We're cutting it close, so let's head back to Manannan's house and get all our stuff squared away before we get killed.

If you enter the desert, there's a good chance you'll meet Medusa. You're screwed if she shows up, as you instantly turn to stone when she shows up. Thanks, game.
However, you do have the hand mirror...and to avoid being turned to stone, you can turn away from her. This gives you a chance to fight back in some way. Show the hand mirror to Medusa when she gets close enough, and you'll finally do away with her. That was easy.
Now that that's taken care of, one of the desert screens will have an unusually small cactus next to a large rock. Go up to it and take the cactus.
We're nearing returning time for Manannan, so let's head back to the house. Use the map to teleport back to the house, head back up the mountain path, and head to your bed. Here, type 'put items under bed'. This will put all of the verboten stuff under the bed and out of Manannan's sight. Don't forget to put the wand back in the cabinet in Manannan's study before he comes back.
When Manannan comes back, give him something to eat. You have the three food items in your inventory, but don't give him the porridge. You'll need that for one of the spells. At this point, you may have to do another chore. Go ahead and do it.
Dilandau3000 shows off some of the other chores. If you're in the study, type 'get duster' to dust the desk. You can also type in 'feed chickens' near the feed back outside of the house near the chicken coop to feed the chickens. You can also empty the chamber pot in Manannan's bedroom, and the way of doing that is perfectly self-explanatory.
After a while (usually at X:35:00), Manannan goes to sleep. Time to slip out and get some stuff done.
