Finally, Manannan is out of it! We can do stuff again!

Well, since Manannan's asleep, we're free to do almost whatever we want. Head back to the bed and get all your stuff, then head out the door and head to the desert. Keep exploring the screens north and south of where you fought Medusa and you'll eventually find a dried snake skin on the ground. Get it, as it's needed for one of the spells.
East of the screen south of the mountain path is the tavern and dock. There is also a store here, and we'll have to go in here to get some of the stuff, as they're spell ingredients. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get any of them right now, so keep this place in mind for later. Be sure to pet the dog to get some dog hair, as you'll be needing that too.
Head out of the store and enter the tavern. You'll find out that the two men at the table drinking ale are the rogues from the forest that rob people near the desert. If you open the door and turn into a fly, you'll be able to spy on them and find out where their hideout is: in the big oak tree. (Make sure they're there when you try this, since you don't want to waste one of the uses of that essence spell.)
Leave the tavern, and turn back into a human with the command 'fly begone myself return'. Head two screens to the west. Turn into a fly again to enter the hole in the oak tree to find a rope leading upward. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do much here at all, so turn back into a human. Reach into the hole in the oak tree to pull the rope and cause a rope ladder to come down. Climb up the rope ladder just by walking into it and keep going to find the rogues' hideout. Be careful not to fall once you make it all the way up there, as you can and will die.
