Here's another review of the game, this time from kNIGHTWING01.
Part nostalgia-bomb, part note-taking and part FAQ, what started in GameTrailers as a video game blog is now on Blogger. This blog is a look back at video games, both popular and obscure, from the video game industry's infancy all the way to the previous console generation.

Knightwing and Kwife play Teenage Mutant Turtles IV: Turtles In Time - Part 2 of 2
And here we are with the second half of the game!
A.D. 1530
Skull and Crossbones
The bumps in the floor are loose planks that will smack you in the face if you step on them.
The sea green soldiers shoot arrows at you, then flee.
At one point, there will be another pirate ship in the background. Pay attention to which cannon fires as you fight. If the left cannon fires, stay away from the left side of the screen. If it's the right cannon, stay away from the right.
The yellow soldiers at the end throw spiked chakrams at you. Approach them diagonally.
The bosses here are Bebop and Rocksteady. Unlike previous games, you'll have to fight them both at the same time. Bebop carries a whip while Rocksteady wields a rapier. Criss-cross these guys with jump kicks, and don't move straight ahead towards Rocksteady as his lunging sword attack will knock you waaaay back.
A.D. 1885
Bury My Shell At Wounded Knee
Don't worry about falling between cars, you can freely walk over the spaces between them.
Some of the orange soldiers carry whips with metal hooks to slice you with, so jump kick them if you can.
The rock soldiers here carry metal girders as if they're lead pipes. Do not let these guys whack you.
Jump over the barrels that fall from the sky and roll towards you.
If you strike the box of fireworks, it will explode after a few seconds. The explosion will take out any nearby enemies.
One of the rock soldiers near the fireworks box has a rocket launcher. Take him out before he can use it.
The boss here is Leatherhead. Whack him a few times, then jump out of the way when he starts crawling in place so he doesn't ram you. If he goes to one side and starts throwing knives, avoid the knives and wait for him to stop throwing them before continuing your attack. He also has a quick jab whic is nearly impossible to see, much less dodge.
A.D. 2020
Neon Night Riders
Unlike the arcade original, this stage takes advantage of Mode 7. Also, the arcade original had much stronger music.
Also, this is the most futurized version of the 2020s that the 1990s ever produced. Watch it not become reality, guys.
You won't fall into the pits, so don't even worry.
Take out as many Foot Clan soldiers and Mousers as you can, and try to collect as many yellow spheres with the blue question marks as possible for more points.
The boss is Krang in his robot body. When he extends one of his legs, he will attack with a rocket-propelled kick, so you'll want to be out of his way for that. If he goes to one side of the screen, he will either fire missiles or mortar bombs. The missiles are easy to avoid, but you'll have the watch the shadows of the mortar bombs to see where they'll land.
A.D. 2100
Starbase - Where No Turtle Has Gone Before
Aside from the Foot Clan soldiers you've seen in just about every stage, you'll also be dealing with a variety of robots. The ones at the beginning shoot lasers and are easy to destroy, while the others quickly crawl around the floor. When their heads are yellow, you'll want to get out of the way as the yellow crescents they fire at you shock you for a few seconds.
When you reach the section of the stage where there are hexagons on the floor, stay away from the lighter ones. When those rise up, they will freeze you much like Tokka's ice ray if you're above them.
The rock soldiers with the missile launchers shoot a missile that sends out a line of flames that travels a short distance along the ground before they run away. Other rock soldiers have guns they can use to fire at the floor with, and others still have stun guns that can hit you from a short distance.
The boss here is Krang, and this time he's in his UFO now that you've destroyed his robot body. Criss-cross Krang with jump kicks, and stay away from the sides if you see yellow waves come out of them. This is an indication that he will fire bubbles from the sides that will both damage you and leave you immobile for a few seconds.
Sometimes Krang's UFO will spawn those robots that move across the ground. When that happens, Krang disappears and you'll have to take out all the robots before he appears again.
After taking enough damage, Krang will stop moving and try to crush you with the bottom of his UFO every few seconds. You'll want to stop attacking him when he does this, as there is a good sporting chance he'll hit you out of a jump kick. Wait for him to hit the floor, and jump kick him when he comes back up.
A.D. 1992
Technodrome - The Final Shell Shock
Shredder instantly transforms into his Super Shredder form right off the bat. From there, he'll teleport around the room and attack you in-between teleportations.
When Super Shredder flashes a purple flame, jump out of the way immediately as he will send out a line on flames towards you.
When he flashes a green flame, he simply shoots out a green projectile that is easy to dodge. If you get hit by it, you'll be a regular turtle for a few seconds and you won't be able to move.
If it's a blue flame, he'll perform an anti-air attack that will knock you away in case you're jumping towards him at the time.
The flame that emanates from his body will all hurt you if you're near him at the time.
Knightwing and Kwife play Teenage Mutant Turtles IV: Turtles In Time - Part 1 of 2
It's time to kick some shell once again as we upgrade to 16-bit!
The game was released with the word "Ninja" replaced with "Hero" in the title in typical over-reactive fashion in Europe. Meanwhile in Japan, the game was released without the Roman numeral "IV," as the third game was the second game, the second game was the first game, and the first game had a completely different title.
Shredder's forces have stolen the Statue of Liberty! The Turtles are the only ones who can get it back!
Scene 1
Big Apple, 3 AM
The controls are improved upon the second and third games. You can now dash and perform dash attacks, and you can also perform a special attack with the A button. It does use your energy if it connects, just so you know.
The purple and Salmon Foot Clan soldiers are your typical enemy fare. As long as you don't let them get too close, you should be good. Some of the blue ones will carry a wide variety of weapons, like swords, sai and axes. The white ones will carry nunchaku, which have some range to them.
The wrecking ball will do a lot of damage if it flattens you.
The blue box with the word "Pizza" on it is a full box of pizza that refills your health.
One of your most useful attacks will be the throw. When you perform it, you'll slam a Foot Clan soldier to and fro, and if any other enemies get in the way, they'll be whacked as well. To do it, get up close to a Foot Clan soldier and press Back+Y.
You can also throw the enemy into the screen as well. To do that, get up close and press Forward+Y.
The supersized Krang will shoot lasers out of his eyes. You don't want to be in front of him when he stops moving, as this is when he fires them.
The first boss is Baxter Stockman, who is in his mutant fly form in this game. Jump into the air and hit him as you avoid both his gunfire and the giant hand that comes out of gun. Press Y at the top of your jump for best results as well as at least one extra hit every time you try to attack him. He'll occasionally move across the ground, and you'll want to wail on him when this happens as he does absolutely nothing. It won't take long to finish off Baxter.
Scene 2
Alley Cat Blues
If you attack the fire hydrant near the beginning, one of the pipe covers will shoot out and fly to the right, attacking any Foot Soldiers in its path.
The orange Foot Clan soldiers can jump up and throw shurikens. The shurikens explode when they hit the ground.
When you reach the pizza box, you'll see four Roadkill Rodneys. Whack them a couple of times, but be ready to jump over the whip-like wires that come out of them and shock you, as well as the lasers they shoot out.
The maroon pizza box with the bomb on it is a spin attack that last for a few seconds. If you run into any enemies while you are spinning, you will instantly take them out.
Once again, the open manholes will cause damage if you fall into them.
The boss here is the robotic turtle Metalhead. Whack him a few times, and jump over the lasers he shoots when he runs to the right side of the screen. Avoid him as he jumps back to the left, then whack away at him. As long as use the range of your character's weapon to your advantage, his extending punch shouldn't even be an issue.
Scene 3
Sewer Surfin'
This is a bonus stage than anything else where you're careening down the sewers on a surfboard. Hit as many Foot Soldiers as you can and collect all the yellow pizza boxes with the blue question marks on them. Avoid the spikes that come down from the ceiling by moving to the right, as they fall shortly after they pass the center of the screen. Avoid the red spiked balls in the water by jumping over them. After the spikes are gone, hit as many pizza monsters as you can.
You'll then face Rat King. Attack the front of the ship, which shows the arrow featuring the words "Break Point" above it. Carefully position yourself between the missiles so you can get some shots in. When he moves backward, you should, too: Rat King's boat will shoot out red balls that grow spikes as soon as they land in the water.
Scene 4
Technodrome - Let's Kick Shell!
Don't worry, there's more to this, but at least the Technodrome shows up in this game much like it has in all the other ones so far.
You'll get a free life at 200 points.
The Mousers come back with a vengeance by leaping off a conveyor belt and through a window to take a bite out of you. Whack away at them and do not let them get close by any means.
The pink soldiers can throw shurikens at you from a distance and can also block your attacks.
After seeing the TV screens with Shredder on them, you'll meet Tokka and Rahzar. Tokka is a mutated turtle, while Rahzar is a mutated dog. They both fight the same way: they can punch at you and they can dash a limited distance forward. Tokka can also fire an ice beam at you that will freeze you in place.
Do not move into the force field blocking the door, intentionally or otherwise, as you will get fried.
Once you beat Tokka and Rahzar, you'll fight some more enemies on an elevator. There is a pizza on the elevator if you need it, and you probably will, as you'll meet Shredder at the end!
To beat Shredder, you'll have to throw the Foot Soldiers by getting really close to a Foot Soldier and pressing Forward+Y. This will send the soldier into the screen and right into Shredder. As you toss those Foot Soldiers around, avoid the claws that will be at either side of Shredder, and don't let that white target home move toward you and turn red, as this triggers the guns to fire at you.
After you throw enough Foot Clan soldiers into Shredder, Shredder will leap out of his machine and throw you into a timewarp!
[title]B.C. 2,500,000,000
Prehistoric Turtlesauras
Watch out for the eggs that the pterodactyls drop, as they're bombs. Jump over the velociraptor that runs to the other side of the screen so you don't get flattened.
The Stone Warriors cannot be tossed into the background with Forward+Y. They can also hit you with a shoulder tackle if you let them.
The yellow Soldiers will walk in, throw bombs at you, then leave the screen.
The boss here is the evil Ninja Turtle, Slash. Stay on the move and avoid his attacks. When he leaps to one side of the screen, that's your cue to hit him with all you've got. Stay near him as he jumps from one side to the other, and keep hitting him. If you need to, use jump kicks to keep up.

