PrinceWatercress plays Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - Part 2 of 9

Our adventures in the Tree Zone continue!

All maps by RyuMaster.

Hive Level

Well, you'll be going through pipes while you explore a hornet nest.

The regular bees die after one hit, but the bees with the skull heads can revive themselves unless you destroy them with a spin jump. Watch for eyes appearing in the dark honeycombs in the walls so you can see them coming.

The big fat bees act like Thwomps. Come close, and they'll try to squash you from above.

Unlike the regular worms, the spiked worms cannot be defeated regularly.

The set of three pipes sends you to a trove of coin blocks. The left side has the spiked caterpillars while the right side has the regular ones. The right side also has a Starman in the upper-right most block.

The eggs coming out of the plants can be killed outright with a jump.

Ant Level

The ants are just like Goombas, while the stag beetles fly straight up for a second whenever they reach the edge of a platform.

The ants that don't have antennae shoot spikes out of their bodies whenever they stop. When the spikes are out, you'll take damage even if you jump on them normally. Fireballs are the best way to go with these guys.

You have two kinds of Piranha Plants in this game: the normal ones that move up and down while gnashing their teeth and the spiky ones that spit fireballs out like in Super Mario Bros. 3.

The flies just fly away from you when you approach them, and you won't be able to defeat them by normal means. It is possible to kill them by touching them if you've just picked up a Starman, though.

The carrot turns you into Bunny Mario. When you're in the air, press A rapidly to slowly float downwards. With a running jump, you can get some impressive distance with the floating. Just remember that you cannot spin jump as Bunny Mario.

Boss Level

Before you can fight the boss, you'll have to make your way from Point A to Point B (which is usually a pipe to someplace).

Jump on the owls' heads to go places. Jump on them once to wake them up, and stay on them to use them as a platform. They have some pretty flat heads, to be honest.

To beat the bird boss, wait for it to dive towards you, then jump on its head. Three hits and it's history! You can also kill this boss (and the others) with fireballs if you are Fire Mario, so don't be afraid to use them if you have them. You can also do what I did and cheese it with Bunny Mario if you can tap the jump button fast enough after a running jump after the bird boss has dived down.

Whenever you beat a boss, you'll get a coin. Get all six coins to open up Wario's castle for the final battle! If you lose all your lives before then, you'll lose all the coins you've collected and you'll have to collect them all again when you go back to your game.
