Don't even ask how you're supposed to figure this out, because I don't even know.
Village
Go right until you reach the hut on the hill, avoiding the monkey's coconuts (you'll be using the A+B cheat for this, since they cause massive damage). Go into this hut.
Shrine
Give the hermit the canteen, and he'll give you a hint: the villagers have the key to the treasure. Get it from them.
Village
Go back to the hut with the pot.
Native House
Give the guy in the house a present: the poetry. He'll give you the island's sacred rock. This is a weapon that replaces the punch, but you're better off using the gun as it does more damage.
Village
From there, go right and jump onto the top of the hill. (Hold Down and press A to do a high jump, as this is the only way to reach it. You have to stand between the fourth and fifth tile and hold Down to enter the mountain cave.
Mountain Cave - 1st Screen
Go left until a big rock appears on the floor (the second rock). Stay on the right side of it, and press Down on the space between the last two flat parts. You'll immediately enter the 2nd screen if you do this right.
Mountain Cave - 2nd Screen
Start going right. Near the end, there is a set of three circular rocks below three stalactites on the ceiling. Duck between the first and second circular rock. You should immediately drop into the third screen.
Mountain Cave - 3rd Screen
Go left to the end of the room. There is a part where there are two thin platforms, each with a small circular platform to the left of it. This is just before you see a rock on the floor. Duck under the one on the left.
