GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 20 of 20

To quote Z from Antz: "Who the hell is that?!?"

Grand Finale: Dark Matter

Yep, this is Dark Matter's debut...and he makes one hell of a debut, as he took me several lives just to take down! He's pretty difficult.

Thankfully, you can move anywhere on screen.

You can slash at him with the sword directly. It takes a few slashes to make a dent in one unit of his life bar, but if you know what you're doing, it makes the battle a little faster.

For his first attack, he'll send a fireball at you. Slash the fireball so it splits into three, and send one of them back at him.

Every so often, he'll charge at you. When he shakes for about half a second, you know he's going to do this.

He'll shoot three lasers at you. Thankfully, these are easily avoidable.

When you defeat him, you'll find out he has a second form.

Second Form

When you beat him, he becomes a black ball with an eye in the center. Guess what? This form is also timed, and if you can't beat him before you reach the bottom, it's all the way back to the first form. The fact that you can only take six hits doesn't make this entire battle any easier.

His first attack is to send four fireballs at you, which you can send back at him with the sword. If you happen to luck out and be behind him when he does this, you can do four units of damage in one shot.

After doing this twice, he'll shoot around the screen twice, then he'll do a dash attack three times. After this, he sends two dark lasers at you three times, and they come at random angles. Then he repeats himself.

Thankfully, it's pretty easy to get behind him and do four units of damage.

Getting close to him and slashing endlessly won't do you any good here, since he moves pretty fast in this form.

When you beat him in this form, you'll get the real ending. If you got 100%, you'll also get the Sound Test and the Mini-Game Rush mode when you load your save file up again. Congratulations!

We get the seventh Rainbow Drop and beat King Dedede again.

When you beat King Dedede with all seven Rainbow Drops collected, you'll get the Rainbow Sword...then you'll meet the unknown enemy at the end of the bad ending...

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 18 of 20

In this episode, we finally take on Dedede and find out we still have some unfinished business...

Level 7: Dark Castle

(continued)

Level 7 Boss

Well, here he is. King Dedede. Just like the returning boss, he has some brand new tricks.

The most notable change is that he can darken and become angry. When he does, he throws an exploding hammer into the air and he also moves faster. He can also send fireballs into the air with his hammer attacks, move towards you whenever he inhales (he does this longer than usual in angry boss mode) and then turn around and spit a fireball at you, and also perform a super dive that actually produces a star you can use as ammunition (just like in the battle from the last game).

When you beat King Dedede without all seven Rainbow Drops, you get the false ending where you see all the enemy names. You also find out it's not really the end...

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 17 of 20

Level 6 is a maze...and I never liked this maze as a kid.

Level 7: Dark Castle

(continued)

Level 7-6

Another carbon copy, this time of Level 7-3. The first section has wind going to the left. Of course, you'll be going in that direction anyway. Avoid the Gordos...and GRAB ALL THE THINGS!

For the second section, it's top path, bottom path, top or middle path, bottom path. Mentioning that, because this section can tear you up and cause you to have a sad.

Third section is the Needle boss. There's the exit.

Level 7-7

No more carbon copies!

Avoid the spikes, Gordos, and the Shotzo in the first, all-vertical section.

The second section is a dark room. Take care of all the enemies and enter the door on the right. If you have Kine and the Spark ability, you can uncover the pictures of three abilities by breaking the Star Blocks.

For the third section, drop whatever ability you have. Swallow the Fireball enemies, and use it to break the ice blocks guarding the door on the left and go in. For the next room, drop Fireball and swallow the Stone enemy. Use the Stone ability to break the blocks guarding the door on the right and go in. For the third room, drop the Stone ability and get the Needle ability from the porcupine. Break the blocks guarding the room on the left and go in. For the fourth room, drop the Needle ability and get Ice. Use this to break the blocks guarding the room on the left and go in. For the final room, drop Ice and get the Cutter ability. Use this to break the blocks guarding the room on the right and go in. You'll be right underneath the Rainbow Drop. The exit will have a 1-up in front of it for good measure. Now we can finish the game.

