Bladedlightning/CaptainVulgarity plays Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions - Part 7 of 11

The Incredible Shrinking Duck

Planet: Amazonius
Type: Dense Jungle
Size: Deceiving
Atmosphere: None, but the food is great!

Marvin has now developed a shrink ray...and Earth is targeted!

After buying your supplies, the shrink ray will hit your ship en route to Amazonius...you're now shrunk! Actually, this is a good thing...you'll now be able to explore the planet.

Section 1

Spiders lunge at you from their webs when you get close, and aphids drop down and move about when you're nearby. The spiders are easy; just shoot up at them when they're climbing back to the ceiling. Hit the Aphids with the Bomb Gun.

The Martians have been replaced with Soldier Ants. Yes, they're actually dressed like U.S. Army soldiers and carry shotguns. Sounds funny until they shoot at you. Same rules with the Martians apply here.

Worms crawl around, and are easily knocked out with the Bomb Gun. That, or you could just jump over them. The lightning bugs shoot actual lightning! Shoot at them from directly underneath to take them out!

Anyway, go left, take out the spider, then leap left to the moving platform. Keep moving all the way to the left until you pick up the Nutty Attack, then take the beanstalk to your right all the way down until you see the Continue Point.

Keep going left and take the next moving platform up. Go left for Orange Juice; go right for cash. When you reach the platform's highest point, go left and go up the beanstalk, taking the fuel can as you go. The first platform to your left has a new enemy - a purple centipede that explodes on sight and sends its body parts out somewhat like grenade shrapnel. Take care of the lightning bug near the top, then go left and take care of the worm and the spider before taking the Anti-Matter Gun.

Go back down the beanstalk and drop left. Go beat down the soldier ant and the spider, then leap left to the next soldier ant. Take care of it and the lightning bug up ahead, then keep going left, going past the worm before dropping down the beanstalk. Go right, take care of the soldier ant, then go back to the left. If you drop to the beanstalk after the next, you'll find three money bags to your right. Go to the top, take the leaf platform, and go right. Go up the next beanstalk.

Take care of the soldier ant and the lightning bug, then go all the way to the right until you reach the beanstalk at the dead end. If you hug the wall and use your jetpack, you'll find an extra life.

Go back to the first beanstalk (the one before the dead end). Go right for fuel after you go all the way up, then go left, climb the next beanstalk all the way up. If you need health, fly to the platform above you, kill the soldier ants and the spiders, and hit up the dead end for Orange Juice. Keep going right from the last leaf of the beanstalk and you'll meet the Queen of the Ant Colony. Shoot her a few times and jetpack or jump-shoot over her when she's diving at you. When she goes off-screen, kill the purple soldier ants at the sides of the screen. Keep doing this until she falls.

A taste of what's to come! (SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY)

TAS Daffy Duck The Marvin Missions SNES in 12:56 by Gunty

Don't worry! You'll see it all in thirteen minutes!

No, the music is not supposed to be like that.

The game's not that hard. Trust me.

Duck Dodgers on Ice

(continued)

Keep going right, go down the ice slides, and walk onto the platform.

Before we continue, though, let's uncover some more secrets now that Bladedlightning has went on and lost all of his lives.

If you stay at ground level and keep going right, you'll reach a dead end with three money bags. When oyu go up the platforms and to the right, you'll see mines moving up and down. If you touch them, they'll blow up. Keep going right, jump up the platforms, take care of the rotored robot and go left...and we're almost back where we were. Also, Bladedlightning just now notices that one Continue Gem he flew past the first time around. -_-'

Anyway, once you're at the platform, jump to the next platform, which takes you up. Jump left, go left, take the next platform, jump right, go right. Mini-boss time!

It's a Martian...whose head becomes de-fleshed after four Blaster shots.

*insert reference to Pretty Boy here*

After a few more shots, the body's gone. It'll start leaping throughout the screen like a runaway electronic pogo stick, so be prepared to run under it. A lot. When it reaches either side of the screen, block. It'll shoot at you five times before jumping around again. Once it's gone, get the cash it drops.

Section 3

There are a lot of barriers here, so be patient.

Go right and jump over the gap. Jetpack up to the ledge above you, then go right. When you see the flying robot to the right of the moving platform, destroy the robot and go up. Keep to the path, and after you drop down, go left. Go up, and keep going right until you see another artificial platform in mid-air. Jump onto it and jump to the left. Kepp going left to get a Freeze Gun, then head back to the right. Follow the path right, and take the first corridor right when you get onto the moving platform to find a Bomb Gun.

Anyway, after taking care of that Martian, leap to the right, go up the artificial platforms and go right to find a Nutty Bomb.

