PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 14 of 14

Welcome to the final battle between yourself and whatever is causing this whole mess. Who will go on to prosper with Gaia?

Entrance of Eden

In the maze, you'll meet the Dino People. They escaped extinction and evolved with the help of the crystal. Some of them will toss fireballs at you, while others try to kick at you, and others send out Blue Slimes that come after you but thankfully can be defeated (and leave behind 300 EP!). These guys can hurt. The 175 EP the Dino People leave behind are worth it, though.

Your main goal here is to reach the teleporter. This will take you to the final boss. You'll enter a pink room with 8 spheres floating around in a ring. This is Bolbox, and he despises you. He considers himself the one that will make it to Eden and prosper along with Gaia.

For some reason, he believes he is the first human. Then he changes into some freakishly giant single-celled organism (or something)

The Final Battle

Hit his head a few times, and then he'll send out one of his eight spheres, which turns into a creature. Whenever you defeat this creature, you'll be able to get a few more EP and heal yourself.

Bolbox has an attack of his own: the ability to extend his head and whack you for a few points of damage. He also does this as you fight the creatures coming out of the spheres, making some fights harder than they should be at times.

The more EP you have here, the better. You'll need to be able to heal on a moment's notice. Hope you farmed in the maze.

The blue sphere creates a jellyfish. After a few hits, it changes into a giant jellyfish that tries to sting you.

The purple sphere is a red Eagle Man with a sword. If you're a human, knock him out of the air, then get close and keep mashing the attack button to get rid of him.

The red sphere is a giant cockroach. Whack it, then immediately walk away. Jump over it as flies around in a circle, then turn around and whack it again when it's right behind you. There is also a nasty trick to beating this guy, though: trap the giant cockroach on the left side of the room. Whenever the cockroach comes close to the left edge of the room, he just goes straight down. You can easily get behind him and whack him with the axe over and over again if you're a human.

The yellow sphere is a pink palette swap of Debustega from Chapter 2. It even fights with the same strategy, except you don't have platforms to hide above from him with this time. Hit him, then immediately walk away without jumping.

The green sphere is a green ancient fish that swims around in the air. I don't even.

The green sphere is a green ancient fish that swims around in the air. I don't even. And now for something I had to get on GameFAQs, because I had a hard time noticing the pattern and I've only played through this once: you have to get close to the ground before he can bite you, then keep smacking him. You may have to change into something you've recorded that you can get neck extensions on to get the job done. If you want to stay as a human, though, here's a really helpful hint: standing between his head and tail will not hurt you. I've noticed this in other videos, and it helps quite a lot. Just be prepared to run and jump quite a bit.

The white sphere is a little Ikustega. You won't even be able to hurt him. Just let him run to the left.

The orange sphere is a giant Iguanadon. He attacks you with a scream attack. If you're playing as a human, you can get up close and repeatedly whack him until he dies.

The cyan sphere is flashing meat. Eat it! This heals you again and also gives you 1000 EP!

Once you get rid of all eight spheres, whack away at Bolbox one last time. This time, it's the end for him. He basically vanishes from the top down, one molecule at a time.

Once Bulbox disappears, Gaia talks to you one last time. Had Bolbox won, Earth would have no future. She tells you to come forth. Keep walking to the right. There. You've ended the game.

Enjoy your long ending cutscene, where we find out that the Martians were responsible for bringing the crystals to Earth to speed up evolution, failing, and then choosing to wait until Earth is advanced enough to communicate with them before trying again.

You are then bestowed with "Intelligence" in order to create a "Civilization." If used wisely, the Earth will become wonderful. If used unwisely, a harder trial than what you have went through will occur.

Y'know, thinking about real life, I'm wondering...have we created a harder trial already? Drop me a line, somebody.

Your character is welcomed into the Sun Family and enters the Time Trans to Eden, which we never even get a glimpse of. Then the credits roll.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 13 of 14

We did it! We're finally a human being! With that said, we must head to "the one to the north."

100,000 points! Time to do things.

Now that you're out of the water, you can transform into a human. There's a trick to doing it. You'll need Cat Like Jaws and a Rabbit Shaped Body. From there, you can finally get the Ramothecus Body. Yep, the Ramothecus Body is now available to you. From there, go to Body on the Evolution Menu and choose "Evolve Further." You'll change into a monkey. Choose it again and you'll become a small human with a club. Evolve your body again and you'll be a small human with a stone axe. From there, all you can do is increase your body size one more time to get the large human form. Now that you're a human, all you can do is increase and decrease your body size (assuming you have enough EP). At least you can still "heal."

You're not as powerful as a human being, but you do have some range as well as more speed. You'll also have 80 HP and a little bit more defense in your large form, which is really nice.

Domain of Ditryma

If you have powerful jaws, you can kill these guys in one shot. Since you destroyed the Bird-Man Fort, they have no wings and they look at the sky and cry like an emo kid after every few steps. Serves you right for going against the natural plan, you morons!

If you're in human form, you can strike them, back away and then strike again.

When you stand in the circle of rocks at the right end of the area and press B at the center, you'll be transported to Africa.

Domain of Queen Bee

If you go back to the teleporter from the African continent, you'll have this battle.

Yup, she's back. She mentions the one who lives in the north, since he has made the lesser creatures powerful again with the power of the crystal.

The same strategy from the first fight applies. She can still kill in a few hits, so be careful.

Stand in the circle of stones at the right end of the area and press B to go back to South America.

Domain of Tyrasaurus

Yep. Man fights dinosaur.

