Level 11

Password: SONG

Amazingly, you don't have to use all the pieces to get through this stage.

When you complete this puzzle, you'll get a message from Dr. P saying that there are 2,336 different configurations in the next stage.

Level 12

Password: LOVE

In this stage, you'll get a weirdly-shaped piece with parts that stick out in three directions. (I call it "Faucet" because it looks like a faucet at the side of a building that you connect a garden hose to if you rotate it to go a certain way.)

The buildings for this and future levels will have new designs, and you'll also get new music here. At least this game has different songs, unlike Ka-Blooey.

You'll then get told by Dr. P that you have 23 different shapes to work with. This is the amount of levels that you have left, not the amount of pieces that you have (which is twelve).

Level 13

Password: JUMP

At this rate, you won't get any more new pieces between levels, so get used to having twelve puzzle pieces to play around with.

Level 14

Password: CORE

Unlike other levels, you'll need to use all the puzzle pieces to fill up the playfields from this point on.

One puzzle game to another! Unlike Ka-Blooey, however, this one was definitely different and even more difficult. It is, by no means, however, a horrible game. Far from it. But...either you're good at this kind of puzzle game, or you'll be hitting GameFAQs at every possible opportunity.

Daedalian Opus is a game that has you placing shapes in a playfield so that they all fit perfectly into it. The game is just you, the playfield, the pieces and trial and error, and while that is also a good thing, it can also be a bad thing, as there is no hint system to help you out and you're left entirely to your own devices, making the premise of the game and the whole appeal of it a double-edged sword. It is, however, a nice fit for the Game Boy, as it is a very good way of staying busy on the go, and while this game could have been on NES, it is on Game Boy entirely for that purpose-driven reason.

The game is named after Daedalus, who is (supposedly) the son of Icarus (and also the guy who told him not to fly too close to the sun with the wings made out of wax, and we all know how that turned out) and the man who made the Labyrinth of Crete, which imprisoned the Minotaur.

The D-Pad moves the cursor, B rotates the pieces, and A selects and places. Select flips pieces vertically, while Start flips pieces horizontally. Pressing A and B at the same time resets all pieces to their default positions.

When you start the game, an old man named Dr. P will tell you that you'll be solving a bunch of puzzles. Press A to go through dialogue. You'll start with three pieces, but you'll get more along the way until you end up with twelve altogether.

You'll be on a map screen where you will go from one level to another. Left and Right move the little man around, and Up enters the doorway to the next level. On these screens, a U.F.O. will reveal the password for the level you've just reached, and you also have a chance to get a new piece from the fairy at the bridge that materializes between the levels as you move to the right. 

Level 1

You start out with three shapes: an L shape (which I call "Big L" or "L Train"), a T shape (which I call "Mr. T") and a line with a square sticking out (which I call "Nightstick" or "Boss Man's Nightstick"). You'll need to flip the L-shaped piece vertically (or the "Nightstick" piece) with Select to win, depending on where you place the T shape.

When you complete a level, you'll get a message saying "Good." Press A to toggle this message so you can see your completed puzzle (and also copy it down on graph paper if you want), and press Start to head to the next level.

Level 2

Password: KING

You'll get a small square with a small notch sticking out (which I call "Utah" after the state of Utah).

Level 3

Password: EASY

You'll get a straight-line shaped piece (which I call "Long Boi") here. You'll have to use 

Also, you won't be using all the pieces here, as "Mr. T." won't fit at all in the thin box.

Level 4

Password: NICE

You'll get an L-shaped piece (which I call "Protractor") here.

Level 5

Password: BORN

You'll get a U-shaped piece (which I call "Handle" here.

Level 6

You'll get a long S-shaped piece (which I call "Lightning Bolt") here.

Level 7

You'll get a cross-shaped piece (which I call "Cross") here. Ironically, you don't use it in this puzzle.

Level 8

You won't get a new piece here, but at this point, you should have an idea of how this game goes.

Level 9

Password: CITY

You'll get a zig-zag shape (which I call "Zig-Zag" and later "Dolph Ziggler") here. Ironically, you won't use this new shape in this level, which has a playfield shaped like something other than a simple rectangle or square here. You also won't be using all the pieces here, either.