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 9 of 9
We finally take on King Dedede! Are you ready?
Level 7
Rainbow Resort
(continued)
Level 7-5
Stay away from the bomb guys in the first section. You'll fight a giant Wheelie next. You won't have much room to fly around in, so be careful.
The next room is kinda weird. Watch where the shooting stars in the background are point. If they're going down, the gravity in the black sections will drag you down. If they're going up, you'll be lifted into the air. Fly through these sections and you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
There's a cannon in the next section, but the speed that the light hits the cannon is fast. You'll have to get the Fireball ability not only to light the cannon, but to make your way over there as quickly as possible. Making it over there gives you a 1-Up. The goal is at the end of this section.
Level 7-6
Well, this level is interesting. The whole level (and the HUD at the bottom) is in black and white the entire time, and the music from Green Greens plays (albeit at a lower semitone). The Kirby's Dream Land title screen music is in the game, too, but it's unused. Strange...
The first two sections are Green Greens. These sections are pretty easy.
The third section is the entrance to Castle Lololo, and that just consists entirely of avoiding a bunch of enemies and entering a door (then again, all the sections are). The fourth one has some cannons to avoid, as well as a Maxim Tomato and a 1-Up at the end.
The fifth section is the beginning of Float Islands, while the sixth is another interior section that is obviously based on that world's infamous second section with the black background and the spikes. Why there's another Maxim Tomato at the end of the sixth section, I don't know. But it's there if you need one.
The seventh section is the beginning of Bubbly Clouds...and it really looks a lot like the first section of that long-remembered area. The eighth and final section is the only vertical section in the level, and it is where you'll find the switch. Go up to the crescent moon at the top of this part and press Up. You'll enter a hidden door which leads to the switch. Congratulations. The Warp Star Station is yours.

Level 7 Boss
It's Dedede! He broke the Star Rod into multiple pieces and kept all the inhabitants of Dream Land from being able to dream!
He still has the slide, inhale, hammer and jump attacks from the original Kirby's Dream Land, but he's got a new attack as well: the ability to swallow a bunch of air, fly around and follow you, then spit the air out...just like Kirby. It's annoying as crap.
Level 8
The Fountain of Dreams
Level 8 Boss
When you beat him, you'll get the Star Rod, but Dedede will try to stop you taking it. You'll soon find out why...a deadly nightmare will come out of the Fountain of Dreams. Dedede will launch you...and the Star Rod...into the air in order to destroy this once-sealed dark power!
When you're fighting this thing, avoid its blasts (and its ram attack) and mash the B button the entire time. Speed is crucial here, as you want to finish this thing off before you get swallowed by the ground and that dark orb flies away!
When he fires one star at a time or two stars at once, just stay away from them. When he shoots out four stars at a time, be ready to move out of the way as all four of them will home in on you. It will also try to fire five energy waves. Stay in the center of the screen for the first four, then move above or below the last. It'll also try to ram you - which is evident when it shakes violently before coming straight at you. Move away, then close and fire some stars at it for the brief time it returns to the right side of the screen, since it won't attack you on its way back.
The final boss is the Nightmare, and - oh boy - is the music here awesome or what?
His weak point is his body, which is inside his cape...but it has to be exposed in order to be hit.
He has a lot of attacks. One of the first he'll usually send at you are five stars - two to the sides, two at a more narrow angle, and another one straight down.
Another one is moving around before dropping down towards you and firing some stars at you. If you're quick enough, you can hit him before he shoots that first star.
His body will turn into a tornado and he'll dive towards you. You can jump and damage his body with the somersault that comes with the Star Rod ability, but shooting a star into it causes more damage. If you can't get a clear shot on him, at least use the somersault. You'll do a fraction of a point of damage, but every little bit helps. Stay in the fight!
Another one of his attacks has him moving around, but this time he'll stay in the air and fire stars at you from above. Move away from his line of fire and he'll miss you. He guards his underside with his cape, so you won't be able to hit him while he does this.
He teleports around sometimes, especially if you happen to be directly behind him before you can attack.
Every once in a while, his body will turn into a tornado, but instead of coming towards you, he'll rocket into the air and dive upside down close to the ground. If you're quick, you can hit him with a star...but you have to be quick.
Once you finally beat this guy, you did it! You saved Dream Land again! Enjoy your ending!

