NintendoCapriSun plays SmartBall aka Jerry Boy - Part 1 of 3

The first two minutes or so contain the in-game intro from the Super Famicom version, which is known as Jerry Boy. Basically, Jerry and Emi run the country and Jerry's jealous brother Tom (who is probably second in line to the throne) gets tempted by an evil wizard and Jerry turns into this blue blob.

Stage 1-A

You can stick to walls by holding the Y button.

The little signs with the letters spell out the word "Jerry," and they serve as checkpoints in case you die. If you hit all five checkpoints in a level, you'll get two extra lives.

Collect the balls to get ammo to shoot at the bad guys from a short distance. Of course, you can also attack enemies by either pressing yourself on the ground or moving your body upwards (you'll have to watch this to see what I'm getting at with the latter).

Stand on the flowers to get them to bloom. The power-ups in them will allow you to either refill your health, get extra lives, or get balls to arm yourself against enemies.

There's a 1-up above the start. Thankfully, you can use the treetops to reach the cloud platforms. They start going up when you stand on them, so stay on them if you're looking for some hidden stuff. You'll find some previously unreachable stuff at least once.

Stage 1-B

This is where the enemies start to get slightly interesting. You have phoenixes that drop flames at you from above. You'll also see the rock enemies that start moving when you get close quite a bit in the game, too.

It should be noted that when you let go of the Y button and stop running, you'll be a darker color. If you're sticking to a wall when you do this, you'll slowly drift down. Keep this in mind, since it can help you inch downwards when you need to.

The bird boss is pretty easy. Hit him as he's coming toward you, and take advantage of the brief time when they blink after you hit them - you won't be able to hit them again until it stops, but they can't hit you by touching you, either.

Stage 2-A

The music really starts getting good here.

You can go through the pipes in the sewers rather easily.

The cockroaches in the sewers won't be beatable until they get off the wall and get bigger.

You'll also start seeing spikes here. If you hit them, it's instant death.

The yellow ball with the word "1-Up" on it is an extra life. You'll see these every so often.

Stage 2-B

You'll have to take a ride on the bird to make it to the E.

The iron ball works much like the regular ball, except it slows you down tremendously and you can't jump very high. The fact that it doesn't go very far means you can use it against the boss.

The boss is a group of 12 birds. They fly around and create a rectangular formation, and teh spaces between this look like fish. Speaking of fish, that's exactly what come out of those spaces...fish with legs. Take down the birds with the iron ball, and take out any fish that manage to pop up. The birds will seperate and join together every so often, but that's pretty much all they can do.

Don't worry about taking out the top row, just work on the middle and bottom rows.

Stage 3-A

The jump power-up allows you to jump higher. You have to get rid of it in order to pick up items, though.

There are tons of new enemies here: a sand worm that chases after you, cacti with eyes at the top that move up and down in the sand, scarabs that jump in and out of the ground, and quicksand.

You'll also find hidden passages in the sand, and they're similar to the pipes in Stage 2-A.

It's spelled oasis, not oasys.

Stage 3-B

It starts getting dark in the beginning of the stage, and the moon comes out. Yeah, there's your explanation for the screen getting slightly dark in the beginning of the stage. It's the game.

Get the Jump power-up at the beginning of the stage. It'll be really helpful in the room with the lava, since you'll need it to stick to the ceiling.

The H.Up is "health up." It's a clear heart, and if you pick it up, your maximum health increases by one.

The boss is extremely easy. Hit the boss in the chest area with four balls and you're done. You can do it as soon as he hits the ground, and you won't have to deal with any of his attacks. There you go. You'll get on a rocket and go to the moon.
