havenoshame plays Animaniacs for Sega Genesis - Part 1 of 7

Surprise! You didn't think I wouldn't make time for the Sega Genesis game, did you? It's been forever since I did the Super Nintendo version...so I just had to do the Genesis/Mega Drive version as soon as I reached a lack of ideas.

I've always wanted to do a guide for this. If you're wondering what happened, it's everything else here that I've made since then. That's why.

Intro Stage

After the intro where game goes through the usual humor that is typical of the Animaniacs TV series, Yakko, Wakko and Dot finally act upon their idea of opening a pop culture shop that they've been talking about, and start off by taking some famous movie props. It's probably pretty obvious that John Snotts is supposed to be Don Knotts. Get used to the intentional misspellings and parodies of celebrity names.

After this cutscene, you get the intro stage. You'll jump down from the water to the ground below. If you land on the three Goodfeathers (the birds you see on the way down), you'll get a star from each of them. 100 stars will net you an extra life.

Yakko, Wakko and Dot have their own individual attacks and abilities. Yakko can stun enemies with a paddleball, and he is the only one who can push and pull objects, like crates. Wakko's mallet can hit switches, break objects and light fuses like the bomb in front of the wall. Dot blows kisses, which can charm certain characters into getting out of the way or doing something in order to progress the game. Runt at the end is a perfect example.

The picture at the upper-left is your health bar. If your character is happy, their health is perfect. As they get more tired and unhappy, you'll need to find health in the form of foods like ice cream and meat. You can take only three hits before you die, and all three Warners share the same health meters...so be careful.

There is a timer for every stage, which can be seen in the lower-right. You only have so much time to get through each stage.

At the end of every stage is a password. Unlike the Super Nintendo version, these passwords are both shorter and much simpler, and the only four things to remember are Yakko, Wakko, Dot and empty spaces.
