PrinceWatercress plays Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest - Part 15 of 28

Three down, one to go.

There are a lot of Cure and Heal Potions here, so stock up when you see the brown chests.

For some reason, the part where you meet the boss here reminds me of StarTropics...except you can't die on the way to meeting him.

The boss here is the Dualhead Hydra.

Dualhead Hydra

Strangely enough, the boss isn't weak against Water, so pound him with White and Reuben's Morning Star. The Dualhead Hydra's Para-breath can Paralyze, the Poisonbreath Poisons you, and the Stone Gas will Petrify you. Hope you've got a lot of Heal Potions!

As the battle wears on, the Hydra will lose one of its heads, then it loses the second neck entirely. C'mon, I wanna fight a headless boss!

When you defeat it, you'll free the Fire Crystal. Reuben will mention someone from Windia mentioning a Crystal...then lava will flow out of the volcano, giving you access to another battlefield.

Open the chest nearby to get the Sun Coin, then get out of there by taking the stairs to the right.

Lava Dome Battlefield

This one is a bit difficult for the game's standards. You'll usually get hit first, and also Paralyzed and Petrified often. You'll be fighting either Iflytes or Sthenos, often two at a time, so rest often if you need to.

Clearing this battlefield gives you 1068 EXP.

Focus Tower

You're done with the Fire Crystal region, so it's time to go back into the Focus Tower.

Open the purple door with the Sun Coin, and you'll meet the old man on the cloud yet again. He'll tell you to be on the lookout for Captain Mac's ship before he speeds off yet again.

Doom Castle - 2B

Head down the stairs first. Head down to the other side and you'll find yourself in a blocked off section of a place known as the Doom Castle. Yes, there's a castle of doom underneath the Focus Tower. You'll find there's a chest, but you'll have to fight monsters to get it. You'll fight a Minotar Zombie, an Iflyte...and a Shadow. Finish the Shadow off with first, using either Thunder or Water (they're also weak against Wind, but you don't have a Wind spell yet). They can not only multiply themselves like the Ghosts, they can also cast Doom Dance, which insta-kills if it connects.

You won't see the Shadow again for quite a while, so when we meet it again in a main area, I'll treat it as a new enemy again.

You may also fight the Chimera, which you won't see until Pazuzu's tower. The Chimera is weak to Wind, but it can counter with Poison Touch to Poison you if you don't kill it off immediately. This will also be treated as a new enemy later on.

After this fight, you'll be able to open the chest and get Aero for Benjamin. Finally a wind elemental spell! Now you have all the Black spells in the game!

Head back upstairs and leave. You're done here.
