Classic Game Room had a review for Barney's Hide and Seek Game, but YouTube forced them to remove it because YouTube is butt. So you get the Gentleman's Duel between Jack Gallagher vs. Ariya Daivari, because the soundtrack for that game is nothing to write home about and because "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher is awesome.
Part nostalgia-bomb, part note-taking and part FAQ, what started in GameTrailers as a video game blog is now on Blogger. This blog is a look back at video games, both popular and obscure, from the video game industry's infancy all the way to the previous console generation.

Jack Gallagher vs. Ariya Daivari in a Gentlemen's Duel

Kikoskia plays Barney's Hide and Seek Game - Part 2 of 2
How can Barney breathe underwater? How can these kids breathe underwater?!?
The third level takes place under the sea, which gives us the opportunity to play with sea creatures and...hug an octopus. It's bad enough you hugged the bear, Barney. I'm pretty sure that octopus would choke all the somehow-existent breath out of you.
You can also ride on sea turtles to zoom from one part of the stage to the other.
The fourth level is on the farm. If you ever want to interact with farm animals in a children's game, this is it.
This is the last level. After this, you get the ending.

Kikoskia plays Barney's Hide and Seek Game - Part 1 of 2
Barney playing Hide and Seek? This was a game?!?
The game is very, very simple and rudimentary. You play as Barney the Dinosaur, and you have to look for all your friends and all the objects. There are five of each, and even if you make it to the end without everything, you don't get penalized for what you miss. This is a children's game, after all.
You have buttons for jumping, playing and interacting with objects. Sure, you can find friends and toys with them, but you can also interact with objects using Barney's imagination power, such as causing a bird's egg to hatch or feeding a bunny a carrot.
This game also has a lot of digitized speech for a Genesis/Mega Drive game. According to Wikipedia, there are over 100 words and 200 phrases recorded by Bob West, who also voiced Barney on the television show. This is almost unheard of from 1993, when the game came out, as most voice acting from that time were starting to be used in adventure games on DOS such as King's Quest V...but this was rather ambitious for the Genesis/Mega Drive, which had been around in Japan since 1988 and came out in America the following year.
If you find a present, open it. These presents will contain the five objects. As for the kids, they're half-visible behind certain things, making this the easiest game of Hide and Seek in the world.
In every world, there is a big present. You don't have to find it, but if you do, you'll get a pretty nice surprise, like fireworks or seahorses.
You cannot kill yourself, regardless of how hard you try to do so. If you try to fall off the edge of a cliff, Barney refuses to let you do that unless there's a platform nearby, like a cloud or a log.
Also, this game is sentient. If you leave it running, the game actually takes you to one of your objectives by automatically taking control of Barney. I kid you not.
The first two levels are the forest and Music Town. The forest has a lot of plants and animals that you can interact with, and you can even hug a bear at the end. There's even a log ride to the left of the start. Music Town contains a lot of musical instruments, so you get to hear the YM2814 sound chip at very simple work.

Doctor Disastrous plays Vice: Project Doom - Part 5 of 5
Last call for alcohol here. We finally find out who the mastermind behind all of this is...
Stage 11 (continued)
For the beginning of the second section, be prepared to run with your head down (Down-Left/Down-Right) so that you can take less damage as you make your way to the end of the first part.
The second section really pulls out all the stops. A lot of enemies will be thrown at you here, and they all come from previous stages of the game.
If you get hit by the leaping red ninjas or their projectiles between the lone break-away platforms, just let yourself fall back to the platforms so you can get back to where you were. Hope you have a couple of lives for this, because you're going to need them here.
When you make it to the padded door at the end, you'll finally meet Damian Hawk, the guy in the intro. He hides in the shadows as he talks to you, and he has awaited your return. Obviously, Hart doesn't believe a word Hawke says when he says he provides products necessary for survival. You then find out that Damian Hawk, who is an older version of Hart. Turns out...Hart's one of the aliens, and he's a doll created to keep BEDA Corporation profitable forever. If Hawke dies, Hart takes over BEDA, followed by the capsule clone in case Hart dies. Hart wants no part of this, and Hawke has no choice but to do away with him.
Not surprisingly, Hawke is just a silver palette swap of Hart. Hawke jumps around (and he gets some major air compared to you) then shoots his gun at you. Duck as soon as he lands and shoot back, which allows you to duck his shots. If you're ducking when he lands, Hawke will automatically duck when he lands before he shoots at you. Hawke's shots also go further than yours, which can be pretty bad at times. If you get too close, he'll hit you with a laser whip of his own.
When you beat Hawke, you'll have to battle him again. This time, he has a much bigger humanoid form. Hawke will jump around a few times before dropping straight down and shooting crescent beams at both sides of the screen. Stay under the first two and jump over the third, then throw a grenade at Hawke's head. If you do it right, the grenade should do two blocks' worth of damage to him. If you run out of grenades, you'll have to rely on your gun - which means you're going to have to get closer to do damage - until the game decides to throw you a bone and give you a few more out of nowhere much like it did with the gun during the shooting segments.
When you beat Hawke's second form, you've done it! You've won! Enjoy the ending that hints at a sequel that was never developed!
At the end of the vid is the debug menu. Hold A and reset the console, then press A or B on Controller 2 to bring up the menu. Use the two buttons to switch between the sound test and the level select.
Doctor Disastrous plays Vice: Project Doom - Part 4 of 5
We've made it to the BEDA Corporation headquarters...and it's about to get pretty hard.
Stage 9
Lots of aliens here. Some look like facehuggers that rise from the floor to shoot at you, and others are beasts that leap at you. The second section looks like something straight out of Contra. You have flames, regenerating vines, guys with huge snake tails that move back and forth and blocks that break under your weight.
For the boss, stand on the left edge of the left platform and face the other way, then keep striking with the laser whip. The blobs that leap around on the floor won't be able to get you.
When you beat the boss, you'll find that this monstrosity was really Christy, who transforms back into a human. Not surprisingly, she dies...but not before mentioning BEDA Corporation. Hart then finds a clone of himself in a tube,
Stage 10
It's another driving section. All the enemies from Stage 1 are here, plus a few new obstacles such as enemies that bounce off the barricades to make getting around tougher and vine-like barricades that you have to shoot out of the way. Keep on shooting and don't go too fast.
The boss here is some sort of centipede. Stay on the move and avoid its firepower, and watch for when the boss stops so you can avoid the rings it shoots out.
When you beat this stage, you'll be at BEDA Corporation's tower.
Stage 11
The first section is a shooting section. This is pretty short, but be on your guard and watch out for any attacking enemies, especially the ones that will be right in front of you.

Japanese commercial for Gun-Dec/Vice: Project Doom
Can you believe there's a 15-second commercial for this game in Japan? And that is features at least one Western actor to make it look like a mid-to-late-1980s action movie straight out of America?