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 8 of 9
We're in Dedede's domain. Let's tear this sucker up.
Level 7
Rainbow Resort
Level 7-1
You can get the Laser ability at the beginning here and play around with the Laser. Makes for some really interesting trick shots in the first section. You can also get a 1-Up doing this, which is actually pretty cool. One of my favorite 1-Ups to get, personally.
For the second section, you'll have to ditch the Laser ability and get Spark. Once you do, you'll be able to break some blocks and find a hidden path to the switch. When you see the Waddle Doo, get his Beam ability, then keep going right. When you reach the three Waddle Dees, hit the bricks in the roof and make a path that will get Kirby two blocks away from the door. From here, dump Beam, then go back and get the Fireball ability from the enemy underneath the Spark to destroy these last two blocks. The switch here will unlock the Crane Game for Level 7.
The third section has you flying over some cannons situated on top of star blocks. The goal is at the other end.
Level 7-2
For the first time in a zillion stages, you won't have to look for a switch. Yay! But the more interesting news is: we get to take down some mini-bosses on our way up a tower! Double yay!
The first battle is against a Poppy Bros. Sr. You should definitely be used to him by now. Destroy him and get his Crash ability. Use it on the alarm clock mini-boss you face next, then take his Mike ability. Use the first two uses of it to finish off Chilly, and save the last use for Bonkers. The Hammer ability will work really well on the pillbug mini-boss. After that, you'll fight Buggsy again, followed by Flame Mane. Finally, you're done with the mini-boss rush!
Fly up to the Warp Star, and you'll find a swordsman and a Maxim Tomato...as well as the goal!
Level 7-3
The first section has a bunch of sleepy guys and a swordsman. (Yes, I know it's a Blade Knight. I'm just stupid.) Nothing difficult here.
The second section has you flying upwards between platforms. You'll see a few Sir Kibbles here as well as a Maxim Tomato at the top.
Despite being defeated, the Meta Knight appears in the third section and tosses up a lollipop. Fly through this part and run through everything while you're invincible. From there, it's just one more section of running to the right towards the goal.
Level 7-4
The first section has you fighting enemies that are strangely darker shades of their usual colors. Must be graphical limitations. Oh, well.
The second section is a pink room with some more Ball guys. This room so screams late '80s.
It is followed by a similar yellow room full of climbing guys, a blue room full of flying enemies, and a green room with fireball enemies.
The last section is some bomb blocks with enemies above them. Slide through the bomb blocks and avoid the Gordos to make your way to the goal.
Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 7 of 9
We finally finish off Orange Ocean in this video!
Level 6
Orange Ocean
(continued)
Level 6-3
The first section takes place on a dock. Make your way to the ship while dealing with the bad guys. There is a pep brew at the bottom of the ladder if you need it.
When you go into the ship, you'll take on Bonkers again. His Hammer ability will come in handy here. Get it, go up the ladder, and then break the crate in the wall with the Hammer. Go into the water, and head down and left to destroy a bomb block as well as a Sir Kibble that is guarding another Pep Brew. Go back to where the bomb block was, and press Up to enter an invisible door. Hold Down on the Control Pad to get a 1-Up before it falls away, then quickly swim back up and destroy the sword guy. Press Up where he was to find another door. Get the Laser ability (and the Maxim Tomato, if you need it), then go to the door on the left and enter.
You'll see a room with a cannon situated in water. Fire the Laser at the angled corner in the ceiling that's at the right side of the room, then get in the cannon before it fires. Congratulations, you've found the hardest switch to get in the game.
The third section has a few surprises. The doorway in the sail leads to the fourth section, which has you flying and jumping between two large crow's nests. When you make it to the Warp Zone, you'll be at some islands. Fly your way over to the right, take down any bad guys in your way, and you'll be at the goal.
Level 6-4
The second section is a maze. If you keep going right, you'll find a Pep Brew underneath the cannon. From the beginning, take the right path downward. Follow the path, then go right when you dive in the water. Go up and keep going up until you reach the star block covering the gap in the floor near the bomb block. Take the star block out first, then hit the bomb block. The gap will help you stand underneath a passing Gordo. Go up from there and you'll be able to enter the next section.
If you go into the cubby hole in the water below the ladders near the end, you'll find the hidden switch. This uncovers the Egg Catcher game.
Get the Parasol ability when you enter the next room. Once you go through the door, you'll have some protection against the falling coconuts (the parasol destroys them with a mere touch). When you reach the door at the end of this vertical section, you'll just have a short trip to the goal littered with a few birds and a few coconuts.
Level 6-5
The first section has a few snowmen that can give you the Freeze ability. The second section is a huge stair-like cliff. Fly all the way to the last step at the top to find a Maxim Tomato, then go down to find a doorway that's seemingly hidden in the background.
Inside this ice room, destroy the bomb block to flood the room with water. This will take out the three swordsmen at the bottom of this room. From there, head to the door on the other side.
In this fourth section, eat the fire-breathing enemy to get the Fire ability, then hit the bomb blocks. One of them leads to a cannon. Light the fuse underneath where the first bomb block was with Fire, then quickly get to the cannon underneath where the second bomb block was before it fires. You'll reach a switch that uncovers the Quick Draw mini-game.
That's all for this level, since this fourth section is the last.
Level 6-6
Leave the room, then go down and to the left. You'll find a door to a hidden switch behind the ice blocks. Charge up your laser to destroy the ice blocks. Congratulations. You now have access to the Warp Star in Level 6.
Back to the second section. Watch out for other enemies in the section as you make your way to the door...you don't want to lose your U.F.O. power just yet.
You'll fight a mini-boss regardless of which door you pick, but the bottom one has two Chillys, which is a bit easier. Regardless, you'll enter the fourth section regardless of which door you picked. If you still have the U.F.O. power, the fourth section is really easy to get through. Just take down the swordsman at the end.
When you enter the igloo in the next room, you'll take down the Meta Knight's flunkies one last time. Apparently, you're temporarily invincible for a brief second as you put an enemy in your mouth. Interesting. When you take them all out, you're done with this level.
Level 6 Boss
Be sure to avoid touching him as he walks around. If you corner him, he'll rush at you in order to get past you and deal some damage.
Love how it pixelizes and de-pixelizes when you hit him.

