ProtonJonSA plays Ninja Gaiden 2 - Act 1

We finally cover the sequel! Time to see what Numero Dos has to offer!

Act 1

The most interesting addition to the sequel is the fact that you can climb on the walls regardless of whether there's a ladder there or not.

Instead of going up to 99 Ninjistu, you have a limit of how much Ninjitsu power you can carry at any specific time. You start with a limit of 40.

A new power-up for this game is the Shadow Clone, which is a red, flashing clone of Ryu Hayabusa. The icon for it is a red picture of Ryu. You can have up to two, and they follow you from behind and follow your movements exactly. They slash when you slash and use Ninjitsu powers when you use them, so you can hit enemies that are either above, below or behind you. It's really nice.

It should be noted that the Act I boss from the last game is now a normal enemy. You'll see a few other bosses get downgraded to normal enemies, too. Ashtar must not be very impressed...

Unlike the last game, orange pick-ups now do more. Orange Ninjitsu ammo now fully recharges your Ninjitsu energy.

The boss here is really simple. Slash him a few times, and when he nears the center of the screen, that's your cue to run to the wall and jump into it to latch on, so he won't run you over. He's dead simple.

In the cutscene, Ryu meets some guy with blonde hair and sunglasses. He tells you to head to the Tower of Lahja, and you'll also find out he knows Irene Lew. He then shoots the boss when he tries to get up behind your back.