If you enter the door on the other side in any of these rooms, you'll be to the left or right of the Rainbow Drop, depending on which side you were on. You also won't be able to get it, either. So follow the pattern!

GenericDude1 misses the Rainbow Drop on purpose so we can see the bad ending. We'll get it later.

If you enter the center door at any time, you'll go to the fourth section for the door in the center. Jump up for the fifth section, where you deal with Broom Hatters instead of falling spikes. The last section is the Parasol boss, which is saved for last. There's the goal.

Level 7 Boss...

There's a Pep Brew at the bottom if you need it.

You'll have to jump to the door to King Dedede. Thankfully, it's just a few jumps straight up. If you have an animal friend, you'll have to ditch him, since the game won't let you past one of the jumps with one. It's just you and Dedede...next time!

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 16 of 20

The level design in the next two stages make perfect sense and no sense at the same time. It makes perfect sense and no sense at the same time regardless of whether you think about it or not.

Level 7: Dark Castle

(continued)

Level 7-4

The first section is almost an exact copy of the first section from Level 7-1, except you're just going left instead of right. Plus, there's a zillion Sir Kibbles.

The second section is mirror image of the second section from...oh, forget it. There's more star blocks and enemies here.

The third section has you fighting the Ninja one last time. He really should have been in more stages.

Level 7-5

Oh, lord. It's a mirror replica of 7-2.

The first section has more Gordos.

Ability room. Whoo-hoo.

Enter the lower door first, take out the blocks underneath the door with an ability, go under the floor, come out the other side to get the 1-ups, exit through the other room, go back in, do the same thing to get the other three 1-ups, go through the upper door, beat the mini-boss, get the animal buddy, go all the way to the left, fight the Stone boss, exit.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 15 of 20

Finally, we're at the end of the game! Can you believe it?

Level 7: Dark Castle

(continued)

Level 7-2

The first section has you diving down into water and avoiding surprise dropping spikes as you make your way to the right. What, did we enter the castle sewers?

The second section is an ability room. Take a power if you need it, then head right to the next section.

The third section is a door maze. Enter the upper door first, take care of the mini-boss, and you'll get Rick. Head out through the door on the right, but go down to the door below the one you come out of. Three 1-ups. Grab them and head out, then start going right again. You'll then reach another door, where you fight the Squid mini-boss. That's it.

Level 7-3

The first section is...you guessed it...easy side-scrolling action. Keep an eye on the skies at the beginning for the Kabuus.

The second section is auto-scrolling. Again. Keep going right at all times so you make it through.

The third and last section has you fighting Chilly the Walrus one last time.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 14 of 20

Guess what? Kracko's back. And he's got a gauntlet of new tricks...

Level 6: Cloudy Park

(continued)

Level 6 Boss: Kracko

What? You thought you weren't gonna fight him?

Anyway, he hides in the floor for a little while at the beginning, and he pops up where you usually stand, so stay on the move and avoid his beam attack. He'll then come out of the cloud and come out in his "mini-Kracko" form. Use the eyeballs he sends at you for ammunition if you don't have an ability, avoid him as he moves around (you can duck under him, believe it or not) and avoid the four circles that surround him when they split away...they explode. He'll then hide back in the floor, sending out another eye that you can spit back at him when he peeks back out. When you beat him here, you'll fight his second form.

He'll send two eyes at you, and if you can inhale them both simultaneously, you'll be able to save yourself a lot of time. He'll scour the room shooting lightning downwards, and if he stands there for a second, he's about to shoot lightning at various angles (thankfully, it's really linear).

Level 6 Bonus

Grab the stars while avoiding the eyes. They all pop out from the floor, which makes this a little harder than you would think. Thankfully, this is the last bonus level.

Level 7: Dark Castle

Level 7-1

The first section is just surprisingly easy. Just make your way to the right while moving past the break-away bridges.

The second section is auto-scrolling. Make your way up the spiked wall segment as quickly as possible and take on the enemies as you make your way to the door.

