angryponcho plays Spyro the Dragon - Part 21 of 21

Before this game comes to an end, there's still one more thing left to do...

Gnorc Gnexus

After beating Gnasty Gnorc, you'll return to Gnorc Gnexus. You'll find out that there is another trapped dragon in the center. Free him, and you'll find out that you'll have to have 100% in order to enter the final level.

Of course, if you've collected everything up until this point, talking to him actually gives you 100%. Weird.

Anyway, it's time to show this sucker off.

Gnasty's Loot

At first, it may look like you're stuck. But when you glide into the pool at the beginning of the level to kill yourself, you'll find out that Spyro can fly.

Yes. You can fly in this level.

You can only fly as high as you've gotten in the level, so use that as a hint about where you should go next.

As expected, you'll be beating up thieves in order to get the keys that open doors in this level. Some of them will be in planes that you will have to flame down in order to get the key. The second plane will take a little bit of work and some keen flying, but it can be taken down.

Once you unlock the last door and collect the gem on the other side, you can fly anywhere in the level! All that's left is to look around the top of the level and flame all the firecrackers to open up the impenetrable metal chests! From there, find the exit and follow the path of gems to find the second half of all the treasure! Once you've found all 2000 gems, you've finally done it! You've beaten the game! Congratulations!

There's not much left to collect now, and Spyro is getting closer to Gnasty Gnorc...much closer.

Also, Gnorcs with guns? Man, the prequel was violent.

Twilight Harbor

The first enemies you'll see are Gnorcs with machine guns. As soon as they cock their guns when you get too close, you'd better be charging or flaming them, because that gun can pack a punch! Same for the guys with the knives, as they can throw grenades. Both of these guys have deadly accuracy!

There are bigger versions of the Gnorc soldiers. The Gnorc commandos wear a beret, attack like the soldiers, and can only be flamed.

Flame the crank-switches as you go by, and you'll turn the bridge into a pair of ramps. You'll need to do this with the first bridge so you can use the Supercharge power-up to continue on. From there, you can lower the bridge again, use the Supercharge ramp and break down that impenetrable metal chest you saw just before the bridge.

Gnasty Gnorc

This isn't going to be easy.

To lower the platforms that Gnasty Gnorc stands on and shoots at you with magical lasers from beyond your reach, you'll have to look around and chase after thieves. Everytime you flame a thief (they're pretty fast), you'll get a key.

Of course, the first key isn't going to unlock the platform where Gnasty is standing. Instead, it opens a door. Open the door and you'll immediately find another thief. Get him and you'll get the key to the platform. Turns out it's a wall that acts as a stairway when you use the key there. From there, charge after Gnasty, and flame him as soon as he turns around. After that first hit, you'll be chasing after him again.

This time around, you'll be gliding. Your gliding skills are going to be put to the ultimate test. Don't bother keeping up with him. Instead, just focus on gliding to the platforms, which slowly move into the walls. If they sink into the walls, you're boned. When you meet him one more time, flame him again. Gnasty Gnorc is gone in just a mere two hits.

angryponcho plays Spyro the Dragon - Part 19 of 21

We finally meet up with Jacques and torch him! But it's not over yet...!

Jacques (continued)

Jacques takes one hit to die, but he's really quick. Flame him when he's on the boxes, otherwise he'll toss them at you.

When he dies, he'll drop four purple gems at a total of 100 gems, and there'll be three more at the exit that will total 75.

From here, it's time to go to the balloonist near the portal to Jacques's domain and head to Gnasty's world.

Gnorc Gnexus

The fodder here are mice (hey, kinda like Hurricos in the sequel).

This isn't a very big world. It's just a circle with three dragon heads blocking off your paths to the later levels. You'll have to complete each one in order to get to Gnasty himself!

Gnorc Cove

Knock the metal barrels back into the guys that throw them to take them out from a distance. Be careful not to charge into the TNT barrels. Flame them instead.

If those big men are carrying TNT barrels, flame them to get the barrels to explode, then flame them again to take them out!

We finally tread the deadly lava-filled mountains of Jacques's terrain...

Dark Passage (continued)

You won't be able to break open that impenetrable metal chest until you find the firecracker. You'll have to make your way through all the areas until you find it, and by the time you do you'll most likely have all the gems (unless you missed one somewhere).

Icy Flight

You'll be taking care of the lighthouses first. From there, you'll be dealing with the helicopters and the trains at the exact same time. You'll finally be dealing with the golden crates afterwards.

You'll be making some hard turns to get some of these things as quickly as possible, so practicing this level a few times is recommended.

Jacques

All of the enemies stand on platforms, waiting for you to get close so they can smake you. Nothing a flame can't take care of. Also, those guys with the clocks that you have to hit to raise some platforms are back, and you'll be using their "services" to roam through this level and find all the treasure before you meet up with Jacques. You'll also be doing this to get one of the two dragons in this level, too.

The key is located in a cave that can only be accessed through a large platform. To climb up it, you'll have to flame the two guys with the clocks near it in quick succession so you can make it to the top. From there, you can just glide on in. The key chest is near the tunnel that leads to Jacques.

angryponcho plays Spyro the Dragon - Part 17 of 21

We're getting closer to the end of the game...

Haunted Towers (continued)

You may be wondering how to get that last dragon. Well, you'll have to go down the Supercharge ramp, go through one of the doors, take a hard left, and jump until you reach a platform with a whirlwind. From there, take the whirlwind and you'll rescue the dragon. From here, you'll be able to get the rest of the gems.

The fairy here has red hair and is wearing yellow (kinda like Zoe from Spyro 2), and when she gives you the Superflame power-up, you'll be able to use it until you exit the level, making all the suits of armor in this area fair game!

Dark Passage

This level is pretty weird.

When the guys with the torches extend their arms, the dogs and turtles turn into ferocious, otherworldly beasts. In their normal forms, the dogs and turtles will try to spit lava rocks at you. As monsters, the dogs will try to eat you, and the turtles are invincible.

The guys with the torches do not drop gems. Take them out if you need to, since they can be slightly annoying. They also respawn after a few seconds.

Lofty Castle (continued)

You'll need to use the supercharge in order to make your way to the end of the level...as well as the rest of the treasure.

Haunted Towers

The sentient suits of armor are indestructible. You'll have to find the fairies that give you the Superflame power-up in order to defeat them. Some armor suits just block your path while others try to hit you with their helmets. Others still just lie there, completely unenchanted.

The Gnorcs with the grenades can hit you more than once pretty quickly if you're not careful. They have a slight delay in their attack, though, as they have to pull the pin with their teeth before tossing it at you.
