jasonsgroovemachine of LowBiasGaming plays DecapAttack - Part 7 of 7

Here it is: the final stretch! Let's beat Max D. Cap and bring the island back together again!

Eyeland

World 7-1

The level goes from a linear stage to a little bit of a maze, but like all the mazes in the game, it's pretty easy to get through.

You'll be seeing larger, non-breakable statues with interesting looking skulls on them. You can stand on the heads, believe it or not.

World 7-2

It's going to be an interesting way down. Keep kicking your legs so you don't fall into lava (or so you can use the springboard walls to get away from it).

World 7-3

The boss is none other than Max D. Cap. Who else were you expecting?

Avoid his stomp attack and the rocks that come down, and smack in the head repeatedly. His nastiest attack is his fireball that homes in on you. When he stops moving and has his mouth wide open, you know he's about to launch it.

The fireball has homing capabilities, and the only way to get rid of it is to wait it out (and hopefully not get hit, as using the head makes it easier to hit Max from far away). It moves pretty slowly, but it can get pretty annoying.

When he starts changing colors, he'll start firing off two fireballs instead of one. Start using the yellow potions to get rid of him before he becomes much more of a problems.

The lone underwater part of the stage contains the chalice, the last treasure of the game. If you're looking for it, there it is.

After beating Max D. Cap, Chuck staggers home. He collapses at Frank N. Stein's house, where he and his assistant reward Chuck D. Head by making him a human. You've won!

Yeah, we have to have the obligatory ice world, too. Thanks, game.

Last Leg Land

World 6-1

There are two new enemies here: clown hobo penguins that will try to ski into you, and little green guys who stop every few seconds to swing a hammer down. The green guys are a piece of cake to get rid of.

This is a maze level, but it's pretty linear.

The icy parts of these stages are a little slippier than usual.

World 6-2

Yet another linear maze. This time, you see the green guys in greater numbers.

World 6-3

There are a bunch of small fall-away bridges above a lava pit. You'll have to get rid of all the clwon penguins and cross them all to get the magnifying glass, clearing the way to the last world...once you've beaten the boss, of course.

The boss here is a huge monkey. Stand next to him so that you can avoid him more easily when he jumps to another side of the screen or back to the center. When he hangs onto the ceiling, jump to avoid the rocks he spits at you.

...and now we reach the obligatory lava world.

Pumpington

World 5-1

Once again, you're going all the way to the right the whole time.

World 5-2

Yet another auto-scroll level. This time around, you're being chased by a tank. Unlike the totem pole from World 3, this thing can attack with a Xenomorph-like tongue that can hit you if you're standing at the center of the screen, understandably making it the cause of quite a few unwanted deaths.

World 5-3

You'll need the microscope to get out of this world. You'll find it right after the underwater section and the bridge area with the three ducks that comes afterward.

The boss here is a mole. When he peeps out and starts looking around, hit him a few times and avoid the rocks that he throws. More than likely, you'll have to step forward a bit and duck after he looks at you.

If you have the skull, it'll be really, really useful here.

jasonsgroovemachine of LowBiasGaming plays DecapAttack - Part 4 of 7

This is the point in the game where the stages start becoming more linear.

Armington

World 4-1

There's not much new here. At least with this stage, there's only one way to go, and that's straight to the right.

World 4-2

This time around, you're going through an underwater maze.

World 4-3

The boss here is some guy in a clam-like object that floats back and forth across the screen. Attack him as soon as he opens the other half, attack his head and take out the enemies that he fire out of his noggin. After enough damage, he'll change color, indicating that he is near death.

The secret level is in the main underwater section. When you start seeing the breakable blocks to your right, go left instead. You'll be able to find it easily by following the path to the end.

The game starts throwing in some more enemies as well as an interesting surprise in the first stage. Read on!

Tibuland

World 3-1

No sooner do you start this stage does a giant totem pole chase after you, eating away at anything in its path...including you if you're not careful!

The first statue in the stage has an enemy. The second one has a skull.

If you can get to the platform near the end, you can get a much-needed heart to replenish some of your health if you need it.

World 3-2

The yellow blobs attack you by extending their eyes forward. If you can knock off the shell on its back by attacking it, you can stand on the yellow blob and use it as a platform as it moves. You can also attack it a second time.

Despite their foreboding appearance, nothing happens when you stand on the skull and crossbones platforms.

The green monsters with the eye in its mouth makes an appearance at the end, and it takes two hits to bring down.

World 3-3

The boss here is a green guy on a geyser. When he stops, he'll spin his head around and spit fireballs everywhere. These fireballs do home in on your current position and drop down when you're under them, so move away as soon as they drop. Keep whacking him in the face as he moves around.

The red fish will approach you if you're close enough...even if you're on dry land!

There is an underwater maze somewhere in the level. Find it, then look around for a statue that contains a green flask. You'll have to collect this before you can leave for the next world.

jasonsgroovemachine of LowBiasGaming plays DecapAttack - Part 2 of 7

This time around, you'll be swimming for the first time, taking on another set of enemies.

El Beau Island

World 2-1

Some statues will contain enemies when you break them, so be careful. THey'll usually be little purple guys wearing ghost sheets who jump and fly back and forth.

