crabbyRhys plays Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon - Part 1 of 4

Oh, good lord. We've got ourselves one of them there edutainment games for the Super Nintendo again, and this one's about how smoking cigarettes is bad for you and all that shit! Oh, boy!

Jake Westboro thought he had it all. A successful sales career with Blackburn Tobacco Company, a beautiful wife, a great car. Jake started smoking when he was 15, but now he's DYING from smoking the cigarettes he once sold. Jake's only hope is Dr. Rex Ronan, a brilliant experimental surgeon. Dr. Ronan will shrink himself to near-microscopic size, and enter Jake's body to fight Jake's diseases.

Blackburn Tobacco Company is afraid that if Jake lives, he will tell the world how dangerous smoking is. The will do anything to stop Dr. Ronan. Time is running out, Dr. Ronan must hurry...

DEADLY MICROBOTS FROM BLACKBURN TOBACCO COMPANY HAVE ENTERED JAKE'S BODY. USE CAUTION!

First off, Jake looks hella young, so I'm gonna say he's at least 40 years old...35 if he's (un)lucky. Second, can we has human-shrinking-for-fighting-diseases techonology, so that way cancer can die? Because fuck cancer, that's why. Third, does Blackburn Tobacco Company has the same technology that allows Ronan to shrink himself? And if so, how?

The Mouth

Tar deposits cover the teeth. A thick white path of leukoplakia lines the throat. Jake's teeth are stained and decayed - gums are puffy. Remove tar and luekoplakia deposits as quickly as possible.

Thanks to this random pastebin that I found, I know the controls! Yippee! Hurray! The Control Pad lets you move around. The Y button lets you perform a slow, spinning  kick, while the X button lets you perform a faster flying kick. The A button lets you fire your weapons if you hold it down, and while you do that, you can aim with the Control Pad. This will allow you to get rid of the stains on the teeth as well as destroy the microbots.

At the top center of the screen is the amount of time you have left in the stage (indicated by the bar at the very top), the amount of lives you have and your current score. The gauge below the time and to the left of the numbers if your health, and if you run out, you're losing a life. To the right of all that is the map, and to the left of all that is a picture of Rex Ronan, who reacts as he gets hit (and loses a life).

The smart bombs not only get rid of enemies, but they also act as true/false statements about smoking, such as "Each cigarette you smoke can cut 20 minutes off your life." That statement is true, and if you touch the smart bomb while a true statement is shown on the screen, all on-screen enemies will be destroyed. If the statement is false, it hurts you instead.

Different colored pills give your different power-ups. The purple one switches you between the blaster and the flamethrower, the yellow one powers up your weapon, the red one gives you more time, the green one gives you an extra life and the blue one restores your health.

The white, foggy stuff is leukoplakia. Just like the tar stains on the teeth, you want to get rid of much of this stuff as possible.

The microbots here are pretty easy. They move very slowly, and unless they run directly into you, they're not going to be that much of a threat...that is, until you run into the one that flies around and fires at you. In that case, you'll want to keep your distance as you fire away. Thankfully, its bullets can only go so far. When possible, get under it and keep firing. You'll be able to see its bullets coming.

There is a robot that fires a laser through a cannon on its head. You can either jump over it and get in the spaceship for the next level, or you can duck down in front of it and keep hitting it until it dies.

The Trachea

The trachea is lined with thick mucus. Green globs of phlegm clog the passageway. Phlegm must be cleared quickly.

This time around, instead of a side-scrolling stage, you'll be in a Mode 7 stage where you fly down Jake's trachea. The Control Pad moves you around while A, B, X and Y all fire the guns. Shoot down any phlegm globs if necessary and fly through the big holes in the phlegm walls. The first two walls are stationary, but soon, they will be rotating and you will have to anticipate where the hole is going to be.

If you see a fork in the road, you've just reached the lungs. It doesn't matter which direction you take, just pick one. The map will let you know when you're getting close to the lungs anyway, and they're both going to get cleared out from out efforts, so it's not like it's going to matter. Whichever way you pick, the phlegm shooting (and dodging) continues until the end.

True statements:
Each cigarette you smoke can cut 20 minutes off your life.
Smoking can leads to early wrinkles.
Snuff and chewing tobacco can cause cancer of the mouth.
When you smoke, pesticides and herbicides enter your body.
Like car exhaust, cigarette smoke has carbon monoxide in it.