Level 10

Password: MEGA

You'll get a piece shaped more like an "S" (which I call "Crankshaft" and later "Sunsoft S") here. You won't be using all of the pieces here.

The final level of the game is the nastiest of all, but if you can beat it, you beat the game.

Level 126

Enter the "right" teleporter. Enter the next teleporter. Place the small bomb on the center left tile, the medium bomb on the center tile and the bomb on the center right tile. Go across the ice to detonate the lone small bomb, then go back. Detonate the small bomb on the slot tiles and move left. Enter the teleporter. Go to the switch and hit it. Go to the small bomb in the lower left corner and detonate it, then move back up. Detonate the small bomb between the swell bomb and the mine when the swell bomb is at medium, then move right. Go right and detonate the small bomb at the cracked tiles when the swell bomb is at medium, then move up. Hit the switch, move left, detonate the small bomb and move right. Move up, detonate the small bomb when the swell bomb is small, then enter the teleporter. Detonate the small bombs and hit the switch on the way to the "left" teleporter. Enter the "left" teleporter. Move the medium bomb on the slot tiles to the left tile. Hit the nearby switch. Detonate the lone small bomb near the teleporter, then move up. Detonate the medium bomb near the teleporter and enter the teleporter. Move down, then hit the switch twice. Detonate the two small bombs on the loop before the cracked tile, then move the small bomb on the slot tiles up. Detonate that small when the swell bomb is at medium and move left. Move left across the ice. Detonate the small bombs on the left side of the loop, then detonate the small bomb on the rivet tile at the far right. Hit the switch, then detonate the other small bomb on the rivet tile. Move right, hit the newly-spawned switch to the left near the start, then detonate the small bomb.

Level 127

Hit the switch south of where you start. Hear the newly-spawned switch afterward. Detonate the nearby small bomb, then move left. Hit the first switch, then enter the teleporter. Go back to the small bomb near the teleporter, detonate it, then enter the teleporter. Move right to the switch and hit it, then place the newly-spawned large bomb on the top center slot tile. Go to and hit the switch further to the right, then place the newly-spawned small bomb on the top right slot tile. Detonate the small bomb and move left. Detonate the small bomb near the mine that has just detonated, then loop back to the bombs at the left and detonate the right-most small bomb. Move down, then right across the ice. Detonate the small bomb bear the mine. Take the upper road to the right, then hit the switch. Move the medium bomb on the slot tiles to the left, detonate the upper small bomb, then move left. Detonate the small bomb, then move up, left, then down, and go to and hit the switch. Go right and detonate the small bomb, then go right to the slot tiles. Place the large bomb on the top center tile, move right, place the large bomb on the top tile, move right, then place the medium bomb on the top tile and the small bomb south of it. Detonate the small bomb and move down. Go right to the small bomb, detonate it, then move up, left and then up. Detonate the small bomb, then go to the switch and hit it so the first enemy is destroyed. Hit the next switch, detonate the small bomb, hit the third switch, and be quick to get rid of the ball enemy. Detonate the small bomb north of the third switch. Detonate the small bomb south of the mine, then move down. Detonate the remaining small bomb.

Level 128

Go far to the right and enter the far right teleporter. Go left, detonate the small bomb, then hit the switch and move up into the nearby teleporter. Detonate the small bomb and go left. Go right, hit the upper switch, and go to the slot tiles. Move the medium bombs to the bottom-most tile, the lower left tile on the "square," and the upper left tile on the "square." Hit the nearby switch. Hit the new switch back at the start, send the red guy to the mine. Hit the switch at the start again, then send the red guy to the small bomb on the slot tiles. Hit the start switch, then take the red guy right to the lower switch, hit the switch and enter the teleporter. Send the red guy into the small bomb when he re-appears. Enter the teleporter at the start, then hit the nearby switch and enter the nearby teleporter. Hit the start switch and send the red guy into the teleporter at the start, then send the red guy into the mine to the right near the switch. Detonate both of the medium bombs north of the switch with red guys; detonate the one on the right first followed by the one on the left. Hit the switch at the start, then send the red guy into the start teleporter and then into the left-most medium bomb at the slot tiles further to the south. Hit the start switch, then send the red guy into the starting teleporter and into the lone mine. Hit the start switch and send the red guy through the starting teleporter and across the ice to the small bomb. Hit the start switch, then send the red guy into the starting teleporter and into the nearby bomb. Hit the starting switch, then send the red guy into the nearby medium bomb.