The third and last section is the Fireball mini-boss. Once you beat him, you can exit.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 13 of 20

Well, it doesn't get any easier...or harder, really. Is it me, or is the game being generous with those extra lives as of late?

Level 6: Cloudy Park

(continued)

Level 6-5

The first section is a whole maze made up of those break-away blocks, so fly around if you need to to keep from breaking blocks unless otherwise necessary.

The second section has you moving against the wind...if you jump into it, anyway. If you know what to do, you can actually get through this whole area without getting yourself accidentally blown back.

The third section is a door maze. Go through the fourth door for stars, then go through the second door for the goal (and five Pep Brews!).

Level 6-6

You fight off the Squid mini-boss at the beginning of the level. Take his Spark power-up and go through the door, then break the block above Rick to get him.

The third section has you being blown around by the wind. Again. Make your way to the bottom and into the door. The next section takes place underwater. It's also a maze, where the dead ends lead to stars. If you need some lives, go ahead and explore this place. The frogs lead you in the right direction to the door to the next section.

The fifth section has you flying up with the wind current to the goal. Use your flying ability to get the two stars, Maxim Tomato, Pep Brew and 1-Up before you leave.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 12 of 20

We cover more levels in Cloudy Park, and watch as some enemies finally stop taking forever to make a return appearance from the prequel. About time we had some Mummy Balls.

Level 6: Cloudy Park

(continued)

Level 6-3

The first section has your whole "go from point A to point B" action going here. You'll be clearing out star blocks and keeping enemies off your tail here, but at the same time you'll also be going underwater for a brief spell. It's really nice.

The second section is full of enemies and goes in a spiral path. You'll be forced in a circle unless you can destroy the star blocks in the walls. The door to the next section is in the center.

The third section is vertical. Stand on the break-away blocks to make your way to the bottom and take care of the enemies as you go down. In the second half of this section, the Mummy Balls come back with a vengeance. If you have the Stone ability from the beginning of this section, clearing them out is a snap. At the bottom is the goal.

Level 6-4

The first section has a lot of Kabuus, Mummy Balls and even two of those pipe eels popping out of blocks randomly. What the crap, game? You'll soon face the Needle mini-boss, and if you beat him you'll be able to take a ride on Kine.

The next two sections are vertical scrolling sections. The first one has you dodging Gordos as well as a Stone guy at the end, while the second one has you in a mirror version of the first...except you're swimming.

The fourth and last section has a couple of 1-ups and stars as well as a Maxim Tomato. Avoid the Gordos, take out the enemies and star blocks and grab as many of these things as you can before you reach the goal.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 11 of 20

Cloudy Park? Sounds like the stage name of a hot chick that's a K-Pop star. Maybe it's just me...?

Level 6: Cloudy Park

Level 6-1

The first section takes place in the clouds. This time around, you'll be seeing some air currents rising out of some bottomless pits near the end of this part. You'll also see some Gordos moving around near the last of the bottomless pits, and the air currents rising from those make it harder to get past them without getting hit.

In the second section, you'll see some clouds that act as break-away platforms. They'll form a heart with a door in the center. Enter this door and you'll fight the Parasol mini-boss. Beat him and you'll get Kine.

The third section is another vertical section. Once again, those air currents show up, and they'll push you closer to the top at the beginning. The goal is at the top.

Level 6-2

First of all, you will need Kine at the beginning of this stage. If you don't have him, go get him now.

The first section is just some more standard platforming fare. There are some blocks above the three stars and the 1-Up shortly after all those Gordos. If you have the Ice power-up, you can break them and get all that stuff. Keep these blocks in mind for later on, as these same blocks are in the Rainbow Drop room in the next world.

The second section has you using air currents to reach the platforms. Directly above the one with the 1-up at the top, there is a door. Go in there with Kine.

You'll fight the Squid mini-boss. When you beat him, you'll get a blob in place of Kine (or Kine, if you ditched him in this room). Absorb the Squid's Spark ability and take Kine, then leave the room.