The Tyrosaurus will tell you that the one who lives up North saved the Tyrosaurs from extinction and made them a very important ancestor.

Anyway, when you beat up stuff with the human, you won't be able to knock enemies back, but you can whack stuff over and over again and keep them from attacking. At the same time, you can't be knocked back either. As a result, the Tyrasaurs are much easier when you're a human. Just let them come to you and they're walking targets.

Entrance of Eden

You'll meet up with Cro-Maine, another caveman who used to be part of the Monkey Trible only to be kicked out for evolving. The one who lives to the North treats him well, and let's him guard the cave to Eden.

To beat him, make a running jump and hit him so you don't get smashed off the screen (and forced to start the battle over). From here, walk under him when he jumps, turn around, then hit him. This will cancel out his club swing, which will take you out of the area and force you to start over if he knocks you into the left side of the cave entrance. From there, walk under him, turn around, and hit him again. If you're a human, this is easy.

Beating him will net you up to 5000 EP for the upcoming battle.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 12 of 14

In this entry, we take the final steps to becoming a human, which is what we're going to be doing by the end of all this.

Over 70,000 EVO points, thanks to Domani of Eohip. That will help.

Cave of Monkey Human

Wow, these monkeys are advanced.

Anyway, these guys will throw rocks and jump around like the Trilobites from the beginning of the game. They only leave 50 EP, but they heal 14 HP, making it worth it to take these guys on and get their battle plans to a science. Some of them also try to crush you with heavy boulders, which can take off half your health or more. If you see them stop as you approach, jump back immediately, then attack as he stands there clapping.

You can use Up and Down on the Control Pad to move the wooden elevators in the cave up and down.

When you make it to the end of the maze, you'll meet another Yeti. It's probably the baby Yeti that got spared (the game doesn't really explain), and this guy can destroy you in seconds. You can move out of the way of the uppercut at the end of his combo, but you'll have to be quick.

What you need to do is go all the way to the right. From here, you can jump over him when he punches at you, but if you can't do it in time, you can always face backwards and kick him with your hind legs with the A button. Keep healing yourself with the EVO points, you have, too.

When you beat this guy, you'll get 1000 EP.

Final Ocean

When you head here, Gaia will tell you that the crystal have turned the Rogons into violent creatures, and that they are attacking the whales.

Also, the little Loch Ness monsters give you 100 EP, in case you're still needing to evolve.

The Kuraselache boss is now a regular enemy here, and thankfully, they are not as much of a nuisance as they

The Rogons are basically Fish Men. They'll ride on small sharks and shoot darts at you. Weird. They also give you 100 EP each. You're better off bringing EVO points with you, however, as these guys can tear you apart.

You'll then fight the boss Rogon. If the ball of light he sends at you hits you, you'll be blinded and you won't be able to see him unless he's in your shortened line of sight. He can also claw and scratch at you, but all of his attacks are close-ranged.

When you beat him, you'll get 1200 EP.

Continue going left, and you'll enter a throne room with cheering dolphins in it. You'll meet the Whale King. He is grateful that you defeated the Rogons, and he will blow away the clouds covering the African continent. He also has a new body for you.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 11 of 14

In this entry, we enter the fifth and final chapter of the game. Get ready to see and take on numerous creatures.

Good thing I have all those EVO points, right?

Domain of Hynodon

When you enter the cave, you'll meet the Yeti. Regardless of how the conversation goes, you'll have to fight him. The best thing to do here is jump back when he jump forward, then jump forward and bite him.

When you beat the Yeti, he'll call for his son as he dies. His son watches him die, then you get to eat the dad's meat for 200 EP while his son runs away...then you have to face the mother.

The Yeti Mother has an ice breath attack as well as a massive hand clap that does just as much damage. Just use the same strategy you used against the first Yeti. Be ready to heal, though. If you can keep getting her to use the ice breath attack, you can jump over the breath attack and bite her. If she gets too close, face away and mash the A button to kick her with your hind legs and get her away from yourself if you're still on four legs.

Being well-evolved will definitely give you an edge in this battle.

When you beat the Yeti Mother, the baby runs away looking for Mommy and Daddy. Gaia will then tell you that even if you had not defeated the Yeti, a stronger power would have gotten them first. You'll then head to the final era: the era of Early Man!

Chapter 5: Early Man

26~3 Million Years B.C.

As you begin the chapter, Gaia will finally mention the crystals and that the crystals have gone evolution to go horribly wrong. She's still trying to figure out who would bring them here and who, though. All will be revealed in this chapter!

Well, we now have the Western Hemisphere to deal with this time.

Final Step To Evolve

Well, it's official. We have the squirrels to kill (again) and berry bushes to eat. But the best is yet to come!

Domain of Sincerous

You'll learn about the creatures that can hold "Tools" in their front legs which cause great damage. Human beings, perhaps?

The moose here give you 70 EP apiece. Just watch out for those charge attacks.

Domain of Fish of Prey

Oh, hey, we're a seal.

Anyway, the piranhas here bite. What else are they going to do? Evade first, then attack.

Domain of Sea Otter

Welcome to Sea Otter paradise! Here, there are otters to beat up and fish to eat. The otters here are pretty harmless. Just watch out for the shells they break up and throw at you.

Domain of Alligator

Same environment, different creatures. Here, we have alligators who want to rip you to shreds. Thankfully, you should have the best jaws in the game at this point.

Domain of Grizzly

Holy crap. The bears actually scratch at you for a good amount of damage, but if you can kill one, you'll get 150 EP and heal 13 HP. Nice.