Level 129

Detonate the medium bomb at the start, then enter the nearby teleporter. Move the small bomb all the way to the right to the lower right tile, with a medium bomb to the lower left tile in the "square" and a large bomb in the upper right tile. Back at the "square" to the left, there should be a medium bomb in the upper left tile and a small bomb in the upper right tile. Detonate the "left square's" small bomb, then move right, place the medium across from the mine and place a small bomb to the right to it. Detonate the small bomb and move right. Place the large bomb in the lower right tile of the "square," detonate it and enter the teleporter. Get to the red guy and send the red guy to the mine at the left. Detonate the small bomb where the mine was. Hit the nearby switch, then hit the first and second switches at the right. Detonate the small bomb near the second switch, then hit the second and third switches at the right. Take the cracked tile path to the left, then detonate the small bomb to the right of the ice. (It's the one to the left of the medium bomb.) Move left, detonate the small bomb, move down to and hit the nearby switch, detonate the small bomb, then loop around on the ice, move up on the cracked tile and enter the teleporter. Move right and enter the teleporter. Move up, then left, then to the slot tiles. Place the medium bomb on the bottom tile and the small bomb north of it, then detonate the small bomb, move left and loop around from the left. Go to the slot tiles on the right. Place the medium bomb on the top tile and small bomb south of it. Detonate the small bomb, move down, then loop around from the right. Detonate the small bomb near the mine at the bottom and move up. Detonate the small bomb in the right bomb pile, then detonate the small bomb in the left bomb pile. Go to the teleporter to the north across from the cracked tile. Hit the third switch, then move downwards to the loop. Detonate the bombs anti/counter-clockwise from the upper left tile. Go back to and enter the nearby teleporter. Detonate the small aerial bombs, then enter the nearby teleporter. Detonate the right small bomb in the pair of small bombs, then move right across the cracked and ice tiles. After this, you can go nuts with the switch and the red and destroy all of the mines. (Just be careful doing it, as this is the last time you'll have fun before the game becomes anything but.)

Level 130

This is the worst level in the game. You'll need a very good route and some good speed if you want to destroy all 42 bombs (some are mines) in this level. This isn't the perfect route, nor it is the only route. It is, however, a route. Special thanks to Taramoor Plays for figuring this out so I didn't have to. This took two tries for me, and once you beat this level, you beat the game. Here is the route from the start:

Level 121

Move the medium bombs on the east slot tiles up one. Move the medium bomb on the north slot tiles right one. Move the medium bomb on the west slot tiles down one. Move the small bombs on sout slot tiles right one. (Step on the cracked tiles as you do this.) Detonate the small bomb on middle tile, then move down. Enter the teleporter. Move the medium bomb on slot tiles to the lower left corner, place the small bomb right of the medium bomb. Move the red guy to the small mine east of the slot tiles. Detonate the small bomb on the slot tiles. Detonate the medium bomb near the temple, then move down. Go to the slot tiles near the ice. Place the small bomb on the north tile, them place the medium bomb south of the small bomb. Detonate the small bomb, loop around to where the mine was. Hit both switches. Send the red guy to "south" mine. Hit the "north" switch. Send the red guy to the "west" mine. Hit the "north" switch and the "south" switch, then send the red guy to the switch near the medium aerial bomb. Hit the switch. Send the red guy into the water. Hit the "north" and "south" switches again, then detonate the small bomb near the small aerial bomb and move down. Detonate the small aerial bomb, then move down. Enter the teleporter. Send the red guy to the slot tiles in the lower left corner and detonate the bombs. Go to the small bomb near the "north" switch and detonate it. Detonate the small bomb north of the medium bomb. Detonate the small bomb near the teleporter. Enter the teleporter. Detonate the small bomb and move left.

