PrinceWatercress plays Super Mario Bros. 2 - Part 3 of 7

World 3 has us going all over the place as we continue to explore Subcon.

World 3-1

Jump the gap and enter the doorway at the beginning. If you want, you can go down at the next screen, stay in the center as you drop down and not only use the area as a coin gathering place, you can also warp to World 5 by using the potion near the pot at the end. Obviously, we'll be playing every stage in the game in this Let's Play.

By going up, you'll jump from cloud platform to cloud platform before encountering a Pidgit. Throw the Pidgit off the magic carpet and ride up to the vine while avoiding the Beezos.

From the vine, you can go left with Princess Toadstool and take a shortcut straight to the boss if you want, but if you go right, you'll be able to find two mushrooms on the long way to the boss - one near the mushroom blocks and the other on dry land just before the ladder - while braving all the enemies in your path.

You'll face Red Birdo at the end. Use the mushroom blocks if you need to.

World 3-2

Here, you'll meet the Ostro. You can pick them up and throw them like most enemies, but they will follow you around voraciously until you off-screen them. If a Shyguy is riding on one, you'll have to pluck it off if you want to grab the Ostro. Of course, you can use the Shyguy against other enemies.

At the beginning, you'll need to go all the way to the right and use a bomb to get underground. At the far right before you can go underground, you can find a mushroom if you need one. You'll have to use ladders and plant bombs to blow up walls (carefully, now) to get from one area to the next and ultimately end up at the door in the ground below where you started. The two pits with the Porcupos (the hedgehog-looking enemies) contains the other mushroom; bomb the right one to get it.

If you play as Princess Toadstool, it is possible to jump clear over the pits with her floating ability and skip the parts that are further underground entirely.

You'll face the red Birdo here; thankfully, there are more than enough mushroom blocks to use and you can crouch jump your way back up if you need to.

World 3-3

At the beginning, it's a mad dash to avoid the flying Albatosses and the Bob-ombs that they try to drop on you. The Bob-ombs are bombs with legs, and they will move around for a bit before standing in place, flashing and blowing up much like a bomb you can pull out of the ground. You can even find Bob-ombs by pulling plants out of the ground, and you'll need to toss it quickly to get rid of it. If you can find the potion and take it to the two pillars just after the start, you can find a mushroom.

After the mad dash to the door, you'll be dealing with Ninjis and Sparks. If you take the potion you find as soon as you go in all the way to the left side of the ladder, you can plant the door at the ladder, go into the door, go up the ladder and get the other mushroom.

From here, go into the door on the upper floor and make your way up. At the top is the key; get it and bring it to the locked door on the lower floor. Keep in mind that you can keep running to the left and warp around the screen to make running away from the From here, the two doors act as the two "towers" of this boss level, and you'll need to transfer between your superjumps to make it to the top, which will take you outside to a mid-air bridge. At the other end of the bridge is the boss.

The boss here is Mouser; he takes more hits to defeat, but you should know what to do at this point.
