PrinceWatercress plays Chrono Trigger (Super NES) - Part 3 of 70

It is here that the adventure begins...

First | Previous | Next | End

I forgot to mention the last three options in the game menu.

The fourth icon is an icon that looks like the battle screen on a TV, and here, you can change the appearance of the text window, change what the buttons on the controller do, show how HP and MP values look during battle, switch between Active and Wait for the battle menu, and other things.

The fifth icon is the Exchange Menu, and works when you have three party members on your team. This allows you to switch the positions of the characters in the active party. Nothing complex here.

The sixth and last icon is the save menu. If you are at the sparkles that comprise a save point, or if you are anywhere on the world map, you can use this menu to save your game.

Now that you're able to go to the north end of the square, you can do so. Here, you'll see Lucca's new invention: the Telepod, which allows people to be transported from one location to another. Talk to Lucca, and you'll be able to try it out. Step on the left pod, and Lucca and her father Taban will take care of the rest. You'll be teleported from the left pad to the right pad effortlessly, and everyone watching will be amazed!

From here, talk to Marle. Marle will want to get the Telepod a try, but when she does, her pendant reacts somehow, and this leads to a portal being opened and sucking Marle in. After everyone leaves, Lucca will wonder what went wrong, then mentions that Marle looks familiar and that she is sure she has seen her somewhere. (If you try to leave the north end of the square, Lucca will tell you to get Marle back.)

At this point, grab the pendant by walking into it. Crono will agree to go after Marle, much to the surprise of Lucca. Crono then puts on the pendant, and Lucca and Taban are able to re-create the portal again, with Lucca promising to meet you when she knows what went wrong.

You'll then travel through the portal, and you'll get some nice visuals showing what the inside of the portal looks like before you are dumped off somewhere. Before you can leave this screen, you have to face three Blue Imps, but they're not that hard.

From here, you'll be facing a few more enemies, including a Roly, who just rolls around and jumps at you. The Tonic replenishes 50 HP, while the Power Glove increases your power and attack by two.

Once you leave Truce Canyon, you'll end up in a place similar to Truce, but when you go around and talk to people, you'll find out that you're in 600 A.D., which is 400 years before the present day! Everyone is worried about Queen Leene disappearing, with some of them mentioning that the search has been called off due to Queen Leene supposedly being found in the canyon. Others will mention the war against Magus and the Mystics, which was touched upon when talking to the people in 1000 A.D. just earlier in the game, and even one resident is creating what will become Leene's Bell, which is the bell that rang after you ran into Marle at the beginning of the game.

If you go to the Truce Inn and talk to people there, you'll meet Toma. If you pay for his drink (which costs a little bit of money), you'll be able to talk to him and get some information from him. Remember this for later.

The Zenan Bridge, which is complete in the present, is broken in 600 A.D., and you won't be able to cross it here...yet.

There is also a cathedral here, but the nuns here act a little strange. You won't be able to do anything here yet, either.

There is only one place to go, and that is Guardia Castle. We won't be heading there until the next video...