You'll see water for the first time in the game here, and it brings its own enemies into the fray: otters and skeleton fish. You can swim in it, thankfully.

The geysers shoot steam that will push you up. They stop shooting steam up briefly, so if you need to jump over them, you'll have to be quick.

The red rods can be climbed on and rocked back and forth. Do that, then jump in the direction you want to jump to get some extra leverage.

World 2-2

You'll see breakable blocks that can be attacked at the start, as well as the jellyfish. They will quickly approach you when you get close enough, so be ready to attack.

If a mini-Chuck pops out of a statue after you break it, grab him before he runs away! You'll get an extra life for your efforts.

You'll have to traverse some platforms that either go up or down, all while crossing a large pool of lava near the end. Be patient, and if you need to, use the birds as a platform.

World 2-3

The area here is very linear, but it does get narrow.

Search high and low for the statues. One of them below the lava pool at the beginning contains a book. which you'll need to collect for this level.

You could go straight to the end, but if you go right, you'll face the boss. The boss here is a giant frog that jumps around and shoots smaller frogs out of its body. Don't stand too close, because you'll either be pounced on by the giant frog or hit by one of the smaller frogs that it launches.

If you have the skull, you'll be able to do a lot of damage from a distance. Otherwise, get one or two hits in, then move away.

The world has been scattered, and Max D. Cap has returned from the underworld to conquer the real world!

Max D. Cap has risen from the underworld to conquer the above world! Chuck D. Head, a mummy created by Frank N. Stein, is the only who can stop him from completely invading!

The game is a Westernization of Magical Hat no Buttobi Tabo! Daiboken, which is based on the anime series Magical Hat. Since the license for the anime was not obtained for the rest of the world, the game was completely changed when it was ported over to the West, hence why the theme is completely unlike anything else from Vic Tokai...and it's slightly easier compared to its Japanese counterpart, as you have a health bar instead of one hit deaths.

Abdomainland

World 1-1

You are Chuck D. Head. You're a mummy with eyes in his torso, because he has no head. He attacks by expanding his torso forward...and it looks pretty weird at first, but you get used to it.

Attacking the statues to the left of where you start will give you a skull. Pick it up, and you can throw it like a boomerang. When you throw it, it will arc downward and land on the floor, but will return to you regardless of where it goes or where it lands.

Throughout the game, you'll be attacking statues to find items. Pressing the A button will take you to the item screen. Here, you can see what items you have and also buy some items. The items are as follows:

Xenon (red potion): Causes an earthquake that destroys all enemies.

Swill (blue potion): This acts as a shield that protects you.

Trioxy (yellow potion): This lets you use a powerful ball of light as a weapon.

Freeiz (green potion): Freezes all on-screen enemies.

Claxy (double test tube): Makes you faster and increases your jump height.

OozeO2 (orange potion): Increases the strength and range of your torso attack.

Coins: Let you buy items. Find them in statues.

You can also jump on enemies to stun them. Jump on them multiple times to bury them into the ground. If you keep pressing the jump button in mid-air, you can kick your feet over and over to glide long distances.

The game looks and controls similarly to Kid Kool and Psycho Fox. The further you go with stopping, the faster you run.

You start out with up to three hearts, and you can start out with less by changing that in the options menu. Each heart is two hits, and finding a heart in a statue will let you replenish one hit.

There are all sorts of bad guys here, such as werewolves, blackbirds and guys that shoot arrows at you.

If you fall in lava, you'll die instantly, so keep running across those breakaway bridges.

The blocks with the arrows pointing up act as springboards. Step on them to get launched upwards.

The clouds here act as platforms.

World 1-2

You'll be climbing uphill here. You can stand on the trees if you need a boost to where you want to go.

We have new left arrow and right arrow tiles that launch you left and right, much like the up arrows that work as springboards. To scale these walls, hold the D-Pad in the direction they launch you and keep pressing the jump button to float.

World 1-3

Go underneath the start to the lower-right corner of the level. You'll find a strange blue potion, and if you pick it up, a fanfare will play. Turns out there are some items in the game that Dr. Frank N. Stein wants you to pick up throughout the game, and you're required to pick them up if you want to continue with the game.

From there, make your way to the left to face the boss.

The boss here is a witch doctor. You can stand on his head until he throws the mask that he wears, which you'll definitely want to avoid. He'll throw it straight at you at first, but he'll also throw it in a figure eight pattern.

When you beat the boss, you'll be able to go left and clear Abdomainland.

Bonus Stage

At the end of every world, you'll take on a bonus stage. You can use one coin to place one Chuck on a path. Provided that you have enough coins, you can place a Chuck on every path if you desire. This is no different from the bonus areas in Super Mario Land 2 or Kid Dracula. If any of the Chucks see a stone bridge, they have to cross it no matter what.

When they reach the end of the path, you'll come across another path that scrolls endlessly. Stop it with the press of a button, and the Chucks you placed will make their way to whatever item is at the end. Holes give you nothing. The second path works just like the first one. The machine at the left is a one-up, and the number it stops on when you stop the second path dictates how many lives you'll get from it.

When you beat one of the levels, it will be placed back on its rightful spot on the map.