Now return to that door underneath the 1-Up, but this time go right. You'll take on the Stone mini-boss in the next room. Thankfully, combining Kine and the Spark mini-boss makes it easier to pound on this guy. When you beat him, you'll get Rick. Switch from Kine to Rick before leaving this room. You'll be near the door to the next room.

Use Rick and the Spark ability to break the blocks below the Shotzos. Since you basically kill them when you send them down the bottomless pit, you'll finally get access to Coo. Get Coo.

You'll end up in the third and last section. Fly against the wind to the right with Coo. You'll find a door. Beat the Ninja mini-boss here, and take his Cutter power-up. Leave the room, and make your way to the left without getting hit by the Gordos. You'll find a door. Enter it, and use the Cutter power-up to break the blocks guarding the Rainbow Drop here. Congratulations. You just got the hardest of the seven Rainbow Drops.

Leave the room, and you'll find the goal immediately to the left.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 10 of 20

An all-vertical autoscroll section. On a Game Boy game. Told you it would get worse.

Also, a gruesome twosome returns, and this time they have a neat new trick!

Level 5: Red Canyon

(continued)

Level 5-5

First of all, hope you have Rick. Next, swallow one of the Sparkys at the beginning of the level. You're going to need it for the Rainbow Drop here.

When you make it to the end of the section, enter the left door. There's a hidden door above the Maxim Tomato. Enter it and you'll find a bunch of stars. Then head out of that area, and then return to the door on the right at the end of the first section.

The second section is...oh boy..a vertical scrolling section. When you make it to the top, don't enter the first door you see. Instead, let the screen scroll up a little more, and you'll see another door behind a porcupine. Go inside and use the Spark ability to break those black blocks. Get rid of Rick and regain your Spark ability, because you won't be able to jump the bottomless pits here with Rick. From there, you should be able to get the fifth Rainbow Drop.

Head out and you'll be back at the top. This time, the screen won't scroll. Go back down to the first door and you'll be in the third section. Drop down from the center of the screen and use the Spark ability as you fall. You'll be able to clear a path straight to the goal.

Level 5 Boss: Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright

Whispy Woods isn't the only guy making a return appearance here. Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright are back for Round 2 in this game as well. When Mr. Shine (the sun) is in the background while you're fighting Mr. Bright, he'll be shooting sun rays at the ground, which produces stars that you can spit at Mr. Bright. If you swallow one of them, though, you'll get the Fireball ability.

Mr. Shine has the same back-up as before, as Mr. Bright will once again send stars at you from above.

Whenever Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright are in the air next to each other, they'll create a solar eclipse that acts as a full-screen attack that covers the screen except for one section. Stay in that shaded-out section and you won't take damage.

Level 5 Bonus

Mr. Bright will drop stars. Collect those while avoiding his sun beams, and watch out when Mr. Shine bounces and rolls around!

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 9 of 20

In this episode, the difficulty decides to even out for us and lead into a false sense of security. Just wait until next episode, though. Just wait.

Level 5: Red Canyon

(continued)

Level 5-3

You'll see three doors at the beginning. "But Prince, which one am I supposed to go to?" That depends on which animal friend you want. The one on the left is in the water, so (logically) it would take you to Kine. The one in the center is in the sky and gives you Coo. The one on the right is in the "grass" and takes you to Rick. Regardless of which animal friend you want, you'll fight a mini-boss, and the one you fight depends on which door you open. Thankfully, the guys in these doors aren't very hard.

When you get the animal buddy and make it out of the room, you'll be back where you started minus the three doors. There's no turning back at this point. You can also go further to the right. Make your way to the right to the door. Just some more standard platforming.

The second section has some more pipe eels and some strong currents. If you have Kine, you can get to the hidden door past the third set of current pipes. Go in, and if you swallow the Sparky and get his Spark ability, using it will reveal a hidden door. When you defeat all three enemies in this room, don't enter the right one. Instead, go through the hidden one on the left. Instead of a few stars, you'll get a few 1-ups.

The third section is all vertical. Thankfully, it doesn't autoscroll...but in another level, it will. From here, it's just some jumping (and avoiding a rotor thing) upwards towards the goal.

