PrinceWatercress plays Wolfchild (Super NES) - Stage 2 of 5

Have I mentioned that this game has some good music? Because it has good music.

Stage 2: Dense Jungle

Start off by dropping down. The blue pods, when destroyed, can contain power-ups. The gold orbs are worth more than the silver orbs. Just like those orbs, these come in four sizes with the smallest being worth 2,000 points and the largest being worth 4,000.

The white projectile icon gives you big fireballs. You'll have 30 shots worth of destructive firepower that is bigger than your standard projectile and can go through enemies.

Be careful on the way down the slope at the beginning, as the orange cone-shaped thing that pops in and out is can do a little bit of damage. Thankfully, you can kill them with the fireballs.

You'll meet flowers that will rise out of the ground and shoot seeds upwards like mortar shots, robots that fire at you from a distance, and reptilian-looking creatures that will roll towards you.

There is a hidden wall some time after the start if you know where to look. Leap left into the wall and you'll get some points, the S for "BONUS" and a smart bomb. Smart bombs are balls with a purple line in the middle. There is also another one near the end which leads to one of the "EXTRA" letters and a ton of points. Be sure to explore where you can; you never know what you might find.

The small, yellow angled spikes are a claw that will attack you. It will snatch at you once to do a little bit of damage and then leave. The green spikes are weird, however. You can walk through them without taking any damage whatsoever, but if you jump onto them, you will get hurt.

There are robots that act as platforms that can take you up walls. If they short out, you'll want to jump off of them immediately to some more solid ground nearby, as they will be falling down.

The "EXT" icon adds one unit to your maximum health.

The square with the arrow pointing down is a continue point.

The orb with the lightning around gives you a barrier that lasts for a short amount of time.

If you take too much damage, you will be knocked back to human form, and you will have to look for more energy to replenish your health and get back into werewolf form. If you have any weapon energy, you will lose it all, which sucks, since those weapons are pretty good and they all share the same pool of energy.

The white blade icon lets you shoot out blade-like projectiles that are slightly more powerful than your normal ones and arc downwards when shot forwards, allowing you to hit low-lying enemies.

The green plants that look like a collection of balls will explode and shoot out two homing missiles if you get too close, so watch out.

The boss here is a robot lizard humanoid. If you're in werewolf, this is easy. Follow him clockwise around the room as he teleports, firing once at him when you see him. Be sure not to be too far away as his shots are angled downwards towards you. If you're in human form, stay close and punch him as you follow him around. The best place to do this is at the far left side of the arena, at the edge of the platform. There, you can jump up and simply punch the boss. Thankfully, this boss isn't too difficult once you get used to his movement and firing patterns.