Now you have no excuse not to evolve. Just be ready to take a bit of a beating if you want to farm off of them.

Forest of Segosaurus

YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD

Anyway, if you let them be, they'll tell you about a creature they've never seen before. It has the face of a cat and the body of a rabbit. Hmmmm...

You'll then leave the area.

You can come back and kill these guys at 200 EP a pop, though.

Domain Eohip

Oh, hey, prehistoric horses.

Despite the fact that they can kick you with their hind legs and swing at you with their front legs, they're pretty weak. At 100 EP apiece, this is another nice place to farm EP.

Domain of Saber Tiger

These things give you 150 EP each. America, land of plenty? Indeed. They can tear you apart if you're not careful, though.

Actually, we're in South America now, but who cares?

Domain of Condor

You'll hear that the condors have seen a silver object in the sky that looked like a bird flying.

Before you leave this area, go up to the top. The condors are easy to kill, as are the amphibians at the summit. The blue crystal here will give you an impressive 5000 EP, so get it!

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 10 of 14

Not only do the dinosaurs exist in their little corner of the world, but we also have bird people. What the heck is going on here?!?

After twenty minutes, I'm back up to over 15,000 EVO Points.

Land of Survival (South)

The Tyrasaurs still exist.

THE TYRASAURS STILL EXIST.

Anyway, when you enter this area, they initially confuse you for the Yeti until they find out you're not the Yeti. Head to the right as you trounce these guys.

Domain of Balrium

The little rhinos here have escaped the Yeti, but they're stupid enough to run into the Australian desert in a vain attempt to survive, let alone exist. They leave 90 EP each.

Anyway, their little head whack takes about 7 or so HP off of you, so be ready to bite them, especially if they charge or bite at you.

When you go south after completing this area, you'll find out that the world map wraps around itself on the north and south ends.

The North Pole

The penguins slide into you, but they don't do too much damage. They leave 50 EP apiece.

The seals also try to spin jump into you, and leave 100 EP apiece, making this a rather nice EP farming ground if you have powerful enough jaws and feel like fighting them.

Domain of Mammoth

When you meet up with the Mammoth, he'll think you're a part of the Yeti tribe and tries to dispose of you. You'll have to fight him and his two brothers.

Avoid the bubbles he spits out of his trunk and bite him.

If you can trap one into a corner, keep biting him until he dies. He won't be able to fight back at all. Each mammoth leaves 250 EP and heals 30 HP, which is nice if you're near death.

After you beat the three Mammoth brothers, you'll meet a pink Mammoth. Apparently, this is a female, and she tells you about the mountain to the southwest. You'll be able to find the Ice Pole spirit there. By finding the spirit, however, you'll be able to end the chapter.

You can kill her afterwards and get 250 more EP if you want.

?

This is an ice pillar. When you move right, you'll eventually be stopped and taken to a castle in the clouds by a Pterodactyl.

Fort Bird-Man

The lances on those flying bird guys hurt. Some of them throw spears from the top of a green Tritops, too.

When you make it all the way to the end, you'll enter the castle. Here, you'll meet up with eagles that carry swords and swing them at us. They're probably gryphons. I can't tell because of the arms.

Anyway, the teleporters take you to different parts of the castle, making it pretty easy to get lost unless you actually map the place out on paper.

After looking at the map, just go down like normal and jump the pit to enter the platform. Enter it three more times. Go right, drop down the pit and go left. Enter the teleporter, then enter it again. After this, go left and jump the pit and you'll meet the boss. If you're using the map I've linked to, it's A, C, B, J, F, E, I, L. (Thankfully, I do a little better explaining where to go and how to get there this time around.)

The red crystal here changes you into an elephant for a limited time.

When you make it through L, you'll meet the Bird-King. He mentions a crystal that has allowed them to continue to evolve, and he wants you to join them. Say no, and you'll fight him.

Whenever he sends those two orbs at you, jump straight up. He's pretty easy to hit multiple times. Just be ready to heal. When you beat the Bird-King, you'll get 1600 EP. The castle will begin to fall apart because the power of the crystal is gone, so head into the teleporter and you'll be back on the world map.

Domain of Hynodon

When you come back, the wall of ice blocking the cave will be gone.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 9 of 14

Well, it's time to explore. There's not much in this entry, but it's something.

I just decided to attack the rats before starting this video so I could get EVO Points without dying.

Domain of Prime Bird

Be careful here, as there are bottomless pits to go along with those birds. Thankfully, if you fall down one, you don't die. Instead, you're sent back to the map screen.

The birds can easily be killed in one hit if you have powerful enough jaws, but their attack hits a few times. It's pretty easy to lose 5 HP to one of them if you're not careful.

At least the birds drop 70 EP. That's nice.

Exit of Mt. Snow

Just the exit from Mt. Snow. No big deal...almost.

The pigs in the cave at the bottom and to the left give quite the experience. If you go further to the left, you'll meet the dinosaurs, who are somehow still alive. The Tritops here give more experience. If you keep going left, you'll run back into the Bull Ikustega from earlier.

Domain of Hynodon

The big cats give you 100 EP apiece, making this a really nice EP farming area if your jaws are powerful enough. Too bad you have to keep entering the area over and over to get the Hynodons to re-spawn.

There's a cave at the end, but you won't be able to enter it yet because of the huge ice wall blocking your path.

Land of Survival (North)

Well, since we can't enter that door, let's go to Africa and OH DEAR GOD THERE IS A DINOSAUR HERE

Thankfully, this is an easy to place to stock up on EVO points if you have the best jaws.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 8 of 14

In this episode, we see a cutscene that puts the Day of Lavos to shame. No, really, for something simple it actually does a good job.