Level 5-4

There's a star below the very beginning of the level. Just watch out for that rotor thing. Avoid the Bronto Burt onslaught as you fly around and use horizontally-cut watermelons on straightened bead necklaces as platforms. (Hey, I tried to be AVGN.)

New mini-boss here: some guy with spikes over his body. He'll move towards you, then he'll try to rocket himself into you. When he hits the wall, his spikes will come out. Inhale those and send them back into him while he's defrocked. When you beat him, you can swallow him for the Needle ability. You'll also get Rick.

The second section has the wind pushing you to the right. You'll see a star block covering another white space after the first bottomless pit. Enter the door behind this star block and you'll find two stars. Grab one and get out of there quickly, then repeat with the other star.

The third section is just a short climb to the top. Remember, if there aren't any air bubbles coming out of a pipe, there's an eel inside. Finally, somebody expects the eel.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 8 of 20

Red Canyon has its own surprises. Hope you like scrolling sections.

Level 5: Red Canyon

Level 5-1

Shortly after the beginning of the level is a room that takes you to another squid mini-boss. When you beat him, you'll get Rick out of the bag.

lolRickRoll

In the second section, there's a star block covering a white part of the wall. If you take out this star block and press Up where it stood, you'll find a hidden Pep Brew and 1-up. Just watch out for those two rotor things.

The third section has some basic platform. If you have no ability, you'll be able to get the 1-up at the beginning of this part. Take out the guy with the baseball bat at the goal with an enemy or an ability, since you can't inhale him.

Level 5-2

The first section is your basic side-scrolling fare complete with a lot of enemies, some of which come at you from the left.

New mini-boss here: a ninja. Inhale the shurikens he sends at you and send them back at him if you have no ability, avoid both the teleport stomp, the grenade he throws after he stomps the ground, and that nifty somersault kick of his. (I have to admit, I love that kick.) Beating him will give you the Cutter ability if you swallow him, as well as Kine. Take him and head onwards.

The third section is auto-scrolling. If you have Kine and the Cutter ability, you can take the lower path and get through it a lot more easily. There are two 1-ups next to the goal, but unless you're fast enough, you probably won't be able to get them.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 7 of 20

With this entry, we finally finish off Iceberg!

Level 4: Iceberg

(continued)

Level 4-3

From the beginning, make your way to the right. You'll meet Chilly the Walrus again, and he fights just like he does in Kirby's Adventure: avoid his attacks and send his ice cubes back at him. Just like in past games, he has the Ice power-up if you swallow him. When you beat him, you'll also get Kine the Fish. Take him.

Head out and you'll be in the second section. Swim around and you'll find both a star and a Maxim Tomato at the middle if you swim upwards past the star blocks. If you have Kine and the Ice ability, you'll be able to tear this section up.

When you enter the third section, that rotor thing will be in front of you. Thankfully, Ice will take care of him immediately. From here, it's a short trip to the goal.

Level 4-4

The stage beings with a fight against the Fireball mini-boss. Take him out, and take both the Fireball ability - and Rick - if you need them. This is especially true of the Fireball ability, since you'll need this - and Kine - for the Rainbow Drop.

The second section is auto-scrolling. Pay attention to enemies and the environment as you make your way to the next section.

The third section is another corridor on rails. When you make your way to the ice blocks, break them with Kine and the Fireball ability. When you make your way to the star blocks below the middle set of ice blocks, quickly ditch your power, swallow a star block, spit the star block back out, and get your ability back. Do this twice. If you do this correctly, you should have a way into the door blocked by the strong currents underneath the star blocks as well as your Fireball ability retained. Go in, and break the ice blocks on the left. You got it!

There's also a 1-Up and a Maxim Tomato near the ice blocks leading to the Rainbow Drop room if you need them. Just break the ice blocks blocking them with the Fireball ability.

From here, leave the room, make your way to the right as normal and just head and it's a short trip to the goal.

