Now that we've defeated all the Robot Masters, it's time to go castle running once again.
Proto Man's Castle 1
This stage borrows elements from Napalm Man, Star Man and Gyro Man's stages.
Be prepared to use Rush Coil, Rush Jet (which works like it did in the last game) and Super Arrow to make some jumps.
A lot of enemies that you'll see in this part of the castle come from Napalm Man and Charge Man's stages. The laser shooting droids from Star Man's stage also make an appearance here.
The two disappearing block sections here are rather nasty. The blocks appear and disappear so quickly you can almost keep time to them. Despite their slanted apperance, they're stable platforms, and they're easy once you plan your strategy and know what to do. If you know what you're doing, you can skip the second part entirely with Rush
You'll see a new enemy after that: orange spherical robots that fly down at you and then encircle you. If you stand stil when they're nearby and shoot them from there, they don't pose a threat.
The boss here is some small, green tank robot. Equip Water Wave and shoot at him, but beware! The boss shoots at you whenever you hit him or if you stand there for a few seconds. Taking as few hits as possible here is recommended. Once he gets fast enough, use Charge Kicks and just keep going back and forth on the boss with it.
Proto Man's Castle 2
Take the left ladder at the start.
You'll be dealing with a lot of spikes. Spikes that travel across the floor, spikes above you, spikes below you, spikes, spikes, spikes.
You'll also see conveyor belts in this section. Watch the floors to see which direction they're going to take you. Use Star Crash to get past all the bomb-dropping robots.
This time around, you'll see enemies from a wide variety of stages. I think this part covers more than half of the game enemy-wise, and is the first of its kind in the series to do that. I might be wrong.
The boss here is a grey robot with shields. He'll walk around with shields revolving around him, and his only attack is to walk directly into you. You can easily jump over him and get some shots in, but you'd better be ready to head to the other side of the screen so you can jump over him again. Crystal Orb also works well here, but you don't necessarily have to have a shot hit the wall and have the three smaller shots do the work for you.