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 6 of 9
We finish up Yogurt Yard and begin Orange Ocean in this entry!
Level 5
Yogurt Yard
(continued)
Level 5-4
You'll be taking down star blocks and flying between rows of spikes in the first section. If you carefully use the Fireball ability at the lower fork near the end, you'll come through with a 1-Up. It'll come in handy since you're fighting Meta Knight's little flunkies after the beginning. Again.
Thankfully, fighting them is a little easier, since you'll spend more of your time swallowing just about every single one of them, due to the three platforms you can jump onto and drop down from that litter this room.
After climbing the ladder in the beginning of the third section, you'll meet a green ball-shaped creature jumping around. If you swallow him, you'll get another ability exclusive to Kirby's Adventure: Ball. Though you cannot attack enemies in ball form unless you're flashing (and that happens only for a brief instance), you can bounce really high into the air, and hang time is comparable to high-jump...except it's better. Of course, that's considering that you can press the A button at the right time and can keep doing it for a while. At least you have a slightly better chance of knowing exactly where you're going to land. It won't prove very useful here, since you'll probably be floating over this whole section. Unless...
Unless you notice the lone waterfall flowing out of what looks like a partially hidden doorway. If you go inside it, you'll find out it is indeed a door. The lower door leads to a switch that opens up the Level 5 Arena, while the higher one leads to the last section. It's a long drop to a pool of water...and the goal.
Museum
The Museum in Level 5 lets you choose between Stone and Tornado. Really useful if you need Stone for anything.
Level 5-5
The first section takes place in the trees. If you look around this section, you'll find a cannon. If you can light the fuse and get in, you'll find a switch that opens up the Crane Game for Level 5.
When you make it to the end of this section, you'll find a Warp Star. It'll whisk you away to a castle. Go in and fly over the pillars to meet a new mini-boss: Flame Mane. Whatever you do, do not let him touch you. When he performs an aerial dive, wait for him to hit the ground and cause a star to pop up out of the ground. This is your ammunition. If you swallow him, you'll get the Fireball ability.
When you finish him off, you'll be able to come out of the other side of the castle and into the woods. If you get the Laser ability at the beginning of this final section of the level, you'll be able to take down some of the guys climbing the walls, who will take to following you through the area if you walk past them.
Level 5-6
You'll be dealing with some Wheelies in the first section, so be careful, especially with the little bit of slowdown that will be happening on the screen. You'll find a Maxim Tomato above one of the hills. Swallow one of the Wheelies. You'll need it for the second section.
Since you have the power-up, use the Wheel ability to destroy the bomb block, then use the Wheel ability to move it on down to the other bridge. You'll get a 1-Up to fall down to you for your efforts. From there, float to the door at the end of the section.
In the third section, you'll find a door in a palm tree. If you have the Stone ability, you'll be able to break the blocks in the center of the room in here and access the switch that opens up the Warp Star room for Level 5 (you'll also snag another 1-Up). The door on the right in the room you use the Stone ability in is the door in the switch room, just so you know.
Leave the room and head to the right. You're done with this level.

Level 5 Boss
This boss is awesome. He'll dig through the screen, which slowly moves up and down while scrolling slowly to the right. Don't swallow the little clones he sends out, they give you the Sleep ability and make you rather vulnerable to screen-scrolling related deaths. Just use them as ammunition against this thing. One thing's for sure - you're gonna be on the move when you're against this guy!
Level 6
Orange Ocean
Hope you like orange...because there's a lot of it in this world.
Level 6-1
When you enter the first door you see, you'll fight that bug guy again. And this time, he's in water that you have to swim in. You're better off using an ability like Fireball if you're going to fight him. The only reason to use his Throw ability is to get the 1-Up at the end of this section. If you're not interested, don't go into that door (you can leave that area if you change your mind during the fight). Just go all the way to the right and enter the next section.
You'll see a lot of guys with the Fireball ability in the second section. When you enter the door in the middle of the level, you'll not only get a Maxim Tomato, but also another 1-Up! If you have the Hammer ability here, you'll be able to enter the door below, which lets you hit a switch that reveals the Level 6 Museum.
The third section has a lot of flying enemies. Whether you use the platforms or flying to get from Point A to Point B, be careful. Don't want to be overwhelmed here on your way to the goal.
Level 6-2
The first section is a bunch of platforms in between pools of water underneath a waterfall. This part is pretty pleasant, for the most part. If you want the Pep Brew here, use your slide.
The second section is a maze of sorts. Be careful of the cannons that shoot at you as you make your way around. The door in the middle of this area leads to another door you can access if you have Hammer. If you swallow both enemies in this room simultaneously, you'll be able to get Hammer if you don't press any buttons. This door leads to a switch that unlocks the Level 6 Arena.
When you're done here, leave the area and head to the right of the maze section. You'll enter another vertical section where you'll slowly work your way down. There's another U.F.O. here...swallow it!
The next section is the last...and it's really easy if you go through it with the U.F.O. ability.