Almost 37,000 EVO points? Yes, please. At this point, I spend a whole hour farming for EVO Points for future videos.

Domain of Tyrosaurus

Good lord, the Tyrasaurs have some range.

Anyway, keep fighting the Tyrousaurs until the screen shakes. You'll get a message saying that the asteroids are hitting the Earth. Thankfully, Gaia opens the Time Trans and saves you. After this, you'll get what's probably one of the most screwed-up cutscenes I've seen in a Super Nintendo game: the asteroids hitting the ground as dinosaurs lay dead. Some of them are even crushed by rocks. Good lord.

The good news is that you have a chance to evolve into a mammal.

Chapter 4: Ice Age

65~36 Million Years B.C.

Iced Coast

According to the brown crystal, evolution is very slow in this age, especially for mammals. You also have a chance to evolve into a human being.

Cave of Judgment

Once you go in, you'll be able to speak to the Syrocasaurus spirits, who will judge you worthy of becoming a mammal. You can either stay a reptile and change into another creature, such as a bird, or you can choose to become a mammal. If you become a mammal, though, you won't be able to change back.

Since I've been wanting to cover beating the game as a mammal, we're changing into a mammal.

When you change into one, you'll lose all your EP (again) and you'll become a tiny rat. From here, you'll be able to change into other creatures, including a human being.

Cave of Deltadium

When you enter the cave, you'll find out that some of the dinosaurs are still (inexplicably) alive despite the Ice Age that has hit the world. They're trying to take out the mammals in order to reclaim the world. Hmmmm...

Anyway, the rats here are weak, even if you've just become a mammal. They only give you 10 EP each, but it's still a nice early stomping ground for this chapter.

Door to Mt. Snow

When you enter this place, you'll see some Bull Ikustega, some pig creatures as well as...a Tritops. Apparently the rumors are true.

You can also eat the plant life around here (including the leaves on the trees!) to refill your health if necessary.

Domain Paramis

Here, you do nothing but kill squirrels and go to the right. At 30 EP and the fact that they don't even try to attack you, this is a nice EP farming spot regardless of what you're playing as. However, they do leap around a lot.

Classic Game Room reviews E.V.O.: The Search For Eden

I'm surprised I haven't shared this here yet. It's Classic Game Room's review of EVO: The Search For Eden on Super Nintendo!

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 7 of 14

As you can see, there is a lot that we can do in this chapter of the game. You can even become an airborne creature if you want!

Since the last video, I climbed to over 10,000 EVO Points. Not surprisingly, I upgrade the jaws, get smaller, and get the best tail.

Domain of Prime Frog

The second time around, you'll meet the boss: a giant brown frog who's pretty angry that you're in his domain.

Bite everything in sight, including the baby frogs that it sends after you, as they drop meat when you kill them. Each frog nets your 4 HP in addition to 10 EP, so if you need those last few EP to heal fully in case you come close to your untimely demise, these guys will help.

The boss will jump around and sends its own clones after you. That's it. Having the Tyrasaurus's Jaws will help, as you can land 20 HP per hit on this guy when he gets too close.

This boss is pretty easy compared to the others you've fought so far, and beating him (her?) will net you up to 2000 EP.

Domain of Tritops

Enter the area where you fought the boss one last time. It's the Triceratops's home now, and they'll definitely defend it with those big horns of theirs! Thankfully, killing one will net you 90 EP and heal 5 HP, which makes this the best farming ground so far this chapter.

The melons here also heal 5 HP, making this a decent healing spot, too.

Ocean of Plesusaurus

The dinosaurs around here give you 100 EVO Points! And the mollusks give you 500! Nice!

Also, the mollusks attack like the Trilobites in Chapter 1, except they have the potential to deal even more damage. Be careful when facing one of these things.

Mt. Brave

Watch out when facing the Pterodactyls, as they can pick you up, carry you off and drop you back down to the ground for damage (or out of the level). At least they give you 100 EP each when you kill them.

Instead of making your way to the right, you should make your way up instead. If you do that and making a running jump to the left, you'll get changed to a bird form. While it's nice, you'll have to power yourself up all over again So you'll have to head all the way left to exit the level. There, you've cleared Mt. Brave.

There is a cloud that moves around on the map, and if you can somehow get to it with the bird form, you'll end up in the River of Asteroid (Map by Tropicon), which is an optional cloud maze. If you can somehow get through it, you'll get a hint that aliens are bringing crystals onto the planet...something that isn't mentioned in the game until later. (thanks FailureBiWinning)

Domain of Pronesaurus

These guys leave 200 EP when you kill one? Well, shucky ducky quack quack quack, this just keeps getting better!

If you don't kill them in one hit, they'll try to hit you with a well-animated spinning attack. Thankfully, the Tyrasaurus Jaws can do an insta-kill.

Still, that's pretty well-animated.

Domain of Omosaurus

Hey, dinosaurs of the two-legged variety!

The dead rats heal you slightly, believe it or not.

Anyway, the Omosaurs try to run up to you and bite you. If your jaws are at their most powerful, you can take them down in a mere two hits. These guys also leave 200 EP each.

Domain of Tyrosaurus

I guess these guys are supposed to be Tyrannosaurus Rex. I can't tell.

Anyway, do not join these guys unless you wanted to be taken out of the area and shown your horrible future death at the hands of meteorites.

