with the Fighter, Thief and Black Belt, and have the mages cast Fast on the attackers. This will let you deal more damage than you usually would on the Lich, which you'll definitely need. Also, have a mage cast AIce, as the Lich can cast Ice2 and bring your party's HP down very quickly if you don't case it in time.

He can also cast Fast on himself and can also put you to Sleep. If your attackers' hit rates are high, and your HP is too, this won't be as bad as it could be if you're not prepared.

When you beat the Lich, walk up to the altar. Light will flash at the top of the screen, and when you return to your status screen, you'll find out that the light has been restored to the Earth Orb! One down, three to go! Just walk into the space north of the altar and you'll leave the Earth Cave.