Level 4 Boss: Ice Dragon

He has three attacks, and they're all easy to predict. When he spins his tail around for a second, he's going to move around. When he jumps up high into the air and comes towards you, he'll come back down when you're under him and send three icicles out from the ceiling. You can use these as ammunition in case you don't have an ability. When he flashes, he'll shoot out an ice breath attack. And if he jumps up a little bit, he'll send a sheet of ice out at you.

Altogether, he's not a hard boss, and if you have the Fireball ability, you can take him out even faster.

Level 4 Bonus

Avoid the icicles and catch the stars as they come down. That's all, really.

Friday, April 4, 2014

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 6 of 20

...and this is where the game starts getting hard.

Level 4: Iceberg

Level 4-1

The door below the fireball leads to an easily accessible animal buddy. If you have the Fireball ability when you come in here, you'll be able to break the blocks and get the animal body. (Keep this in mind for later, as you'll need Fireball to get the fourth Rainbow Drop.)

The second section introduces you to the ice-breathing penguins. Inhaling and swallowing these guys will give you the last ability in the game that we have yet to show off: Ice. Watch out for the blocks that break when you stand on them!

Next will be the mini-boss. This one is a cube with feet. He'll charge at you, and if he runs into a wall, a rock will come out which you can use as ammunition. He'll also leap into the air and come straight down like a rock, almost exactly like King Dedede in the first KDL. You can swallow him for the Stone ability after beating him if you want.

If you do, the fourth and last section will be a cinch, especially if you have Rick. Just use the Stone ability and you'll be able to make it to the goal.

Level 4-2

In the first section, you'll be blown to the right by the wind. Shortly after the beginning, you'll find two doors. Enter the one on the right and take care of the Parasol mini-boss to get Coo. From there, use Coo to get to the door on the left.

The second section is all vertical, and if you absorbed the Parasol ability from the mini-boss, you'll be able to get to the top without getting hit in the head by an icicle. There's a Maxim Tomato at the top if you need it.

The third section is block bashing time. From here, break the blocks and you'll come across a door. Find the Fireball enemy and take his Fireball power, then head out and break through the ice blocks below. Go left to get the one-up, then continue like normally as going right would take you to that rotor thing that steals your animal buddy. From there, you'll reach the goal.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 5 of 20

We finally take care of the boss and move on to an iceberg. Fun.

Level 3: Ripple Field

(continued)

Level 3-3

The first section is simple enough: it's a romp through both water and platforms, but thankfully it doesn't matter how you get to the door at the other side.

The second section has some eels popping out of pipes. Take down the eels to continue on. After a few eels, you'll find a pit of water that you can jump into. If you have Kine, go down there and get both of the stars before entering the door blocked by the strong currents. This leads to a dark room containing five more stars. If you still have the Spark ability along with Kine, use it here and you'll find a hidden doorway on the right side of the room. Enter it.

It's the Rainbow Drop room. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get the Rainbow Drop with the Spark ability; instead, you'll need the Stone ability. Go to the other end of the room to leave and head out of the dark room the same way you entered it. Get to the other side of the water pit and take care of the eels to make your way to the next section. Before you enter the door to the next section, though, inhale the Stone enemy. You'll get his power-up. Now head back to the Rainbow Drop room and use the Stone ability on top of the blocks. You did it!

The third section is just a one-way trip to the goal made faster by the strong currents. Using Kine and the Stone ability just lets you go through the whole area without taking any damage from the enemies, taking out any effort you would have needed to get through this section otherwise.

Level 3 Boss: Sweet Stuff

Kine will be useful here, since you'll be able to do some real damage to this guy.

If you don't have an ability, just inhale the stars he sends at you and send them back at the boss.

When Sweet Stuff shoots the lasers out of the little angler coming out of his head, stay at the bottom (as long as there isn't a small hill in the ground) and these lasers won't be able to touch you. From there, move away from him to avoid his charge attack.

If you have Kine and the Spark ability, this is even faster. Just avoid his attacks and fire away!

Level 3 Bonus

Yep. More bonus stuff.