These guys are as easy as the Omosaurs were, and they leave 250 EP apiece. They also heal 27 HP, which is pretty generous. The thing is, you need plenty of hit points and plenty of defense, and you'll need to learn how to move in order to keep from getting hit: strike, then back away.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 6 of 14

In this entry, we play around with our vast evolution options, fight new enemies and save a baby Triceratops.

Since last video, I bulk up a bit on EVO Points for better jaws, a dorsal fin, a better tail and the Ptenodon's Crest.

Domain of Polsaurus

Well, we have a better shot of surviving now.

Domain of Syrocosaurus

There's a Triceratops at the beginning. Oh, snap. Thankfully, this Triceratops has something else on her mind. Her child is missing and she wants you to leave her alone. As long as you move to the right and don't attack her, you're good.

Doamin of Brosasaurus

You spell "domain" right every other time, but you can't do it here? What's with you, Enix?

*facepalm*

Domain of Brosasaurus

Well, this guy's eating a tree. I think I'll hit this guy and see if he does anything. No? Okay, chow down. Wait, he moved and then he whacked me with his head like he was doing a uppercut and now he's mad and he's doing 2 or 3 damage apieFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

If you have the Tyrasaurus's Jaws, you can kill these guys in a mere three hits. At 80 EP, this is an even better place to farm for EP once you get the most powerful jaws for this chapter. Just be sure to back away after you bite them.

Domain of Prasauro

More plant eaters. Yay.

If you have the Tyrasaurus' Jaws, these guys are a one hit kill for an easy 50 EP. A nice alternate farming area if you need one.

If you don't kill them in one shot, they will let out a yell that does a little bit of damage if you don't kill them in time.

Domain of Segosaurus

That's better. You'll get 80 EP a pop from each Stegosaurus you kill, and the Tyrasaurus' Jaws will also one-shot them.

Domain of Prime Frog

Oh, snap! There's the Triceratops' kid, and those frogs are basically making his life miserable! Chase after them and hit them if you want, then head to the right. If you come back, you'll face a boss. Have plenty of EVO Points when you return.

Domain of Syrocosaurus

If you come back here after going to Domain of Prime Frog, the baby Syracosaurus will be back with its mother. You'll hear about the legend of Mt. Brave, where a dinosaur climbed to the summit and given the chance to become a new creature.

I experiment with evolution here. I eventually end up going back to four legs due to the difficulties of being completely upright.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 5 of 14

In this entry, we enter the age of dinosaurs and evolve even further.

I have a load more EVO points since the last video. They're going to be useful for the boss battle coming up.

Desert Time Trans

Megausu will come back and tell you that you should have listened. He then sends Queen Bee after you. She's pretty ticked off at you for beating her husband, and wants to destroy you herself.

Her main attack is her diving bite attack. It can take quite a bit of HP off, making her able to kill you in a mere two hits. Her stinger doesn't fire as fast though, but it still kinda hurts.

There is a pattern to follow. Jump at her and bite when he dives down, and get away when he flies back up. Avoid the stingers (running and jumping helps with this very much) she shoots out, then get ready for her to dive again. She'll always repeat the "dive, fly up and shoot three times" pattern, so she's actually easier than the video makes her out to be.

For best results, keep the Queen Bee in the center...and don't run towards her when she's up in the air to shoot those stingers at you, or else you're definitely going to get hit. Just like the King Bee, not standing below her between the diving bite attack and the stinger shots also helps.

When you beat the Queen Bee, you'll get 2000 EP. Now that the Amphibians have the upper hand again, evolution will be able to progress as normal and the plants can grow again. You'll then lose all your EP again...and you'll become a reptile. Once again, you're weak and ugly. That'll change soon enough, though.

Time for the next age! Gaia will also tell you that King Bee found out about a crystal, and that
the crystal makes whoever has it bigger in size. Gaia has a strange feeling about this...

Chapter 3: Age of Dinosaurs

200~65 Million Years B.C.

Door to Dina Continent

Well, here we are.

The yellow crystal will tell you about the wonders of experimenting with evolution in this age. You can have either two legs or four. Two legs let you jump higher, while four-legged creatures have higher defense but your jumping ability will be limited. Shortly after, you'll hear whispers about how many reptiles have challenged Mt. Brave...and how whoever makes it up there will usher in another new age.

Marsh of Prime Frog

The frogs will run away and try to hit you with their tongues, but they're pretty weak.

Marsh of Amphibians

Well, the Bull Ikustega have evolved a little bit (and overtaken the Timid Ikustega), but they're still not any stronger. They have become worried because reptiles have eaten all the plants. They should really be worried about you.

Domain of Tecodonto

If you can catch up with any of the Tecodonto here and bite them, be sure to move under them when they try to jump on you in retaliation.

The caterpillars here do a good job of healing you, but you probably won't need them...not yet, anyway.

Domain of Polsaurus

The Polsaurs charge...into each other. Nope, nothing threatening there. They're kinda like the headbutting dinosaurs from the Super Nintendo version of Jurassic Park (whose name escapes me right now). They can charge into you if they don't have a buddy nearby, though.

Even in your initial form, you can kill them in one hit. They're extremely weak, making the Domain of Polsaurus a nice grinding spot. You won't have any problems moving left and right here, 20 EP at a time.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 4 of 14

In this entry, we start facing the insects that are devouring the food across the land in an attempt to give land creatures the edge and the ability to evolve.

Since the last video, I spent an hour getting to almost 6000 EVO Points. As a result, I'm able to evolve some things and bump my stats way up.

If you're in one of the lands long enough, day turns to night. You can then attack the creatures while they're sleeping for a free hit.

