Code Name Viper - The OST

Non-playlist version, with echo and reverb.

Playlist version, without echo and reverb.

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 8

So Commander Jones of Special Mission was behind all this? Well, crap.

Area 8

If you see a black line in the middle of a brick, there's a door nearby. Yeah, I know they're impossible to see, too.

There are no hostages in this area, but you still want to check all the doors for ammo.

Watch out near the statues. Lighting will strike the heads of the statues and cause debris to rain down on you. If you can get in front of the statue in time, the debris won't be able to reach you.

The black guys, the sea-green guys and the peach snipers are exclusive to this level. They'll really shoot you on sight (they can also shoot downwards), so see if you can get the drop on them.

When you make it to the top of the house, you'll finally meet Commander Jones. Take him out before he does the same to you! When you kill him, you'll get the password to the final boss, if you want to fight him.

Well, the battle was won...but the war continues on solo, as, well...I'd rather let you see the ending. It's definitely not the whole "you save the world and get noticed for it" deal you've probably expected.

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 7

We finally complete the note!

Area 7

The conveyor belts can push you in the direction that they're going in quite a hurry, so stay on your toes as you shoot down all the bad guys and leap over spikes...which are instant death.

Those crushing platforms in the floor can hurt you if they send you into the ceiling, so wait for them to come down before continuing.

You'll also have to deal with steel girders dropping from the sky. Wait for them to drop down after hitting the floor before you move on, because those things are big.

The commando with the grenade is in the last door of the area.

When you complete this area, you'll complete the note. You'll finally find out Commander Jones, who sent you on this mission, is the one coordinating the whole thing!

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 6

So, there is a ringleader in all of this.

Area 6

Look for those rounded cyan-colored edges while you're looking at the wall. Those will help signify where all the doors are.

To go up the elevators, just enter them like you would the doors.

Watch out for the electricity that runs back and forth across some of the floors. If there are any doors nearby, those will help you hide away from it until it passes.

When you see more than one elevator on screen, keep going and enter the first door you see. That's the operative with the grenade. From there, go all the way to the right and take the last elevator up, then go into the door to the right. You'll get another hit point.

When you look at the note once you beat this stage, there will be a few new questions: who are they supplying drugs to in order to coordinate the entire plan, and where is his home? You'll get another password, too.

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 5

The game now throws some real enemies and obstacles at us at this point.

Area 5

Be very careful as you make that jumps before the whole jail part, because that's where you'll start seeing the zombie-like guys that run around and leap at you. They can definitely clear the jumps with less difficulty than you, so watch the bars in the background!

You'll have to leap at the right time to get past all those drops of acid. Run past those things than run on the tracks on the wall and stop every few seconds to shoot gas at you.

When you're done here, you'll notice that the note is starting to make sense...

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 4

We make some real progress on the note this time around.

Area 4

Some of the statues here will move back and forth in a staggered fashion. Stay out of their way, since bullets don't really affect them. Others will breathe fire once you make some progress in this stage, especially when you get near them. Other than that, there's not really much else to worry about here.

If you rescue 15 hostages, you'll get an extra life.

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 3

We meet some new enemies and watch the difficulty rise! Onward!

Area 3

Watch out with the springboards on the ground. If you land on them, you'll be taken higher. Same thing happens if the enemies step on them.

If you find a heart, you'll be able to refill your health and add a hit to your maximum health.

The white snipers take two hits.

You may have been seeing skeletons. Turns out they're always in the same place every time and don't reward you with anything, and they're not random.

The red guys are pretty fast, so don't let them run towards you!

The green frogmen can be pretty fast, but if you can make a run for it and keep them on the screen, it'll get rid of some of the enemies for you. Be sure to watch out for the birds, as they can fly around fairly quickly and are hard to hit.

When you complete this stage, you'll get a password! Finally!

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 2

Finally, a change of scenery!

Area 2

You'll earn an extra life at 20,000 points and every subsequent 30,000 points.

The purple guys show up more often, so prepare to be shot at...a lot.

When you reach the rooftop of the building, you'll see gray snipers pop out of the tops of crates. One bullet will be enough to take them down.

The spiked balls will hurt you if they run into you, so keep an eye out for them since they drop from the sky.

The clocks give you more health if you can find them behind doors.

The white guys with the guns take two hits to kill.

Once again, you'll have to find the grenade from the commando hiding in this stage. As you complete stages, you'll fill in more of the note.

BoboTheVulture plays Code Name Viper - Area 1

It's time now for Adventures of Guy With No Pants! Watch as some guy with no pants shoots at people and walks around with his schlong out!

Yes, I know he's wearing pants. I couldn't resist.

Anyway, it's up to you to take down seven hideouts of a South American drug syndicate. Yeah, that's the story.

Area 1

Press Up to go through doors. Free hostages to get points, and look in doors to find power-ups, such as more ammo, time and health. You can even find a machine gun if you're fortunate enough.

One bullet is for the pistol, while three bullets is for the machine gun.

If you've played the Rolling Thunder series, then guess what? You're gonna be at home here. Hold Up on the Control Pad and jump to reach higher platforms.

The grey and blue guys are your standard lackeys. The blue guys take one more hit than the grey guys (who take just one). The purple guys have guns, but they go down in one hit and their shots are pretty easy to avoid. The frogmen can be taken down in one or two hits, but watch to see if they come out before jumping over the water to the next platform.

The green snipers hide in the holes in the wall. Shoot them before they shoot you.

You can only take two hits before you die. That'll change as you go, though.

Near the end of the stage, you'll be able to find the commando behind a door. He'll give you the grenade, which you'll automatically use to blow open the door at the end. You'll get part of a note. This will come into play later in the game.