Level 122

Hit the switch on the far left. Detonate the small bomb in the upper left corner. Move the medium bombs to the top center, center and bottom-most slots. Detonate the small bomb and move left. Hit the far left switch. Hit the "south ice" switch (which is south of the pair of ice tiles). Go to the right switch. Move the large aerial bomb on the slot tiles to the top center slot. Go back to the small aerial bomb, detonate it and move left. Hit the "north ice" switch (which is north of the pair of ice tiles). Hit the right switch. Detonate the small bomb and move down. Take the lower path to the right, go down, detonate the small bomb, then go left and up. Head to the upper right corner and go to the lower right corner from there, detonate the small bomb and move up. Head back to the upper right corner, detonate the small bomb on the rivet tile and move left. Head back to the start, detonate the small bomb and move left. The tiles spell "LISA."

Level 123

Hit the switch at the start. Detonate the small bomb and move down or left. Hit the switch at the start again. Detonate the small bomb and move right. Head to the small aerial bomb surrounded by ice tiles, then move left. As you avoid enemies, detonate the small bomb to the south followed by the small bomb to the west. Head back to the small aerial bomb surrounded by ice tiles and detonate it, then move up. Hit the upper right switch to change the red guy to a blue guy. Take the blue guy to the mine to the south near the lower right corner. Re-summon the blue guy with the upper right switch, then hit the switch near the blue guy. Take the blue guy to the switch on the lower right corner and hit the switch, then take the blue guy to the mine in the lower left corner. Hit the "blue guy" switch again for a cracked tile. Detonate the nearby small bomb and move left. Move down across the ice, detonate the small bomb, then move left. Head to the small bomb in the lower right corner, detonate it and move left. Detonate the small bomb to the left and move left. Loop around to the final small bomb, detonate it and move up.

Level 124

Hit the switch near the start. Move the small bomb to the upper left slot tile, move the medium bomb to the lower left slot tile. Go north, move the small bomb on the slot tiles near the teleporter one tile up. Detonate the small bomb near the starting slot tiles and move down. Detonate the small bomb on upper left slot tile, then move left. Detonate the small bomb in lower left corner and move up. Detonate the small bomb near the teleporter, move up and hit the switch. Loop around, detonate the small bomb on the slot tiles and move left. Detonate the swell bomb when it is at medium, then enter the teleporter. Hit the lower right switch, the lower left switch and the upper right switch, in that order. Enter the nearby teleporter. Hit the switch to turn the nearby medium bomb into a small bomb. Detonate the small bomb near the swell bomb when the swell bomb is at medium, then move up. Hit both switches in the upper right corner. Move the small bomb on the slot tiles to "slot tile 4." Hit the switch near "slot tile 1," move the medium bomb to "slot tile 3." Hit the "slot tile 1" switch again, move the small bomb to "slot tile 2." Hit the "slot tile 1" switch again, and make sure the medium bomb is on "slot tile 1." Detonate the small bomb on "slot tile 2" and move down. Hit the "right" switch, then hit the "left" switch. Move the small bomb on slot tiles to the upper left slot tile, move the medium bomb to the upper right slot tile. Detonate the small bomb on the upper left tile, then move left. Move to the "right" switch, and move to and detonate the small bomb surrounded by ice tiles - without using the cracked tiles - and move down. Detonate the small bomb near the medium bomb and move down. Hit the "center" switch. Detonate the small bomb on the right, then move up.

Level 125

Detonate the bomb in the lower left corner. Go back to the upper left corner. Place the large bomb in the middle slot tile, head to the right and watch for enemies. At the next set of slot tiles, place the medium bomb in the middle tile. Place the medium bomb in the upper right slot tiles in the upper right corner. Hit the far right switch, then move one small bomb to the two small mines and move another small bomb to the bottom between the small mine and the ice tile. Detonate the "bottom" small bomb and get rid of the spinning enemy, then detonate the small bomb near the two mines and move to the left. Hit the switch left of the medium aerial bomb, then hit the switch right of that. Detonate the newly-spawned small bomb, then hit the nearby switch that is to the left. Go back to the start and go right across the ice, hit the nearby switch and go back, then travel across the cracked tiles to the switch on the other side and hit the switch. Move up to the small bomb on the rivet tile and detonate it, move down, move back up, then move right to the small bomb near the other bombs, move downward and hit the remaining switch that is in the "up" position. Detonate the newly-spawned small bomb near the medium aerial bomb and move up. Detonate the small bomb near the other bombs and move down. The tiles spell "CLAR."