Land of Boss Ikustega

Now you meet one big one. To beat Debustega, keep away from him and bite him when he lands on the ground. You'll definitely want to evolve a little bit before you take him on.

He can also spit green balls at you. Acid, perhaps?

If you have the Power Tail or better, you can reach the dragonflies. They have more than one hit point, so if you don't want to get hit after you knock them down, get some powerful jaws along with that tail or back off as they're coming down before turning around and biting them again. They give you 30 EP, making them worth the effort to take down.

Land of Boss Ikustega

Well, now that we've levelled up, getting some damage on this guy is a lot easier. Your best strategy is to stay on one of the higher platforms and bite Debustega when he's leaping up to your level. Doing that will stun him and bring him back down, which makes timing it right just perfect.

When you defeat him, you'll be able to get up to 400 EP. Head to the right, and you'll meet the Elder of Ikustega. He'll be relieved that you beat Debustega. When he asks you to do him a favor, say yes. He'll tell you that there used to be a lot of plants and that the insects has evolved quickly and have started eating them all up as a result. They have refused to co-exist with the Ikustega and he needs you to take them down.

Just walk to the right and you'll leave the area.

Domain of Profasu

There is now a third fork at the first area. Go there and you'll enter the Domain of Profasu. This is the road that will lead you up north to the end of the chapter.

The Profasu are basically amphibian-sized cockroaches, and they'll scuttle into you in an attempt to beat you up. You'll have to be quick to beat them if your jaws are not strong enough, as they will fly away if you don't kill them in one hit or you're not quick enough to bite them again. These guys leave 40 EP for you, making the Domain of Profasu a really nice place to farm EP.

Domain of Giant Bee

Making it all the way to the right in the Domain of Profasu takes you to an area with giant bees in it. The bees fly around and try to sting you, and they also try to grab the tiny Ikustega and run off with them. This distracts them from you, so take advantage and bit the bees for a free hit. These bees drop 50 EP. They also recover 6 HP, which also make them worth it, assuming you have jaws powerful enough to take them down in one hit.

The Ikustega bones and the tiny red dragonfly heal you slightly.

The only problem with this area (which is bearable after a while) is the slight dip in the frame rate.

Land of Insect

This is an even better farming point than the Profasu and Giant Bee domains. You still have the giant bees, but they won't be able to attack you at all because they're too busy carrying those tiny Ikustega around. Since these things will always keep spawning, you can definitely farm EP here.

Cave of King Bee

Well, if those bones are a tell-tale sign, the King Bee must be strong.

An Ikustega (probably the dad of the kid that followed the elder around) walks out and is about to collapse right in front of you. He asks you to eat the food he's collected in order to prepare for the King Bee. Eat it, as it heals 49 HP and gives you 1000 EP. Thanks, game.

Once you enter the cave, eat the eggs as well as the little blue worms that pop out. At 20 EP apiece, these are a great way to get stronger at the last second if you need just a little bit more.

Remember, it's the eggs that don't wobble that contain the blue worms.

Once you make to the end, it's just you and the King Bee. Don't stand below it and stay out of the way whenever it shoots out the stingers, as those stingers pack a punch and they can end you instantly. Keep on moving - and quickly! - and they should hopefully miss you.

The best thing to do prior to this battle is to get the best tail, and evolve your dorsal fin to one of the 1000 EP varieties in case you run low on health. From there, you can jump as high as the ceiling and hit this guy before he can attack, canceling all that stinger stuff out and causing the King Bee to reposition himself.

If the King Bee flies into the ceiling, run like hell to avoid the stingers.

When you beat him, you'll get 1200 EP.

Walk all the way to the right, and you'll come out of the cave. You'll meet a dragonfly named Megausu who didn't agree with a lot of thing the King Bee did. He'll tell you that the Sand Eater is near, and that he's pretty powerful.

Desert of Sand Eater

From here on out, the path is linear.

Avoid the tentacles and the sand they spit out, and just make your way to the right.

Desert of Edosaurus

The Edosaurus will basically tell you that if you're not a reptile, you're screwed. Guess what? We don't care. And these guys are going to be chewed up.

The Edosauruses dig into the sand and try to tail whip you in retaliation. They give you 80 EP, which is pretty nice.

The brown creatures that look like worms coming out of the sand heal you when eaten.

Desert of Mosuchop

The Mosuchops come out of the sand to try and attack you. If it is night, they will come out of the ground and walk around due to the cooler temperatures. Thankfully, you can see them coming and bite them as soon as they come out. They give a good amount of EVO Points, so I end up getting more points here before the next video.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 3 of 14

In this entry, we bring oxygen to the planet, then we head to the next era to live as a land mammal.

Domain of Cepalas

The shell-armored fish move into your path in groups. Since they give 30 EP apiece, beating these guys and letting them re-spawn for EP farming is a really nice idea, especially if you need to raise your maximum HP to fight the upcoming boss.

Once you enter the cave, there's really no going back.

Cave of Origin

If you ever find a flashing piece of meat that glows red and green, eat it! You'll get a bigger EP and HP boost than usual, as you'll earn five times the experience and five times the HP recovery that you normally would from the monster that left it. The flashing meat shows up at random when you defeat an enemy, so be ready for it when it shows up.

When you enter the cave, be on the lookout not only for Trilobites but also for Spiked Squid. When you're above them, they'll rocket upwards and try to stab you for some quick damage.

After leaving the first screen of the cave, you'll notice the seaweed whispering to one another. The Sterolites are trying to create a new world using oxygen. The Kuraselaches, however, are getting in the way.