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 5 of 9
We're officially halfway through the game!
Level 4
Grape Garden
(continued)Level 4-6
The first section is bomb block fun. Destroy the bomb blocks and take down everybody in your way. You'll find an easy-to-access Pep Brew here if you need it. When you enter the door, you'll fight the alarm clock guy again. Take Mike if you need it after you finish him off, then enter the next section, which is a dark room. You should be able to find a secret room here if you get the Light ability here. But you can still find it without the Light ability, as it is after the first wall you have to jump over in the beginning of this section. Just jump over it, then go all the way to the left and press Up. This leads to a switch that opens up the Warp Star room in Level 4.
You'll be back in the first section, in that upper-right hand corner that you weren't able to access before.
The next room has the Stone power-up if you need it. You can use it to destroy the stumps in the ground. Hit the one at the top, then hit the one under the door before you hit the one in the middle. Boom. 1-Up.
Another verical section here for the last section. The color scheme here is actually pretty nice. Just a short ladder climb to the door. There's another Pep Brew nearby if need it.
Level 4 Boss
Oh, crap, it's Kracko!
Swallow the Hi-Jump guy, then jump for dear life. When you reach the top of this level, you'll finally take this guy on.
Avoid his thunderbolt attack as he moves from left to right, and use the Hi-Jump ability to jump straight into him and cause some damage. If you lose it, use the guys with the capes he spits out every so often as ammunition. Another classic hold-over from Kirby's Adventure.
Level 5
Yogurt Yard
Level 5-1
Well, we have some side-scrolling fun in the first section. Take down the enemies and avoid the cannons. Believe it or not, you can hit the cannon and use your temporarily invincibility that results from that to get to the door behind it. This leads For now, let's go all the way to the right and use the door there.
The second section is a long drop down. Let Kirby lean downward as he falls (he can bounce off the tops of enemies doing this and save himself from unnecessary damage). There's a Pep Brew at the beginning of this section. The door will be to your left when you land on the star blocks below.
If you go under these star blocks, you'll find another door that leads to a switch. This leads to the Crane Game.
The third section is some more platforming. We've seen the penguins before, but I forgot to mention that they give you the Ice ability, which is more of an ice breath than the ice field that Freeze creates. (It's like a combination of Freeze and Fire.) Short stage sure is short.
Level 5-2
What are you waiting for? Go down the ladder and start this sucker up.
Make your way through this little maze. Go all the way to the right and follow the doors. (Watch out for the coconuts that fall from the ceiling in the third room.) Keep on following the path and you'll take on Bonkers again.
There's not much to this stage, really.
Level 5-3
Fly upwards through the first section, and quickly. You'll be able to avoid the cannon's firepower easily. The second section is also vertical. Float up (or let the current take you up, whatever works) then go to the right and into the next door.
It's back to side-scrolling in the third section. Get the Wheel ability here, then speed your way through this part, jumping over walls and over the spike pit.
There's a hidden door behind those two star blocks in the next section. For now, though, let's continue on to the right. Go into the door, and start flying. You'll need the slowed down descent to help you avoid the spikes. Fly carefully. If you need health, there's a Pep Brew near the exit.
Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 4 of 9
We take down Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright and continue onward!
Level 3
Butter Building
(continued)
Level 3 Boss
Oh, crap! It's Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright!
When Mr. Shine (the moon) is in the air, he'll send a star shower after you. Use them as ammunition, but don't let them hit you. As you do, avoid the sun's fireballs.
When Mr. Bright (the sun) is in the air, he'll try to hit you with a giant, scorching sunbeam. Stay away from it and inhale the stars that come out when it hits the ground. Avoid Mr. Shine as he rolls towards you.
When you take one of them out, they'll still be in the air to hound you, but they won't be able to come back down to fight you again.
For some strange reason, Wheel is a very efficient way of finishing them off. That is awesome.
Level 4
Grape Garden
Level 4-1
The first section is a side-scrolling romp through the clouds. It's pretty easy, really. The second section is a vertical section that will have you jumping to the top. It's just as short and as easy as the first one.
The third section looks like there's nothing...until you go to the right. Be prepared to swallow the little U.F.O. that flies by to get another ability exclusive to this game: the UFO ability. Kirby will turn into a UFO, and the more you hold down the B button, the more you'll charge up your shot. The maximum charge deals quite a bit of damage.
The fourth section is really easy if you're the U.F.O. Just fly around, don't let anything touch you, and shoot down all the enemies and star blocks you can. Love the Aurora Borealis action going on in the background. If you destroy a lot of the star blocks as the U.F.O., you'll find a switch that opens up the Egg Catching game for Level 4.
The last section is straightforward. Just follow the path and take down the enemies.
Level 4-2
Level 4-2 stars out in a castle. If you're expecting something like Castle Lololo from Kirby's Dream Land...well...
9:12 - When Kwife swallow this Poppy Bros. Jr., you see the Fireball power-up graphic for a brief moment. Weird.
To get to the door in the first section, destroy the bomb block. That's all you have to do. (Kwife trying too hard to figure this out for minutes on end is hilarious, by the way.) From there, avoid the Poppy Bros. Jr. and get to the next door.
Follow the path in the third section. You'll find a door hidden by star blocks near the end, which has a Maxim Tomato in it if you need it.
The fourth section has you defeating enemies while avoiding spikes. There is a Pep Brew here, but you'll have to carefully navigate between spikes in order to get to it. When you make it to the end of this part, you'll face two Poppy Bros. Sr. at the same time. Fly to the top of the room and you might get one of them to jump to the other side and stay there, so you can inhale two bombs at the same time and send it back as an even powerful star blast. (This also made its debut in Kirby's Adventure, by the way.) And that's it!

Level 4-3
Swallow the fire guy, then run to the fuse that's in the ground and use the Fire ability on it. Run to the cannon and jump into it. You'll find a one-up. You'll then return to the cannon so you can enter the next section.
Prepare to fly for your life on the other side. There are all sorts of blimps in the air, and you'll need to be careful as your navigate your way through the skies. Make your way to the lower-right hand corner of the second section, and you'll find the switch for the level. This will unlock the Level 4 Museum. (If you've lost any health, hitting a switch will completely refill it, so remember that.) From there, head back through the door and float near the bottom of the section to the left. You'll find the entrance to the third section. Here, you'll be fighting against the current to the Warp Star. Take care of the flying guys as you progress, since they take up quite a bit of space. From there, it's a quick flight to the goal.

Level 4-4
You'll be on what appears to be an airship in storage when you begin this level. In the middle, you'll see Kabuus on top of each other. When you get close, they'll fade out before reappearing behind you and charging towards you. Fly into the air and you'll be able to avoid them. The second section is in a forest of grape trees. (I think. I dunno.) You'll be dealing with a few chicks flying around, but that's about it.
Swallowing the Wheel and using it to go down the hills makes the third section easier, since you'll be able to mow down enemies on your way to the door at the bottom. You'll need it to enter the door on the left and get the 1-up near it, and you're not gonna get a second chance unless you start the level over.
You'll fight a new mini-boss in the next section: a pillbug that rolls around. He'll send some miniature clones of himself at you, which you'll have to use as ammunition. Be careful if you're flying above him, because he can jump to the ceiling here. Swallowing him will give you the Throw ability, which also never appeared in another Kirby game. It makes getting through the last, simple section even easier. You can use the Control Pad to guide your throws.

Level 4-5
The Meta Knight throws you another lollipop again at the beginning. Grab it and run like hell. Enter the first door you see, which has some Gordos flying around as well as spikes on the floor. If you enter the door in the star blocks midway through the bottom half of this section, you'll find a 1-up. Now, let's go back, go past the rock, and enter the second door. This is the second section.
The second section is just the entrance to a castle, so go into the door and fight Meta Knight's little buddies. After that, you'll be in a huge, open hallway with some enemies. Getting the Fireball ability here makes it a tad easier. The final section is a real test. Fly carefully past the Gordos to make it to the goal.

