Here we are...the final battle! After this, we rescue the princess and go home!
Stage 7
It's you and the final boss! The screen will scroll endlessly to the right as the boss moves up and down and shoots fireballs that home in on you. Stay close (but not too close) and hit him with as many projectiles as you can, and watch for platforms to jump onto as well as for the fireballs when he fires them. You can destroy the fireballs with your attack, but the longer you have at least one fireball on-screen, that is less time the boss is spending shooting fireballs at you, allowing you to attack him as you keep moving. If you land in the spikes, get back on a platform immediately so you don't lose a lot of health. Thankfully, small hearts will show up throughout the battle to refill a little bit of your health. If you can somehow hit the boss here with your staff rather than just the projectile, you can do more damage when you hit him.
When you beat the boss, he will fly away. You'll then take on the second phase of the boss. You will have to use the bullets that fire from the right side of the screen as platforms to avoid falling into the spikes, and they will come out at three elevations. You'll have to keep jumping on the bullets to stay out of the spike pits while shooting the boss as he is at the controls of the flying machine. This can be a bit difficult, but this guy is definitely beatable as long as you take short hops and don't stay too far to the left side of the screen. Once you deplete his health meter a second time, you'll rescue the princess! You've won!