Go back to the left, go further down until you reach the end of the stage. That's all you need to do. Now you have two robots. The Anti-Matter Gun (which you're definitely going to need for the next boss) works well here and keeps you from getting killed - I hope you have a lot of ammo for it, as it'll help you save all your Nutty Bombs for the upcoming level boss.

Boss

Stay to the left at the beginning. Jump over the spark that comes your way and watch out for any cannonballs that drop onto you. Wait for it to perform its laser field between the two arms, then move away from the fireball that follows you and get some shots in. If you're close to death, unleash all of your Nutty Bombs. Just keep jamming on the A button.

After enough Nutty Bombs and Anti-Matter Gun shots, I.Q. High is free!

Bladedlightning/CaptainVulgarity plays Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions - Part 5 of 11

I'LL GET YOU BACK EVIL BOSS

20,000 Martians Under The Sea

(continued)

Boss

Just you, a shallow pool, a jar of Instant Martian pills and Marvin himself.

Shoot upwards and hit Marvin, and don't shoot the jar. Marvin moves faster than the jar, making this easier said than done, and he also shoots down at you.

Pills will still come out of the jar, but they'll come out one at a time rather than three if the jar doesn't shake from blaster impact. The Martians take one hit to kill, but they're still annoying as they fly right into you just like in Section 1.

If you have any Nutty Bombs, use them here. The jar will still shake when you use it, but you won't have to worry about Martians until the Nutty Bomb stops attacking. The Anti-Matter Gun also works well here.

Duck Dodgers On Ice

Planet: Zeus-3
Type: Ice Rings
Size: Really Huge!
Atmosphere: Chillin'

Great...we have to save I.Q. High...on an ice level. Actually, this is the most interesting level in the game.

Section 1

Jetpack to the platform to the right at the beginning to get a Bomb Gun and more fuel, then drop down. The natural rock floors make you slide around when you walk on them, while the artificial ones don't.

The thing with the rotor that moves around shoots two balls of ice both in front of and behind it; luckily, these projectiles have very limited range and can be easily brought down. You'll see them moving back and forth on ceilings at times raining these projectiles down on you, so watch out. Take the platform down to see the first of many electrical barriers you'll see on the planet. Go past it when it's not electrified, then keep going down. The artificial slopes have ice on them, causing you slide them instantly when you land on them. Also, the background here is stunning...hope you paid attention to it despite the jittering on the ROM.

Watch out for the cannons and their cannonballs, then go right. One platform has jetpack fuel, and if you go all the way up from here, you'll find an extra life. After this, go back down and go all the way to the left to continue. If, of course, you jetpack to the cannon that's facing left and is above you, you'll be able to make your way to a Continue Gem.

When you hit the Continue Point, go right. You'll face Marvin again. Shoot up at him while avoiding his lasers. When he swoops at you from ground level, jump over him. (He does this every two passes.) After enough hits, he'll drop five money bags. Grab them quickly.

Section 2

Go right, grab the fuel can, and leap up the platforms. Shoot down the martians (who is now in a winter coat, hat, scarf, boots and sunglasses), then keep going right to get a Freeze Gun. Go left after your way up instead of right here to get to another Continue Gem. Go back and go right, and take care of the Martian.

Go right with the jetpack, go up the platforms, and then fly your way up. You'll also collect a Continue Gem in this little flight area if you hug the left wall.

There is an enemy from Section 1 that you'll now come in better contact with: a smoke ring machine. Destroy it with the Bomb Gun. The helicopter-body thing with the legs can be safely killed from a distance - avoid it and its laser fire. Go left until you hit the Continue Po9nt, then go back to the right. Go back down, go left and take the ice slide. Go right. If you jump over to the next platform on the right, you'll see that robot with the rotor on the ceiling, another of many electric barriers in the stage...and a Three-Way Gun. Grab it, go back to the left, then drop down and hit the Continue Point.

Our undersea adventures continue in this installment!

20,000 Martians Under The Sea

(continued)

If you jump onto the pipe after you walk out, you'll find some cash behind a pufferfish. Go all the way left, then drop all the way to the bottom. Keep going right, and you'll face the mini-boss.

Get directly under the gear in the center and shoot it down before the walls crush you. They won't kill you, but they do cause damage.

Section 3

A maze. Yay.

Go all the way right to find a fuel can, then go back. Go left, then go down the pipe. Go to the right, take the platform, then go right again.

There will be indestructible gears on the floor, with steam flues above them. Both will hurt you, so wait for the steam to stop blowing and jump carefully. If you get hit here, keep walking right and don't stop. You'll go straight through the gears while you're invincible. Go right and drop down the pipe.

Even if you take an alternate route, you'll end up in the next room. Go all the way to the bottom, grabbing the Orange Juice if you need to, and go left. After the continue point, keep going left.