Domain of Kuraselache

The sharks can bite and tail whip. When they bite, they bite and hold they grip on your for a second to achieve an extra hit. If you have powerful jaws, the 80 EP from their meat is more than worth it.

The starfish heal you when eaten.

As your progress, you'll hear the Strolites talk to each other. If they could move across the ocean without sticking to the bottom, the Kuraselaches wouldn't be a problem. You'll also find out the boss is here.

When you enter the cave at the end, you'll meet the boss.

The trick to fighting bosses in this game is to have a lot of EP. The more you have, the better. That way, you can increase and decrease your body size (or do any evolution) for the sole purpose of refilling all your health. Yes, when you evolve, you refill all your health.

Using the Spiraled Horn and hitting him from behind with it works pretty well. The horn will break if you run into the boss three times, but you can get the horn again and attack the boss with it some more.

Another real trick to use against this boss is stay close to a wall. When he runs into a wall, he'll be stunned for a few seconds. Use this to your advantage and score a few extra hits on this bozo!

When you beat this guy, you'll get four pieces of sushi that give you 250 EP each. Nice.

When you leave the cave, you'll find out that all the enemies are gone and that the Strolites are making oxygen. Go above the cave and go right.

Coast of Pange

The name is obviously supposed to be Pangea.

Normally, if you went here before beating the boss and jumped out of the water by holding Up and Right and jumping up to the land with B, you would lose health until you went back in due to the lack of breathable oxygen. But since you've beaten the boss, you become a land creature with arms and legs! You have lungs instead of gills! Yay, evolution!

When you head to the right, you'll be ushered into the Land Age, and you'll turn into an amphibian. You'll lose all your EP (making the EP you got from the boss a moot point) and all your upgrades. You'll be starting from scratch all over again...

Chapter 2: Early Creatures of Land

300~230 Million Years B.C.

Amphibians and insects are already on land. There should be a lot of plants, but something is wrong...

Coast of Pange

The crabs here will heal you if you eat. Not that you need them right now, but...

The brown crystal tells you that if you increase the size of your tail, your jumping ability will get better and your max HP will increase. This should be a high priority if you want to survive.

When you leave this area, you'll be able to choose from two new ones.

Empty Land

When you enter the eastern fork, you'll be here. You'll then hear whispers above you, talking about the green crystal, which has the power to return you to an earlier form that you've saved under Record of Evolution. (Which means if you wanted to, you could save a powerful creature you created during your last game, eat this crystal, and be able to transform into it and play as it earlier in the game than intended.) The person talking to this "Captain" has his misgivings, but the Captain will take responsibility for anything that happens. This won't be the last you'll see of these unknown entities...

Anyway, unless you've beaten Debustega, you won't be able to go any further.

Ocean of Pange

Take the western fork instead. When you jump in the water, you'll go from being able to walk to being able to swim. You'll stay this way until you jump back out of the water and onto dry land.

You can attack the Coelafish here for EP, but they're not gonna give you much. They stay as they are because it is difficult for them to fight against the land creatures. Poor guys...

Land of Timid Ikustega

Apparently, you're an Ikustega. That's not timid. Gee, thanks, game.

Anyway, when you chase after the Ikustega here, they run away in fear. They're still not fast enough to escape you, though, so chow down and get some easy EP. You can kill them Mario style by jumping on them, though I'm not quite sure why you'd want to.

When you make your way to the right, you'll clear this area.

Land of Bull Ikustega

The Ikustega here, however, don't care. They'll try to jump on you Mario-style, but that's all they can really do.

Land of Amphibians

There are more Bull Ikustega here. The first one you see will tell you to get out of this land, as it is run by the elder who takes care of the plants in this area. Could this "elder" be behind the lack of plants...?

You'll also meet a new enemy here: a mini Triceratops. These guys will try to whack you with their horns. They're not any more powerful than the Bull Ikustega, though.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 2 of 14

We do some exploration, then power up some more for the next part of this era.

I start off with 3,220 EVO Points after going experience farming for 20 minutes. At this point, I get the strongest possible jaws, the Shell Body, a larger body size and the best tail for increased attack, defense and hit points.

Ocean of Terodus

The yellow fish run away from you. If you've evolved and become fast enough to go after one of them, you can attack them and get some more health and EP.

Move around as you wait for the volcano to erupt. When it does, the wall of bubbles blocking your path will disappear and you'll be able to continue. Just watch out for those rocks. They hurt if your defense isn't high enough.

Cave of Zinichtys

You'll see see urchins on the ocean floor. Just like everything else you've seen on the ground so far, these things will heal you when eaten.

When you enter this cave, you'll not only be in a short maze, you'll also take on some real competition. The fish here are menacing and look like they're armor plated. If you haven't evolved much yet (especially to increase your attack power and HP), this is your excuse to do so. The grey fish give you 50 EP when defeated.

Watch out for the trilobites. They may seem unassumingly weak, but their attack - launching themselves up and down for a few seconds around the area - can pack a punch!

Anyway, somewhere in the cave is a blue crystal. Eating it will give you 500 EP. This is a nice bonus.

When you're fighting the armored fish, get away so you don't take more than one hit. You don't have a period of invincibility after you get hit, like in some games. This is also true of just about any enemy in the game, so keep that in mind.

The part with the volcanic activity is where you need to go. Once you're there, avoid the rocks that emerge from the eruptions and keep heading right. You're out of there.

I spend the rest of the video going back to one of the previous caves to show off what grinding for experience is like. I don't do this again for the rest of the Let's Play.

