lukenuetzmann plays Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins BLIND - Part 1 of 5

What's this? lukenuetzmann doesn't know what he's doing? Oh, snap!

Well, it makes up for the three guides I did for Super Mario Land. Would have been two, but no, I had to accidentally cover a ROM hack, didn't I? Yes, I did. Oh, well. Lulz (or lack of) were involved and a indeterminable type of time was had by all.

This game would end up being the debut of Wario, who stole the six golden coins and took over Mario's castle home. You'll have to get the coins from his guardians and take the castle back!

GET OUT OF MY HOUSE

You'll have to play the one-time-only intro level before you can do anything else.

Thankfully, it's pretty straight-forward. Grabbing a Starman and killing five enemies before its power wears off (and the music ends) will give you a one-up, as will every subsequent enemy. The blocks with the eyes that look like the spin blocks in Super Mario World can only be destroyed by fireballs. Down+A lets you spin-jump, which lets you destroy all the regular breakable blocks from above (and take out certain enemies for good, such as Koopas).

If you touch a Fire Flower, Mario will have a feather on his head, because 1992 and monochrome. Also, hearts act as 1-Ups, just like in the prequel.

Bells act as continue points, so if you die and have a life remaining, you'll start there when you enter the level again.

The bell above the goal door activates the bonus game. Here, you can get a power-up...or probably nothing, if the crane can't grab anything.

There is also an enemy counter on the HUD at the bottom. If you kill 100, you'll get a heart to drop down from the sky, which you can grab for an extra life.

TREE ZONE

ZONE THAT IS TREE

Anyway, you'll have to complete the first two levels before you can enter the tree.

Outside of Tree

The armadillos can only be beaten up when they're not glowing.

The moles that come out of the ground cannot be destroyed while they're coming out of the ground. You'll have to wait for them to come out of the open before you can beat them.

At one point in the level, the clouds form a finger that points up. If you follow it, you'll hit some invisible blocks that lead to a 1-up.

Also, there's a second bonus game for the bell. Hit one of the switches. If the spark touches an intersection, it has to change direction. The mice further dictate where the spark can go by blocking paths as if they didn't exist. It's like one of those Japanese lotto games or something.

Entrance to Tree

The gel-like stuff is like water you can jump through. Also, love the cowfish.

If you take a hit as Fire Mario, you become Super Mario instead of Small Mario. That's nice.

Yes, that is an exploding Koopa. It only turns into a bomb if you jump on it, thankfully.

If you go down the path with all the cowfish, you'll be able to find the secret level.

Secret Level

Lots of coins, lots of Koopas. Need I say more?

Ant Level

The ants are just like Goombas, while the stag beetles fly straight up for a second whenever they reach the edge of a platform.

The ants that don't have antennae shoot spikes out of their bodies whenever they stop. When the spikes are out, you'll take damage even if you jump on them normally. Fireballs are the best way to go with these guys.

The carrot turns you into Bunny Mario. When you're in the air, press A rapidly to slowly float downwards. With a running jump, you can get some impressive distance with the floating.

Hive Level

Well, you'll be going through pipes while you explore a hornet nest.

The regular bees die after one hit, but the bees with the skull heads can revive themselves. Watch for eyes appearing in the dark honeycombs in the walls.

The big fat bees act like Thwomps. Come close, and they'll try to squash you from above.

Unlike the regular worms, the spiked worms cannot be defeated regularly.

Boss Level

Before you can fight the boss, you'll have to make your way from Point A to Point B (which is usually a pipe to someplace).

Jump on the owls' heads to go places.

To beat the bird boss, wait for it to dive towards you, then jump on its head. Three hits and it's history!

Whenever you beat a boss, you'll get a coin. Get all six coins to open up Wario's castle for the final battle! If you lose all your lives before then, you'll lose all the coins you've collected and you'll have to collect them all again when you go back to your game.