Avoid the stars and move around to collect all 15 stars. This one may take a few tries, because of the frantic amounts of movements involved...unless you have Kine, of course!

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 4 of 20

In this episode, the Float Islands theme comes back with a vengeance!

Yeah, I love it, too.

Level 3: Ripple Field

Level 3-1

The Parasol ability that you can get from the Parasol enemy in the first section will protect you against the coconuts that fall off the palm trees and explode. Ditch it after that last coconut, because you're about to find another ability: Stone. Using this will (of course) turn Kirby into a rock. Yes, you can roll down hills.

The second section is the first underwater part of the game. It's definitely not the last, either. Unlike the first KDL game, you can actually shoot a water gun much like you could in Kirby's Adventure. Powers also work, but some of them work to a lesser effect.

You'll find a door that leads to a short corridor full of those enemies that stick to the floor and ceiling and shoot bubbles at you. When you make it to the other side, there's the goal.

Level 3-2

The first section is not only all vertical, it's a piece of cake if you still have the Stone ability from the last stage. Just position yourself in the center of the pit and use the Stone ability. You'll drop straight down and go through the Gordo unfazed.

The second section has some strong currents coming out of those pipes. After those two sets of pipes (swim close to the pipes to avoid the spikes), enter the door between the nooks with the stars. You'll meet a giant squid mini-boss.

This guy is a bit of a pain. Avoid his close-range spark attack as well as the lightning bolts and electric shockwaves he sends at you. When he throws a star, jump and inhale to catch it so you can throw it back at him.

When you beat this guy, you can swallow him to get the Spark ability. You'll also get a chance to take a ride with Kine the Fish. This guy will prove quite useful when you leave the room, as you can use him to swim against the strong currents unfazed. With this, you'll be able to get the four stars near the door to the mini-boss. Also, you can swim solely by using the Control Pad.

When you head down and to the door to the next section, you'll be in a dark room when you reach the other side. If you have Kine and the Spark ability from earlier, you can light this room up. As you do this, you'll be able to find hidden doors and messages while the room is lit up, making this combination useful for more than blasting enemies with light bulbs from the opposite end of the room.

By doing that, you'll be able to find a door at the beginning of the third section that takes you a hidden room with five stars. You'll also be able to find Sparky from Kirby's Adventure after this door.

The fourth section has you back out in the open. From here, it's another short trip to the goal.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 3 of 20

We've only covered two videos before now and we've got almost a third of the game complete? Well...

Level 2: Big Forest

(continued)

Level 2-3

No, it's not.

As we saw earlier, watch out for the Kabuus in the first section. They'll pop up when you least expect them.

The second section is all vertical. If you have Coo and the Parasol ability, this part is easy.

The third section is another mini-boss. This time around, it's a sentient parasol guy with one sandaled foot and the ability to spin around really fast. He'll kick the shoe at you, which you can inhale and send back at him.

If you already have Coo, you won't get him here. Instead, you'll get a black blob. He will pop up if you already have the animal friend that a mini-boss room would normally give you. Touching him will replenish two units of health. There's a slim chance that you might be able to get a gray blob with a little bow on its head. (It's supposed to be some pink girl blob.) If she pops up instead, grab her. She gives you an extra life.

The third section has you going downwards. Take care not to take unnecessary damage from the porcupines.

The fourth section has this rotor guy near the upper-left corner where the three stars are. If you don't have an animal friend, he won't bother you. If you do, however, he comes after you. If he touches you at that point, you lose your animal friend. He flies away if you avoid him for a while, though.

Anyway, from the beginning of the fourth section, it's just a short trip to the goal.
Level 2 Boss: Nelly and Nruff
Use the Nruffs (the small hedgehogs) as ammunition against Nelly (the big hedgehog). Nelly will jump around sometimes, and he'll even throw bombs every once in a while. You can use these as ammunition also if you're fortunate enough.

Level 2 Bonus

Once again, more bonus FAQ stuff that's not in the video.

Avoid the Nruffs and collect all the stars. They'll be moving around like products on a factory conveyor belt, so pay attention!