PrinceWatercress plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 1 of 14

Well, time to play this one myself. I covered this via somebody else's guide a couple of years back; there's a lot more to it now that I've replayed it for the channel.

Anyway, this is a Super Nintendo game released by Enix in 1993. The gameplay and storyline is pretty good, even if it does seem a bit out there. There's not much in the way of music, though. Yeah, I'm covering a completely underrated game again. But it's actually worth beating, since the developers put at least a good amount of effort into the entire game.

Chapter 1: The World Before Land

500 ~ 450 Million B.C.

After you meet Gaia and you basically see the beginning of the storyline, you start the game...as a tiny, unimpressive fish.

...

Don't run away, guys. It gets better. I promise.

Okay? Okay.

Ocean of Origin

After the first jellyfish tells you about evolution and whatnot, you can basically attack the little jerk, then eat the meat he leaves behind. The meat not only heals you, but it also gives you Evo Points, which basically let you evolve your character, adding and changing to your abilities.

The jellyfish here are pretty weak, thankfully. If you still need some HP, though, the plankton can be eaten, though it won't give you any EP. Just don't run into the jellyfish or give them the chance to sting you. To attack, press Y. To move, use the Control Pad. X will allow you to eat things.

When you make it all the way to the right (which doesn't take long at all), you'll be in the next area. Whenever you're in the world map, you can switch to other areas that you've already completed, which are indicated by the red dot. The green dot is an area you haven't cleared yet. From here, you can use the Control Pad to move between areas and press B to select where you want to go.

Cave of Guidance

If you see any flashing meat upon defeating an enemy, eat it. Flashing meat gives more experience along with a bigger health replenishment.

When you enter the cave, you'll take on a few eels. They take a little more damage than the jellyfish and they can be annoying when they walk right into you, but they can't do much besides move around and swing their tails.

You should have at least 200 EP by the time you enter the cave from leveling up. Some of the new evolutionary options, such as a bigger dorsal fin (which allows you to move faster) and bigger jaws (for a more powerful attack) cost this much, but some others cost even more, especially when you're trying to become even more powerful.

When you approach the sea cucumbers near the end (which you can eat), you'll hear them saying that Gaia has a plan for the fish to create a new world, and that you won't be able to go back after you reach the third volcano in the sea.

If you eat the brown crystal at the end, you'll get a message about how the brown crystals work. You'll also get the basics on evolution:

Evolving your teeth increases your attack power.

Evolving your body increases your defensive power.

Evolving your horn will increase your attack power. (Be careful, as your horn can break after a few uses.)

Evolving your hands, feet, and dorsal fin as well as your tail will increase your agility, HP level and strength.

Evolving one part of your body may decrease the ability of another. (Don't be surprised if you find yourself experimenting in order to build the perfect beast.)

To evolve things, press Select, then select "Evolution." From here, you can use the Control Pad to highlight options, B to confirm and Y to back out. The "Capability" option lets you see your current stats, and Record of Evolution lets you save your game.

Since you're done here, head out of the cave and leave the same way you came in. You're done here.

Cave of Temptation

Oh, boy. You might want to level up your attack power in the first two areas before going in here, since the tiny sea creatures in the cave that split into two when you attack them have quite a few HP for this stage in the game. They're not hard, they just require a slightly higher attack power than what you've started the game with.

Thankfully, the two tiny things (I guess they're tiny green manta rays, but I can't really tell what they are) give you 20 EP apiece when you eat the meat they leave behind.

The coral here heal you when eaten. One of them will tell you about the red crystal.

There's a red crystal here that you can eat to transform into something completely different. Eating the one here will turn you into a manta ray with 80 HP. It is possible to become a gray manta ray with 100 HP. This is temporary, though, so enjoy it while you can.

Sryth plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 17 of 17

Enjoy the ending.

If used unwisely, a harder trail than what you have went through will occur.

Y'know, thinking about real life, I'm wondering...have we created a harder trial already? Drop me a line, somebody.

Your character is welcomed into the Sun Family and enters the Time Trans to Eden, which we never even get a glimpse of. Then the credits roll.

Syrth plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 16 of 17

Not only have I pasted the finale strategies from last entry, I've added to them. Enjoy.

All maps by Tropicon.

Whack him, then immediately walk away without jumping.

The green sphere is a green ancient fish that swims around in the air. I don't even. Standing between his head and tail will not hurt you.

Syrth plays EVO: The Search For Eden - Part 15 of 17

After all this trekking, it's time to take on the final boss...

All maps by Tropicon.

Entrance of Eden

You'll meet up with Cro-Maine, another caveman who used to be part of the Monkey Trible only to be kicked out for evolving. The one who lives to the North treats him well, and let's him guard the cave to Eden.

To beat him, walk under him when he jumps, then hit him. This will cancel out his club swing, which will take you out of the area and force you to start over if he knocks you into the left side of the cave entrance. From there, walk under him, turn around, and hit him again. If you're a human, this is easy.

Beating him will net you 5000 EP for the upcoming battle.

We've made it! We complete the last of the final chapter and find out who lives up North.

All maps by Tropicon.

Final Ocean

When you head here, Gaia will tell you that the crystal have turned the Rogons into violent creatures, and that they are attacking the whales.

Also, the little Loch Ness monsters give you 100 EP, in case you're still needing to evolve.

The Rogons are basically Fish Men. They'll ride on small sharks and shoot darts at you. Weird. They also give you 100 EP each.

Now that you're out of the water, you can transform into a human. There's a trick to doing it. You'll need Cat Like Jaws and a Ramothecus Body.

Domain of Tyrosaurus
