GenericDude1 plays Kirby's Dream Land 2 - Part 1 of 20

Well, it was bound to happen! Welcome to the awesome sequel of a Game Boy classic!

Level 1: Grass Land

Level 1-1

This level is pretty easy.

The little stars that you collect give you extra lives. Collect 7 and you'll get an extra life. This game is longer than the original, and you're going to need all the lives you can get your hands on.

The door in the middle of the second section leads you to a parasol guy that jumps around. If you swallow him, you'll get Parasol. This is one of seven powers in the game.

When you make it to an exit (the door with three stars above it), you'll enter the bonus game. It's just like the one in Kirby's Adventure: just press the A button at the right time, and if you're lucky, you can get the 1-up at the very top! But even if you come close, you'll still be able to get other power-ups, such as a Pep Brew or a Maxim Tomato. Yeah, that makes the game easier.

Level 1-2

The first enemy you see when you begin this level is a fireball that rotates around the edges of a Star Block. Swallowing him will give you the Fireball power-up.

When you make it to the door at the end of the first section, you'll face your first sub-boss of the game. If you don't have an ability, wait for him to rocket into the wall and do your best to avoid him. When he hits the wall, a star will come out (much like the battle against King Dedede from the first game). Inhale the star and send it back at him.

When you defeat this guy, the bag hanging onto the chain comes lose...revealing Rick the Hamster! Walk into him, and the music changes. You'll be able to ride him. If you have an ability, you'll be able to do something different with it that you wouldn't be able to do with Kirby alone.

Level 1-3

If you don't have the Parasol power at the moment, go back to either of the first two stages in this level and go get it.

When you make it past the first two sections, you'll enter a room with different music. It will have a seemingly crystalline wall pattern and some strange blocks. If you have Rick the Hamster and the Parasol ability, you'll be able to break these blocks. Go up and you'll be able to collect the Rainbow Drop. You'll need these to complete this game and get the good ending.

If you still don't have the Parasol yet, you're in luck. Leave the room at the other side, inhale the Waddle Dee with the Parasol at the beginning of the fourth section and get the Parasol ability, then go back in and break the block. Getting the other six will take more effort from here on out.

Level 1 Boss: Whispy Woods

He's back! Yep, it's Whispy Woods again, and he fights a little differently this time.

The strategies are still the same, but when you deplete 1/3 of his energy, the glasses and mask come off, and he starts spitting at you.

He can also twitch one of his roots so that he can stab you from underground as well. If you're at the far left, he won't be able to touch you with it. Either way, this attack only hits in three specific spots.

Despite his new tricks, he isn't that hard. But it is a bit more interesting...

Level 1 Bonus

Isn't covered here, but you have to complete the Bonus Stages in order to get 100% completion as well as the surprises that come with it.

To beat this one, collect all the stars that Whispy Woods spits at you.