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 3 of 9
We take on that nasty tower known as the Butter Building and cause even more cuteness-related havoc!
Level 2
Ice Cream Island
(continued)
Warp Star Station
Well, now that you have two worlds you can switch back and forth between, you can use the Warp Star Station whenever it's available. Just pick the number you want to go to, go to the Warp Star below it, and you'll instantly backtrack to that world. It works even better when you have multiple worlds cleared.
With the Warp Star Station, you won't have to walk through a bunch of maps to look for the ability you want.
Level 2 Boss
This guy on skates seems to be some prototype of Arty, who would debut in Kirby's Dream Land 3. Avoid this guy while keeping an eye out for the stuff he draws that comes to life. The Waddle Dees, parasols and cars that he draws can be inhaled and spat back out at him for damage.
The painter will also hang onto walls for a brief moment to jump from the lower level to the higher level, so be on the lookout for that.
The painter will also hang onto walls for a brief moment to jump from the lower level to the higher level, so be on the lookout for that.
Level 3
Butter Building
All right! A new level!
Level 3-1
After entering the building in the first section, you'll come across a room with bomb blocks that send enemies crashing down on you when you destroy them and the wall tiles along with them. Spit an air pellet at it. That way, you'll have plenty of time to move out of the way. You'll be able to get the Stone ability again in this room.
You'll fight the alarm clock guy again, then go through the door. You'll see the exit above you in the next section...but for now, just follow the lower path. When you enter the door here, you'll see a switch, but you won't be able to reach it quite yet. Go ahead and enter the door to the left of it, then head towards the goal.
When you head back to the map, the door will stay orange. Here's how to get to that switch: go back to the room with the switch, and go down from the start. You'll notice two star blocks. Destroy them and you'll find a door. Go in and you'll be next to the switch. Congrats, you now have access to the Level 3 Arena!
Level 3-2
It's a climb to the top in Level 3-2.
You'll be making another vertical climb in the first section. Take down all the enemies and make your way to the top.
The second section is pretty interesting. As you move to the right, the tower actually rotates. For a game that uses the more common (and less expensive) MMC3 mapping chip, this is actually pretty interesting. I'm surprised this wasn't done on the NES a year or two prior to the game's release. After you walk a certain distance, a part of the tower wall explodes and you'll get a door you can go through. Be careful not to accidentally walk off the tower.
The third section is a narrow, vertical corridor. Watch out for enemies on the way up, especially the stone guys. Also, the background here looks like something from the 80s that has yet to be dragged by the hair, kicking and screaming, into the next century.
The fourth section is another vertical section with spikes lining it. Avoid them as you make your way to the top, and fly over the Gordos at the top of this section.
The fifth section is a room with two penguins which give you the Freeze ability if you swallow one of them. To get the power-ups in this room, slide into the bomb blocks, get the item, then fly back up for dear life.
You'll fight Buggsy, the pro wrestling beetle in the next room. Avoid him as he comes towards you and inhale the tiny beetles he sends at you for ammunition. When you swallow him, you'll get the Back Drop ability (which is pretty hard to get). It didn't appear in any other Kirby games, and was upgraded into what became known as the Suplex ability in Kirby Super Star (which, interestingly enough, you also got from Buggsy). Also, a doorway will appear above the ladder.
...and that's it for Level 3-2!
Level 3-3
You'll be avoiding those flying guys again as you climb the ladders in the first section. It seems kind of confusing with all the like colors in this room, but it really isn't.
More tower rotation action appears in the second section. I still find this amazing even now.
The third and last section is vertical and full of doors. Just go into the highest door you can reach, take down the star blocks, and enter the next door. It's easy.
As you use these doors, you'll enter a purple vertical section that's a mirror image of the room you were just in. The third door in the purple room takes you to a hidden 1-up (watch out for the spikes!) while the fourth door should take you to a Maxim Tomato if you need it.
Level 3-4
Take the Warp Star to the door and enter. You'll fight more of the Meta Knight's flunkies before you can continue on.
The next section is another room with more enemies, followed by a vertical section where the wind lifts you upwards as soon as you start flying. Avoid the cannons and Gordos as you make your way up. You'll find a Maxim Tomato, a 1-Up and a Pep Brew here.
Quick Draw
The door with the cowboy hat above it takes you to the Quick Draw mini-game.
Press the A button as soon as the screen tells you to fire to win this battle. If you can make it past Dedede in the final battle, you'll get three extra lives. If you fail against him, you get one.
If you fire too early twice, the game is automatically over.
The sign on the cactus to the left is the timer. The smaller the number is, the better your reflexes are. I usually get no better than 10, but sometimes I can land a 08 if I try hard enough.
Yes, this is the mini-game that the Samurai Kirby mini-game from Kirby Super Star is (somewhat) based off of.
This one has four difficulty levels just like the other mini-games...and the harder difficulties can get insane and try your patience.

Level 3-5
There's a lollipop in the first room, so go grab it and enter the next section. Dash through it and it'll make the tower rotation part here a breeze. You won't be touching many enemies here if you keep running like a dog is chasing after your ass, but better safe than sorry, right?
The snowman in the third section gives you the Freeze ability if you swallow him. Other than that, there's not much else to say about this part.
The fourth section is another mini-boss fight. This time, you'll be fighting Bonkers. He'll try to hit you with a hammer and throw explosive coconuts at you. Avoid him and his hammer attacks, and use the coconuts he throws at you as well as the stars he creates from hitting the ground with his hammer as ammunition. You can swallow him to get the Hammer ability after you finish him off.
The fifth and final section is just some power-ups. If you got the Hammer ability earlier, you can use the hammer on the wooden post to get them. Enjoy your Maxim Tomato, as well as your 1-up!
Level 3-6
You can get the Laser ability in the first room if you need it. It comes in handy in the next section. Run away from the Gordo and don't let those walking bombs touch the ground! You don't want to anchored to the earth in any way when they blow up!
The third section is another vertical section. It's pretty easy, but you can find another Maxim Tomato here if you need the health.
The fourth section is some more rotating tower action. Nice.
The fifth section has a hidden door near the star blocks. Go in, shoot an air pellet at the bomb block, then fly to the door and make it to the top of the room as you do so. This way, you can avoid the wall the bomb block makes when it explodes. From there, enter the next doorway and hit the switch. The Level 3 Egg Catcher game is yours.
The sixth section is dark. If you can swallow the glowing enemy here, you'll get another ability exclusive to this game - Light. This lets you light up the room and is one use only. You'll be able to find an easy-to-miss door here if you use it.
The seventh and last section is a narrow, vertical section. Swallowing the Hi-Jump guy makes this a little faster.
Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 2 of 9
We took care of some business in that last episode, but how much of a new one will Kwife rip open this time...in 25 minutes of video goodness? Let's find out!
Level 2
Ice Cream Island
(continued)
Egg Catcher
This one is pretty simple: press A to catch the eggs in Kirby's mouth...but don't catch the bombs!
The more you catch, the better the prize you'll get. If you catch enough eggs, you can get a 1-Up, but you can get even more extra lives if you can somehow get all 30 of them!
This mini-game gets more and more batshit insane later on. Four-star difficulty is just...nuts...

