DeceasedCrab plays Trilby's Notes - Part 1 of 13

We finally put the Chzo Mythos series to rest with the second (storyline-wise) entry in the series: Trilby's Notes.

Also, this one's gonna be full of spoilers, and unless you've seen my guides for 5 Days a Stranger, 6 Days a Sacrifice, and 7 Days a Skeptic, there's gonna be storyline spoilers all over the place...so read those now before getting into this bad boy!

Well, after the events of 5 Days A Stranger, apparently not all is right. Jim Fowler was expelled from school for truancy, Simone Taylor became an alcoholic, and Trilby is haunted by the memory of his possession where he killed Philip.

After he somehow gets himself arrested in a police sting, Trilby gets arrested but is placed in the STP - the Special Talent Project. After a year and a half of working a government job, Simone enters Trilby's picture again. She has now become a virtual recluse and a complete wreck of her former self. Trilby decides to visit her.

Simone's Flat

This time around, there are no mouse controls. It's keyboard only. If you've played the original versions of the first few King's Quest games, you know how this works: move Trilby with the Arrow Keys and type in the necessary commands with the keyboard. F3 lets you re-input your last command instantly, while TAB lets you look at your inventory. (At least you don't have to type "look inventory" anymore.)

Go up to the second door and knock on it. After three knocks, it's apparent that Simone isn't going to let you in the old fashioned way. Look in your inventory and you'll find out that you have lockpicks. Use them on the door.

The room is dark, but you can easily walk to the blinds. Open them, and you'll find a dead body when the thunder strikes and lets some light in. Look at it, and you'll find out that it's definitely Simone Taylor. Trilby calls an ambulance and leaves.

The Rest of the Story

A week later, after being relieved of duty from what has transpired, Simone's death is ruled as supernatural activity. Trilby's superiors assign him a new duty - the DeFoe Manor Incident. Several trinkets had been taken by looters, including the wooden idol that housed John DeFoe's soul which was originally thought to be burned to oblivion. Trilby instructs Jim Fowler to go into hiding. The idol has made its way to honorable historian Abel Chahal (that last name look familiar?), who has scheduled an antique fair near the Clanbronwyn Hotel (this should also look familiar if you've watched 6 Days a Sacrifice). Trilby books a room.

Clanbronwyn Hotel

As soon as Trilby arrives, he meets up with Lenkmann from the Ministry of Occultism, the agency that looked into Simone's death. Lenkmann knows that the DeFoe Manor Incident has affected Trilby psychologically, but nevertheless he is doing a separate investigation as part of doing what he needs to do. He disappears around the corner of the building, and Trilby enters the hotel lobby.

Trilby enters the lobby and shirks off the odd feeling he has about the hotel. He signs in under the name Terence Railby (a clever alteration of the name "Trilby"), and is assigned room 3-C. As he signs in on the check-in book, Professor Abed Chahal comes to the desk and tells the woman at the desk (whose name is Bethan) that he is having dinner in his room.
