Head back up the mountain path and get back in the house. From there, get close to the cat and stay close. Keep inputting the command 'get cat' until you finally pick it up. Take some of the cat's hair, then the cat will escape your grasp. Head back to the study and move the book and pull the lever to go back to the basement, then walk up to the spell book and do the following steps:
1. Type in 'turn to page ii'.
2. Type in 'put small feather in bowl'.
3. Type in 'put dog fur in bowl'.
4. Type in 'put reptile skin in bowl'. (You can also type in 'snake skin'.)
5. Type in 'add spoonful of powdered fish bone'.
6. Type in 'put dew in bowl'.
7. Type in 'mix with hands'.
8. Type in 'separate mixture into two pieces'.
9. Type in 'put dough pieces in ears'.
10. Type the following things in the incantation:
Feather of fowl and bone of fish
Molded together in this dish
Give me wisdom to understand
Creatures of air, sea and land
11. Type in 'wave magic wand'.
You are now able to understand what creatures are saying as long as the dough is in your ears.
Here are the following steps for the spell for causing a deep sleep:
1. Type in 'turn to page xiv'.
2. Type in 'grind acorns in mortar'.
3. Type in 'put acorn powder in bowl'.
4. Type in 'put nightshade juice in bowl'.
5. Type in 'stir mixture with spoon'.
6. Type in 'light charcoal brazier'.
7. Type in 'heat mixture on brazier'.
8. Type in 'spread mixture on table'.
9. Type the following things in the incantation:
Acorn powder, ground so fine
Nightshade juice, like bitter wine
Silently in darkness you creep
To bring a soporific sleep
10. Type in 'wave magic wand.'
11. Type in 'put sleeping powder in pouch'.
You are now able to put someone into a deep sleep.
If you mess this up, you'll put yourself to sleep instead.
