DeceasedCrab plays Earthbound - Part 20 of 53

On the way to Fourside, we end up stuck in the middle of the desert due to a traffic jam. It looks like we'll have to head to the city some other way.

From here, head to the Bus Station and head to Fourside. When the bus driver asks if you want to get off at Threed, say no to head to Fourside.

You'll eventually be stopped by a traffic jam in the middle of the desert, complete with what sounds like a radio playing in the distance for background music. You'll have to get to Fourside on your own from here.

There will be a drug store to the west where you can save your game, stay overnight and completely heal for $210 and buy some things. The Wet Towels will cure Sunstroke, which you'll get from walking around in the desert long enough, but you can also heal it with Healing Alpha. If you see a brief red flash onscreen, you'll know that one of your characters has gotten You'll also want to get Mr. Baseball Bat for Ness and the Deluxe Fry Pan for Paula.

Outside of the drug store is another guy selling stuff out of his jacket. Get the Zip Gun for Jeff. If you need Bottle Rockets, go ahead and get them.

The Mole Playing Rough makes a return here and can be easily taken care of.

You'll have to head north of the drug store to continue. There is a hole leading underground, and the nearby monkey will tell you that it leads to Talah Rama. Unfortunately, you won't be able to go in there yet.

As for the vast desert expanse, you'll be able to get some items and fight some enemies. The Double Burger will heal more than the Hamburger.

The Skelpion will Poison you if given the chance. Poison does last after a battle, so cure it with Healing Beta. The Crested Booka can lower a party member's offense with a war cry. The Smilin' Sphere will explode into bits during battle and do a ton of damage when destroyed. The Desert Wolf will bite you for a good amount of damage. The Criminal Caterpillar can cast Fire Alpha and can tear you apart if given the chance.

Along the way, you'll find a Black Sesame Seed on the northwest part of the coast. It's a black pixel on the ground. If you actually talk to it, it will want to apologize to the White Sesame Seed from before. After talking to it, the photographer will show up for another picture. As for the White Sesame Seed, it will be southeast of the small oasis in the middle of the desert, near a cactus, and will look like a white pixel. If you talk to it, it will tell you to tell the Black Seed that she still loves him. From there, you can find the Black Sesame Seed again

Paula will learn Shield Sigma at Level 27, which is an even more powerful shield for the entire party.

There is a sign in the desert containing a message from Penetalla Giovanni. It states that someone lost a pair of contact lenses in the desert, and that the contact lenses were a memento from their grandmother and is very important to them. If you can return the contact lenses, you'll get a reward if you return them to the second floor of the Fourside Bakery.

If you die at any point in the desert, you'll need to head back to Threed. Due to the traffic jam, bus service will be suspended, and you'll have to tread back to Threed on foot through three tunnel areas just to get to the hospital.

The Broken Laser will become a Laser Gun if Jeff can fix it, and it will be more powerful than the Zip Gun that you got in the desert.