The purple blobs jump around a lot and split into three smaller ones after taking enough damage. Kill it and its split personalities with the Bomb Gun, as it damages them when they're not in the air. In the next room with the mines, go all the way to the left, then face away from the wall, then jump and shoot your way to the platform on the water's surface. This way, in case you do take the air flue after entering this room and lose your balance as you leap from platform to platform, you can get to the last one faster.

Go through the pipe to the right, take care of the blobs and grab the Anti-Matter Gun. Go up, take the platforms, jump over the gears (keep walking left if you get hit), and there will be an Orange Juice waiting for you.

Keep going left, and jump onto the lift. Shoot the walls above you in the side with the flashing light on it to blow them up and keep from getting killed.

Bladedlightning/CaptainVulgarity plays Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions - Part 3 of 11

We switch from fire to water for the second stage. Also, if Daffy is a duck, why can't he float or swim?

20,000 Martians Under The Sea

Planet: Aquarion-4
Type: Marine
Size: So-so
Atmosphere: Muggy, Chance Of Rain

This time around, you're destroying Marvin's undersea lab as well as any chances of an instant Martian army.

Once again, you'll be able to purchase weapons and such at the store. You have a lot more dosh this time, so choose wisely and stock up on the essentials!

Section 1

You'll be walking on top of some dragon-like thing while the water goes up and down. Watch out for the mines as you go. To climb up the walls, jump onto the larger dragon scales.

You'll find a Three-Way gun just before you meet Marvin again. He'll drop his Martian seeds into the water, causing them to turn into Martians that jetpack straight for you, while lightning strikes in the background. Keep moving and avoid the Martians, and you'll soon see the dragon's two heads.

The right one blows you to the left, while the left one spits fire. If you take care of the one on the left first, you'll take down both of them instantly.

After every few shots, both heads will duck down into the water temporarily before they resurface to continue their attack. If you do take down the head on the right first, you'll have an easier time taking the left down from the other end of the screen.

Section 2

I swear, if someone sings "Under The Sea" from The Little Mermaid one more time...

The fish aren't too hard. The hammerhead shark moves up and down as it goes back and forth, and when it sees you it will go for you. The fish with the propeller fins in the back just moves back and forth in a straight line. Get behind it and start blasting. The squid moves in short diagonal spurts, and can be best dealt with using the Three-Way Gun. The pufferfish, though, are the worst. They expand after one shot, and when they're just a few shots away form death, they'll try to run into you and self-destruct. If you can kill them before that happens, you'll get their cash. If they hit you, you won't. Gee, thanks, game.

Shooting in the water pushes you back further than usual, and you can launch yourself higher in the air as well because of it. This will definitely help with getting around in the rest of the level, so be wise with your jetpack fuel...you won't be finding much here, anyway.

The second Martian you see on the right path has a Three-Way Gun, and if you take the top tube below the ground that's below the first floating platform at the beginning, you'll find another Continue Gem.

The submarines have depth charges...and they are deadly. Take them on from the side, as doing it form below usually brings nasty results. You'll find an Anti-Matter Gun afterwards. It's the most powerful (and expensive) gun in the game, and works well against many normal enemies and bosses. Use it wisely.

After the second continue point, go down the tube and go right. Jump-shoot to get another Continue Gem, then go back and go left.

Bladedlightning/CaptainVulgarity plays Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions - Part 2 of 11

The politician rescuing continues in the second half of Planet Magma!

Where There's Duck, There's Fire

(continued)

Section 3

There's a Martian to your left at the beginning; shoot him to get some cash. Regardless of where you go, you'll be doing of lot of falling at the beginning. One of the walls at the beginning has a secret passage to a Three-Way Gun, while another one takes you to another extra life and a Continue Gem. Instead of using your jetpack, jump and shoot at the same time and you can jump higher than normal - enough to grab both of these items. Regardless of which path you take at the start, you'll end up at a continue point and an Orange Juice.

When you drop down, you can get a Nutty Bomb if you can make it to the first platform you see. If you have jetpack fuel, it's a lot easier. The second one takes you to a Bomb Gun. If you make it to the bottom, you can find another Continue Gem in one of the walls.

At the end (signified by the resort wall), two more helmeted Martians hound you. Same strategies apply. If you go through that lava waterfall close to the end, you can still grab the Continue Gem as well as a fuel can and another Electricity Gun.

Boss

Jump over the buzzsaw once you get close, then get under Marvin and shoot him until the buzzsaw stops going forward. When it nears you, jump back over it and repeat.

After enough shots, the buzzsaw becomes a claw. This time, you'll be moving under it when it moves forward. Stay on the ground unless you want to be either cut to ribbons or blasted into duck fricassee.

After some more damage, the claw is a laser blaster. Look to the left so you can block the lasers and get some more shots on Marvin in the meantime. Thankfully, the pattern for this weapon is ridiculously easy, so it'll be over quickly.