This mini-game gets more and more batshit insane later on. Four-star difficulty is just...nuts...
Level 2-2
After you enter the door at the beginning, you'll start to actually play the level. The bomb block destroys all the wall tiles next to it when struck in any way. You'll soon find a Warp Star in front of a wonderful-looking ocean (which still looks good even today) which will take you to the nearby desert.
There are some enemies you can steal the abilities of inside the stone steps, which will prove useful against the mini-boss you're about to face: a sentient, Kirby-sized tire. He'll try to run into you, but if you avoid his ramming attacks, you'll be able to hit him while he's either turning around or spinning in place on the ground. When he spins in place, he'll also send out a miniature tire at you, which you can inhale and send back at him for intense damage.
Swallowing him will give you the Wheel ability, which will prove quite useful in the rest of this section. Just avoid any pits you come across.
The next section is just a simple room. There's a Pep Brew if you need it, but other than that and a few enemies, that's about it.

The next section is just a simple room. There's a Pep Brew if you need it, but other than that and a few enemies, that's about it.
Level 2-3
The first section is just some simple flying. Just fly all the way to the right and enter the door to the next section.
The second section is just as simple. If you get the Sword ability from this room, you'll be able to break the bomb blocks to the left near the entrance to the next section.
The third section is just some simple swimming. When you enter the door at the other side, you'll be at the other side of the second section. Another simple fly-by. If you can hit the bomb block at this part, you can get the 1-up that's hidden in the water in the wall.
The next section has you meeting with that guy in the mask again. Yeah, it's the Meta-Knight. Unfortunately for you, he sends some of his flunkies after you. As you inhale them, others will come to take their place until the Enemy life meter runs out. Inhaling one of his minions and spitting him into another makes this a little simpler, since you take care of two enemies at one time. They'll throw weapons at you, so be careful.
When you beat them all, you'll get the door to the fifth section of this level. If you need it, there's a Pep Brew near the beginning of this part that you can easily get to. That's it for Level 2-3.
Level 2-4
Yay. Clouds.
The door shortly after the beginning of the first section has a 1-Up in it, so go in there and get it; it's not that hard. There's also a Maxim Tomato tucked around some star blocks if you need that, as well.
The second section is another mini-boss fight. The blue guy that move around slowly is a sentient rock (more or less). Swallowing him gives you the Stone ability, which allows Kirby to turn into a rock. Most useful when in the air and above an enemy. You can also roll down slopes! Whee!
Anyway, you'll meet an alarm clock with feet. He runs and jumps around before ringing his bells and sending notes at you. Inhale one of the notes and you'll be able to spit it back at him. When you swallow him, you'll get the Mike ability. You can use it up to three times before it finally disappears, and it clears out all the enemies currently onscreen.
The Mike ability will work especially well in the next section, where you'll take on those happy floating bomb guys. (Happy Floating Bomb Guys. That is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever written in these blogs. I apologize.)
If you use the Mike ability up completely before entering the next doorway, you'll be able to get the 1-up here. Just inhale the round guy in this room and swallow him to get the Laser ability. Then, fire it into one of the small slope near the walls and the laser will bounce upwards, hitting the bomb block and sending the 1-Up down to where you are.
The next section gives you another chance to get the Laser power-up with the same guy. He'll fly around, try to line up with you, then fire a laser before floating away. If you get the Laser ability and enter the doorway after the beginning of this section, you'll find a room with a Pep Brew in it. Once again, shooting the Laser into the angled flooring will send it in the enemies easily.
From here, it's some more flying (and more cannon-dodging) to the goal.
Arena
The door with the crossed battle axes above it is the Arena. Here you can take on a mini-boss and get an ability (if you swallow the guy afterwards) as well as a Maxim Tomato if you win.
This one has the walrus guy. (Heh, heh, WalrusGuy.) Same as ever.
This one has the walrus guy. (Heh, heh, WalrusGuy.) Same as ever.
Museum
The Level 2 Museum has the Laser and the Fire power-ups. Nice.
Level 2-5
The first section is full of cannons and Waddle Dees. Avoid the cannons and take out all the enemies as you make your way to the right.
The second section is a little easier. There are some wheels you can try to swallow to get the Wheel ability, which you can use to take the lower of the two doorways, which leads to a Pep Brew. Just remember not to press B until you gotten past the Gordo. You can also fly over the Gordo and not get hit.
The sleeping guys give you the Sleep ability when swallowed. The Sleep ability does absolutely nothing, as it just makes Kirby sleep for a few seconds before he wakes up.
The third section takes place in the clouds. Here, you'll meet some weird flying guy with a cape as well as a parasol that tries to follow you and explode in your face. You can actually go into one of the houses, whose window looks like (and acts like) a door. You'll find this house right before Sir Kibble. You can get the Fire ability from the enemies in this easy-to-miss room.
The next section has those guys in the capes again. Swallowing one of them will give you another ability that never appeared again in the Kirby series: Hi-Jump. Press B to jump really high in the air. While you're doing that, you'll be flashing at the same time, and you'll be able to power your way through enemies and star blocks. You can even use it on some of the bosses! Just be careful with those bomb guys.
The next section begins with a Poppy Bros. Jr. riding on a Maxim Tomato. If you inhale the guy or take him out with a skillfully placed air blast, you'll be able to keep the tomato. (Yes, you can damage the Maxim Tomato and lose it.) From here, it's just some open space that you can walk to the goal from.

Kwife plays Kirby's Adventure - Part 1 of 9
These are going to be the longest videos I've ever covered. You might want to either place them in your "Watch Later" section on your YouTube account or something. This one's twenty minutes, but they get a little longer further on.
Also, I finally cover this awesome game. About time.