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 2 of 20

The adventure continues as we enter a forest and find an owl.

Nope, nothing unusual here.

Level 2: Big Forest

Level 2-1

The first section is simple enough, but the second section is even easier. Just shoot an air pellet at the Scarfy. Simple enough. This gives you access to Coo the Owl. You'll be needing him for this stage, as you can fly solely using the Control Pad. He can also fly against wind currents without being brutally pushed back.

At the end of the stage, you'll find Sir Kibble. Swallowing him will give you the Cutter ability, which lets you throw Boomerangs just like Sir Kibble.

Level 2-2

At the beginning of the level, go down and you'll find a door. This leads to the second Rainbow Drop of the game. You'll need the Needle power-up in order to break the blocks above the Rainbow Drop.

To get that, head to the next section. After the two Gordos that guard the Pep Brew, you'll find a porcupine that bares its spines when you get too close. Inhale and swallow him. Congrats! You have the Needle ability! Now keep it for the whole stage.

Thankfully, there's only two sections in this entire stage. Now that you have the Needle ability, go ahead and re-enter Stage 2. Go back to the door below the beginning of the stage, and you'll be able to break the blocks. Two down, five to go.

From there, you can pause the game and exit the stage, since you've already completed it.

GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 1 of 20

Well, it was bound to happen! Welcome to the awesome sequel of a Game Boy classic!

Level 1: Grass Land

Level 1-1

This level is pretty easy.

The little stars that you collect give you extra lives. Collect 7 and you'll get an extra life. This game is longer than the original, and you're going to need all the lives you can get your hands on.

The door in the middle of the second section leads you to a parasol guy that jumps around. If you swallow him, you'll get Parasol. This is one of seven powers in the game.

When you make it to an exit (the door with three stars above it), you'll enter the bonus game. It's just like the one in Kirby's Adventure: just press the A button at the right time, and if you're lucky, you can get the 1-up at the very top! But even if you come close, you'll still be able to get other power-ups, such as a Pep Brew or a Maxim Tomato. Yeah, that makes the game easier.

Level 1-2

The first enemy you see when you begin this level is a fireball that rotates around the edges of a Star Block. Swallowing him will give you the Fireball power-up.

When you make it to the door at the end of the first section, you'll face your first sub-boss of the game. If you don't have an ability, wait for him to rocket into the wall and do your best to avoid him. When he hits the wall, a star will come out (much like the battle against King Dedede from the first game). Inhale the star and send it back at him.

When you defeat this guy, the bag hanging onto the chain comes lose...revealing Rick the Hamster! Walk into him, and the music changes. You'll be able to ride him. If you have an ability, you'll be able to do something different with it that you wouldn't be able to do with Kirby alone.

Level 1-3

If you don't have the Parasol power at the moment, go back to either of the first two stages in this level and go get it.

When you make it past the first two sections, you'll enter a room with different music. It will have a seemingly crystalline wall pattern and some strange blocks. If you have Rick the Hamster and the Parasol ability, you'll be able to break these blocks. Go up and you'll be able to collect the Rainbow Drop. You'll need these to complete this game and get the good ending.

If you still don't have the Parasol yet, you're in luck. Leave the room at the other side, inhale the Waddle Dee with the Parasol at the beginning of the fourth section and get the Parasol ability, then go back in and break the block. Getting the other six will take more effort from here on out.

Level 1 Boss: Whispy Woods

He's back! Yep, it's Whispy Woods again, and he fights a little differently this time.

The strategies are still the same, but when you deplete 1/3 of his energy, the glasses and mask come off, and he starts spitting at you.

He can also twitch one of his roots so that he can stab you from underground as well. If you're at the far left, he won't be able to touch you with it. Either way, this attack only hits in three specific spots.

Despite his new tricks, he isn't that hard. But it is a bit more interesting...

Level 1 Bonus

Isn't covered here, but you have to complete the Bonus Stages in order to get 100% completion as well as the surprises that come with it.

To beat this one, collect all the stars that Whispy Woods spits at you.
