5-9: Ending

Just a quick reminder: the more gold gems you have, the more of the ending you see. As you go through the ending, the number of gold gems in the upper-left corner counts down. If you have less than 52 and an A rank, you won't see the entire ending sequence.

Marina and Professor Theo return to Nepton Village, and King Aster shows up along with them. We find out that Celes was Princess Ondine the whole time as King Aster thanks Teran for protecting her. Ondine and King Aster reunite, and a coronation ceremony is held in the village.

At the coronation ceremony, Teran heads away from the festivities, but Ondine catches up with him. Teran tells Celes that he is not her true brother and that he is Blockman, a Clancer from another world who was hired by King Aster as a bodyguard to protect her. He runs away, but runs into Marina and fights her. He is met by Sarie, who beats him up a little bit as she tells him to stay with Ondine, as she will still need him in the future. Teran then gets knocked by Sarie into Celes, who asks him to stay at her side.

Meanwhile, Professor Theo and Marina Liteyears leave Planet Clancer behind in their flying house, then the credits roll. After that, you'll get a surprise ending where Geold, now on a cloud and carrying a magic wand, changes Lunar, Tarus and Merco back into their human forms.

The surprise ending isn't over yet: Geold then meets Marina and Professor Theo, and gives Marina a human form. Geold casts the wrong spell at first, then changes her into a human. Depending on what your age is, you'll either get a younger Marina (if your age on your save file is 15 or below) or an older Marina (if your save file's age is 16 or older).

There is a way to change the ending slightly, but you must have all the gold gems as well as an A average among all of your best stage times to do it. Before Teran attacks you, a target will appear around him. If you grab him at the right time with the B button, you can grab Teran, and Marina will tell Teran to forget about the past and that Ondine will still need here, not Sarie. If you do this, Marina will talk to Sarie, who will give Marina the gold gem as she leaves.

With the 53rd gold gem, you'll get one last scene for the ending: Professor Theo going full pervert.

It's the credits. That's it. That's all. The end. You just beat Mischief Makers! Congratulations!