Level 1
Vegetable Valley
Good lord, the game looks beautiful.
In case anyone cares, the entire game is 6 MB.
First things first: if you swallow and enemy and Kirby starts flashing when he has it in his mouth, you can swallow that enemy and steal their ability. Even though it's taken for granted now, this was the first game in the series where this tactic made an appearance.
Level 1-1
This isn't a difficult level by any stretch of the imagination.
When you're in the second section, you'll learn that having Kirby stand on a steep slope causes him to slide back down (sometimes). The third and last section also has a little pool of water where you can learn the basics of swimming (kind of).
The tomato with the M is a Maxim Tomato. This will completely refill your health if you come in contact with one.
Remember, certain enemies cause Kirby to flash when he inhales them into his mouth. Experiment and see which enemies have what abilities! Waddle Dee (the guy with the one eye) has Beam, while the pig-creatures have the Fire ability.
The bonus game at the end of the level (signified by the doorway with the stars across the edges) can either get you more points (which don't seem to serve any purpose in this game) or a 1-Up if you can manage to reach the top. Press A at the right time to launch Kirby up as far as you can. (I usually manage to make it only to 2, for some reason.)
Level 1-2
As you clear stages, you'll uncover more parts of the map and place a flag near the level you just finished. If a completed level's door is white with an orange star, you've completed the level. If it's still orange with a white star, you need to find a switch in order to reveal even more of the map than usual and invert the door colors.
Anyway, you'll meet the Gordo at the beginning of this level. These black, flying sea urchins (or whatever they are) are indestructible and act as the moving "spike" creatures of the Kirby universe. Fun. Get rid of the star block to cause it to fly into the sky and never return.
The star blocks act as ammunition for Kirby in case he doesn't have an ability. Just inhale one and let it loose at a nearby enemy. You'll also meet the Cappies. Inhale them once to carry their mushroom cap-like heads in your mouth, then spit them at the guy that was underneath. Sir Kibble (the boomerang throwing guy in the Roman centurion-like knight's helmet) has the Cutter ability.
You will see a Warp Star at the end of the first section. Move Kirby into it and see where it takes him!
The second section is somewhere up in the mountains (I guess). You'll also meet your first mini-boss: Poppy Bros. Sr. If you have an ability, he's easier to take down. He's just like he was in Kirby's Dream Land: he just jumps around and throws bombs, and sometimes he dashes. When you've finished him off, you can swallow him for the Crash ability, which is a one-time-only ability that allows you to destroy everything onscreen. If he falls down, he'll explode, and if you're on the ground when that happens, you'll take damage.
The third section is pretty easy, and the fourth one is just a short climb to the goal. You can swallow the guy with the sword to get the Sword ability, which is pretty awesome.
Crane Fever
The door with the Kirby doll dangling from above it is the Crane Fever mini-game. You can only do it once per world per session (unless you save your game and turn it off, then you can play it again).
Hold the A button down until it's where you want it to go (read: above the Kirby doll). The regular one is a 1-Up, while the big one is a 2-Up. You only have two chances.
Also, when you see the mini-game explanation screen, be sure to pay attention to the number of stars at the lower-right hand corner of the rules. The more stars there are, the harder it becomes. Right now, we only have one star, but as the number of stars increases, the crane will become harder to control.

Level 1-3
You'll meet a new, indestructible hazard here: the cannons. They'll shoot at you at predetermined rates and patterns...so pay attention before you try to go past one. The cannonballs they shoot disappear after traveling a certain distance. These things aren't hard...but later...
Anyway, you can take care of the ones on top of the star blocks by getting rid of said blocks. You'll meet Kabuu, a spinning Easter Island head that jumps around, trying to get in your way at the end of this section.
The red balls at the beginning of the second section have the Fireball ability, which let you fly forward for a second like a huge...well...fireball. You'll meet Sparky again at the end of this section if you want Spark again, too.
The third section has you going down and swimming through some water. The fish with the eyepatch will follow you around if he sees you, which makes him somewhat of a pain in the pants. It's not very long, though.
The fourth section is more easy street. You'll find a Maxim Tomato at the very end, though I don't know why you would need it at this point.
Ability Museum
The door that appears to the left of Stage 1-3 when you complete it is the Ability Museum. Go inside, inhale the enemy you find there, and take the power-up. You'll find some of the abilities in the game here more easily than usual, and a few of them will have you going back to the world they're in just to use it to get past a certain spot at times. Check them out.
World 1 gives you the Sword power-up. Thank you, HAL, for giving us instant access to one of the awesome abilities early in the game.
Level 1-4
The first section has you climbing upwards into a tree. You'll fight Chilly the Walrus here. Avoid him as he tries to slide and dash into you and wait for him to throw an ice cube at him, then inhale it and spit it back at him. Like all the mini-bosses, he isn't very difficult. You can swallow him after you beat him to get the Freeze ability.
The second section is even easier if you have the Freeze ability, since you can freeze enemies, turn them into ice cubes and then send them flying to the right and dashing so they'll destroy anyone that's ahead.
The third section is another vertical section. The spiky guy can only be destroyed when he's not spinning. You can also inhale him and swallow him to get the Needle ability. Destroy the star blocks and treat the opening behind it like a door to enter section 4.
Not long after you start the fourth section, some guy in a mask will throw a lollipop your way. Take it, then run like hell to the other end. You'll be invincible as long as your flashing and the special music that comes with it is playing. There's also a 1-Up between two cannons if you need it.
Level 1 Boss
The boss here is Whispy Woods. Yeah, the tree that everybody and their dog knows about. Nothing to it: wait for the apples to drop out of the leaves and spit them back at the tree while staying away from the air pellets he spits out. This time, he spits two or four in quick succession at a time, and they're a little harder to avoid than in Kirby's Dream Land.
When you beat him, grab the wand that comes out. This is a piece of the Star Rod, which Dedede split into several pieces and hid throughout the world. Why? We don't know. All we know is that we did. Now go grab it.

Level 2
Ice Cream Island
Level 2-1
This world is like Float Islands. Treat the coconuts on the palm trees like enemies, since they explode when they try to fall on you.
The first door you see not only has a Pep Brew (which restores two points of your life) hidden underneath some star blocks, but also a Waddle Dee with a parasol waiting for you as soon as you enter. Eat him to get the Parasol ability, which lets you whack people with an umbrella and slowly float downwards a la Mary Poppins. When you leave this room, you'll be above the door you entered.
The floating guy from Bubbly Clouds in Kirby's Dream Land make an appearance near the end of the first section. Take him out by flying and spitting an air pellet at him. Inhaling him will just make him mad and chase after you, before he explodes after a few sections.
The second section gives you another sword guy (and another parasol!) as well as a new enemy: a walking bomb with a skull painted on it. If you manage to swallow it, you'll get the Crash ability. Don't be on the ground (or near a wall or ceiling) when he falls off an edge and lands on the ground...he will explode and try to take you with him for a unit of damage.
The third section introduces you to the spinning top enemy that will give you the Tornado ability - an ability that never made it into any other Kirby game.
